Bank to tear down former Wall Theater Fremont Tribune
Fremont National Bank plans to raze the former Wall Theater building this winter.
Kiel's Barber Shop will make an announcement in the coming weeks about moving to a new location from the building at 236-240 E. Sixth St.
The Karousel Beauty and Nail Shoppe closed in June when owner Patsy Metschke moved to Tangles Hair Design at 1915 E. Eighth St.
Nebraska Printing and Litho also once occupied the building.
Bank President David Simmons said the old building will be torn down sometime around Dec. 1.
"This building is really old, it's in disrepair, and we don't have a good function for it, so we need to clean it up," Simmons said. "Once we get it cleaned up, then in the next few years we need to decide what we're going to do, but this gives us some options."
"We have no use for the building, so the cost to maintain and upgrade and insure it doesn't make sense anymore," he said. "The building has reached a state where it isn't productive for us to have."
