Sounds of Concord chorus wins district championship Wicked Local
Sounds of Concord , a men’s chorus singing in the barbershop style, has won the Barbershop Harmony Society 's Northeastern District 2011 chorus championship.
In a concert held in Chicopee on Oct. 22, the best 14 barbershop choruses from throughout the northeastern United States and Canada competed for appraisal in singing quality, musicality and presentation as judged by several experts in barbershop harmony. Sounds of Concord scored highest among all the contestants and, as a result, will be representing the Northeastern District in the Barbershop Harmony Society’s International Competition in Portland, Ore., in July 2012.
The Sounds of Concord is made up of about 50 men from Greater Boston, as well as a few from western suburbs and even neighboring states who promote their art form by rehearsing every Thursday evening in Lexington. Under the direction of Dan Costello, a highly respected barbershopper since the tender age of 12, the chorus has doubled in size in the past couple of years, attracting singers of a wide variety of experience, including veteran, award-winning barbershoppers who have been excited by the high quality of this chorus. One of the keys to the success of the chorus is the camaraderie of its members. The experienced veterans enthusiastically support the others’ efforts to improve their singing and presentation such that even the most novice singers become a significant contribution to the special four-part harmony that produces their exquisite barbershop sound.

You will need a barber chair and back-bar with a mirror.If you are going to have a Barber come to your community you will have to be sure that there will be enough work for him or her to do. So that they will not have a lot of time on their hands where there is nothing to do. I was a Barber for several years and the things that Keeps a barber shop going people coming in the door. No people coming in will have a negative prospect on your chances of keeping your barber.
At what age can you start taking your children to a barber shop?
I wanted to take my 14 month old son to go and get his hair cut but those cartoon cuts for kids are just so expensive for just a trim. Would it be appropriate at his age to just take him to a barber shop?
my son has a lot of hair and it makes him hot His first hair cut was when he was like 7 weeks. If i could wait on the haircut I would but I cant it needs to be trimmed!
If he needs a haircut then he isn't too young to go. The sooner you bring him, the easier it will be. A lot of people wait until they are older then the kids get scared and freak out. I used to work at Snip Its Salon For Kids, its a great place to bring them, it costs a little more but way worth it. Maybe you should check that out? They are more experienced with kids and more patient than a barber.

here in the philippines, we have a belief, that if your child's hair is very thin, you can cut it everytime to thicken their hair. even though they are 6 months old or less.

check with your state laws but you should be ok to open and run the shop just no hair cutting

No. You could try and ask them to coach you but then you wouldn't learn much . You need to learn that at the right place ,from the right people.
Can you get hiv from clippers at the barber shop?

There has to be a blood to blood transfer. When hiv is exposed in the air, it gets weaker that means less chance of infection.
This is a very, very low risk i wouldn't worry about this. But if you are in doubt and to stop worrying and so as to not be stressed i would say have the test so just you'll know.
And if you do, have a general test, because there are other things than can be causght not just Hiv/Aids.
