Slather on sunscreen: It's essential for healthy skin, says aesthetician Kearney Hub

KEARNEY — With summer in full swing, sunny skies are calling many people outdoors.

Between baseball games and barbecues, it can be easy to forget about skin care, but according to Angela Fredrick, a licensed aesthetician and cosmetologist at Milano Salon & Spa in Kearney, protecting skin should be a priority, especially during summer months.

What are the most important skin care products to use?

“Its important to use a good moisturizer and definitely a sun block.”

What kind of sun block is best?

“Preferably, people should use an SPF of at least 30. A big misconception is that skincare will have an SPF in it or make-up will have an SPF, but those aren’t usually enough. Everyone should use an additional SPF if they’re going to be in the sun. Another misconception is that the higher the SPF, the better the protection, but anything above 50 isn’t necessarily going to provide any more protection.”

Skin Care : How to Become an Aesthetician

Becoming an aesthetician requires first attending school and obtaining state certification before building up a clientele. Find out how to get ...

how can I find pictures of facial manipulations for a liscensed aesthetician?

I am a liscensed aesthetician but, I have not worked as one in 5 years. Can a fellow aesthetician give me some advice? I am extremely anxious about beginning this work, but it has become a necessisity.

Hey I am an Esthetician as well from MA. E-mail your address and I'll mail you some info. Be specific as to what you want. I have some AVEDA facial massage classes and Facial Renaissance Massage.

Is it easy to find job for a aesthetician and makeup artist?

I have certification in aesthetician and professional makeup artist. I don't know where to start looking for a job. Any suggestion?

You don't say where you are located, and different jobs are more plentiful in different places, so it's a little difficult.

I would think that most places in the U.S. need people to work in the cosmetics sections of large mall department stores or specialty cosmetics stores. Certainly many beauty salons in larger cities often have aestheticians associated with their other haircare and personal grooming services.

For more glamour, television networks and programs need professionals to provide on-camera makeup. Movie makers need makeup artists. Theaters need makeup artists when they put on plays.

It also depends on what you want to do and where you see your career going.

If I were you, and I lived in the US, I'd go to Indeed.com and do a search on "makeup artist" and your city and state and see what comes up. Do the same search for "aesthetician."

http://www.indeed.com

That will give you a starter list of employers you can approach. Keep building your list of potential employers and watch for opportunities.

Good luck!

What does someone going to school to be an Aesthetician learn?

Obviously they learn about bone structure, skin layers, makeup, and yadda yadda yadda. What does someone with aesthetician certification DO? I don't know if the question makes any sense, but I would love any kind of answer I could get. I am considering doing this myself.
ACTUALLY, "littlemisoc," if you would take a moment to Yahoo or Google search the word "Aesthetician" you would find that a lot of people spell it that way. And as for the best answer, you aren't going to get it with that attitude. Thanks!

We learn how to care for the skin and also educate our clients on health. Because what we do on the inside affects our outer image. We learn how to treat skin individually unlike Dermatologists who treat everyone the same..not all skin can be treated in the same way[sensitive, dry, combination, oily] all need different remedies. It's also very nice that there are post-graduate schools that really give you a lift on your career skills & knowledge [Speed Waxing[fast, easy money],Lymph Drainage to release toxins, Stone therapy..etc.] What we do is very important & therapeutic not only for our clients but also for ourselves..PLUS THERE IS GREAT MONEY TO BE MADE! =D ..you can work for Plastic Surgeons, Cruises, Resorts, Well-being centers[Holistic], Salon & Spas, Department stores..the list goes on

Right out of school I was offered $25/hr. to work for La Prairie @ Sak Fifth Avenue..so pretty awesome & I'm was only 21 yrs. old

they take care of ppls faces... alot of them work in beauty salons giving facials and stuff

Its esthetician first off I'm actually going to school for that we do facials, back facials ,chemical peels eye brow arching make up waxing etc. Its great but see i want to be a dermatologist and this is just a taste into that field if you don't know what that is its a face doctor.I don't think you should do it you cant spell it and you have no idea what we do,Do some research and do what you want do what you like.

Do you know of a good aesthetician in Edinburgh?

I just moved to Edinburgh, near Broughton and the City Centre and I'm looking for a good aesthetician with experience.

No, but if you find one, email me with contact info on YA! I'm looking for business partners in the UK that are interested in representing the best health/wellness/and skin care products in the market place today. My company is expanding to the UK in November, so it's a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor there and build a business.

I envy you moving to the UK... We only visited England when living in Germany 20 or so years ago... Travel if you can!

Good luck!

What's that, someone who studies aesthetics, or are you looking for a beautician?

Requirements to be a Medical Aesthetician?

I live in NY and Id like to become a medical Aesthetician. Doing work with lasers, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and hopefully injectables such as botox and restalyn. I have a certification in cosmetology and an associates degree in bio-chem. I was wondering what else I would need? Continuing education classes on separate aspects? A nursing degree (if so what level)? An aesthetics liscense? Any information would be helpful including the names of schools and such.

Look it up on the Internet.

Is an aesthetician different from an esthetician?

Does aesthetician refer to someone with medical training? Or can the words be used interchangeably?

it's the same thing, just differently spelled. and i believe that aesthiticians have some form of medical training anyway.

Aesthetician = British spelling, Esthetician = American

It's the same thing. Just some people like to spell it with an A in front of the E. Same training involved no extra schooling. Hope that helped.

Are there paramedical aesthetician jobs available in Australia?

As in jobs for aestheticians who are trained to work with doctors and use lasers, do chemical peels, etc. I am planning on moving from the U.S. to Oz next year and have been considering becoming certified as a paramedical aesthetican but didn't know what the job market looked like or what the salaries are. Thanks!

there arent any, people in australia never get hurt / die, havent u heard? But yea, best chance of getting a job as a paramedical aesthetician...go to austria...euro cup is happening...lots of angry ppl u know?

can an aesthetician help get rid of acne?

I was wondering if it's worth it to go to an aesthetician, and if the facials they provide really help with acne, thanks.

A Dermatologist is a skin specialist and would benefit you more. Everyone's skin reacts differently to the acne products sold in stores, so it takes a bit of time to try different ones to see what works best for you. Don't use the same lotion that you put on your body for your face. It has more oil in it and can clog pores even more, so use lotions designed for the face instead. When you wash your face apply in a circular pattern and stroke upward. Always pat dry your face, never grind or harshly rub the towel into your face when drying it off.

How much to tip aesthetician for endermologie?

I'm finally getting to do endermologie (40 min. massage for cellulite) and I'm wondering how much I should give the tech. for a tip. She's also the spa owner, and the services are reasonably priced, but it's breaking the bank (for me, anyway) to indulge in this. How much should I give for her services?

have you checked out this web site? http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-endermologie.htm

Generally for those types of services, you should tip 15-20% of the fee charged.

What is the difference between aesthetician and cosmotologist?

Thanks.

A cosmetologist mainly does hair. They are schooled mostly for that and broadly over all the other areas...skin, nails, make-up, etc. An aesthetician specializes in skin care. they do facials and microdermabrasion and stuff like that.
