Trying to solve the bath salts problem WLBZ-TV

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- With the bath salts problem showing no signs of going away in the greater Bangor community, stakeholders are coming together to try and hammer out solutions to attack the problem.

Law enforcement, public health officials, and other professionals met at Eastern Maine Community College Wednesday to come up with ways to solve what some are calling an epidemic.

The dangers of the drug, available options for treatment, and updating law enforcement on the most current legislation were key topics of the conference.

Health officials say the lack of detox centers for bath salts is making it difficult to help prevent users from taking the drug again. They also say one of the biggest concerns now is that bath salts is putting a strain on all recovery resources for all types of drugs, not just bath salts.

"The vast majority to date of people using bath salts are also using other drugs," Bangor Health and Community Services Director Shawn Yardley said.  "So, this is really a symptom of a bigger issue, and while there's an immediate need to respond to bath salts as we have, I think fairly aggressively, we also need to keep the conversation going around the underlying issues that are related to substance abuse."

Can steam bath/facial treatment steamers directly to face warp the retainers(wearing retainers) ?

Hi everyone is this possible? i just had a facial treatment and they put a steamer in front of my face that it's so hot. My question is will it warp the retainers inside the mouth because of the hot steam directed to the face?

I don't think it would. They're inside your mouth, which I'm assuming is closed, and I don't think the steam is quite that powerful.

Will a flea/tick treatment for a dog get washed off with a bath?

Without thinking, I applied a flea/tick treatment to my dog tonight. It was just one of those small packets that you apply straight down the back. Then i remembered family is coming over tomorrow for thanksgiving... OOPS!! my dog stinks terribly and her coat does not look well. She really needs a bath!! if i bathe her tomorrow morning, will all of the medicine ultimately come off? :(

Thanks in advance.

Read the box of flea medication. you can giver her a bath but its better to have a non ichy dog with fam ova than smelly you can always live her out side or just bathe her very well

depends,read the lable,most of th time t does'nt.

yes it may but not entirely u should get liquid for there Personal beds also a flea bombs that can kill fleas in about 2 hours but make sure u keep the dogs in a separate room with no contact with the flea bomb and also flea and tick shampoo when giving it a bath but make sure any other medication is mixed or it can over medicate ur dog and ur dog could et sick or even worse

Frontline Plus is water proof as long as you wait a few days after applying it, and with internal flea medications like Capstar and Sentinel, there is nothing to wash off.

has any one ever tried a scne treatment from bath and body works?

does it work good for oily skin? how much?

Hey,

I tried a purifying facial mask made by BIO for BBW and it was AMAZING. Sad to say, they don't make it anymore...I still have one bottle that I save for special occasions that I loved it so much. I know this all doesn't help you much, but what I can tell you is that BBW has a guarantee that if you're not happy with the product, they'll take it back for a full refund. I would clarify with a clerk when you purchase the product, but I am pretty sure it still works that way. Good luck! and ps, if you like it and it really does work, stock up because they tend to cut off their product lines...

Anyone used Aveeno Baby Shooting Bath treatment? My baby has egzema problem and itching a lot.?

Would like to learn your feedbacks about this product and other advices you can tell me for removing the pain my baby has...Thank you

My daughter had terribly itchy skin as an infant and when I took her to her pediatrician she was, indeed, suffering from eczema (I have it as well..genetic? I don't know)
The Baby Aveeno bath stuff worked great, as it cleaned her up nicely and soothed her skin. I also invested in a good, gentle baby moisturizer (by Aveeno as well) to rub onto her skin after her baths..and in between baths as well. This calmed down her itchiness and also enabled me to give her a gentle, soothing massage to help her relax and sleep. Make sure that you don't bathe her all too often (only once..MAYBE twice a week..or whenever she is terribly soiled) so that her skin doesn't further dry out. Skin problems for anyone can and usually do flare up in the cold, dry winter months..so some extra attention will be needed until springtime to keep your baby comfortable and happy.

My oldest daughter had egzema. I started using Aveeno oatmeal bath in every bath and lathered her up in the medicated Aveeno lotion. I did that for about a month and she has not had a single problem since. Also try not to bathe everyday It will just dry the skin out even more. Try everyother day and just keep the lotion around and apply several times a day. I hope this info helps you!

Seems to me you baby is not in good terms with the products. Stop it immediately and try other products . thanks

Can I give my dog a bath BEFORE giving him flea treatment?

I believe I have heard somewhere that I should not. I know to absolutely wait 2 days after, but would like to bathe him first.

As long as you wait 2-3 days to apply the flea treatment, yes. The reason is that the medicine requires the dogs natural oils to spread effectively. When you bathe your dog, it takes a coupe days for the natural oils to return. So you can give your dog a bath today, and put his flea meds on in two to three days.

Give him a flea treatment bath, that should get rid of some of the fleas. Then the treatment will do the rest.

You can and should bathe your dog before his flea treatment, but - as you already know - you should wait two days to apply the treatment.
The reason for this is that the spot treatments spread over the dog's fur with its natural oils. If you have washed these oils out, the treatments cannot disperse properly. It takes about 2 days for these oils to build up again to sufficient levels to disperse the treatments.

Most topical flea control medications are spread by the oil on the dog's skin. If you bathe the dog, you wash away the oil and the medication is ineffective.

If he is not infested right now, I'd bathe him and then wait a few days before applying. If he IS infested and there are a lot of fleas in the environment I'd skip the bath and just treat him with the topical treatment.

Ok to bathe BEFORE Frontline or Advantage. With Advantage you have to wait longer after treatment because it is water based and washes off easily if it is not fully absorbed. Frontline you don't have to wait as long afterward to bathe.

You can bathe your dog before applying the topical flea/tick treatments. You just need to wait the day or 2 afterwards for the natural oils to get back on your dog's skin before applying the topicals. They need the oils to be able to spread over the dog's entire body properly for full protection. You don't need to use a flea shampoo, but a general shampoo or medicated shampoo is fine. If you get a soap-free/soapless shampoo, you can also bathe your dog with that inbetween topical applications of your flea medication. These shampoos won't wash your topical products off as long as you don't bathe more frequently than once a week.

Check the label. Some suggest to bathe then put the treatment on.

Hi, in answer to your question, yes you can. All you have to do is wait until their coat is totally dry. That's when I put on their Revolution. The vet told me to do it that way and wow it really works.

Mary

Yes you can. Frontline and such products are designed to work with the animals own skin oils. The reason you wait 2 days is so the animals coat can replace the oils lost in the bath. As the animal moves, the product is dispersed. Frontline is waterproof but not soap proof. Try to use a shampoo that does not contain soap as it's primary cleanser, also insures minimal stripping of the animals body oils, making the product more effective.

Yes, you can bath your dog Before the flea treatment, but is absolutely mandatory wait at least two days before apply the treatment, because the drug of products is fixed on the oily surface of skins, not on hair.

A bath first (a flea shampoo) then flea treatment. That is the way to go! It truly is!

thats how its usualy done! lol

How long after giving my dog his flea prevention treatment can I give him a bath?

Does it take a while for the stuff to soak in, or could I bathe him soon after applying it?
The package doesn't say.

I usually give mine a bath the day I am going to put treat on, then wait 2 days before batheing again

Read the package - it depends on the product. Generally, you have to wait at LEAST 24 hours...with Revolution, it is three days.

I use Frontline, and just to be safe, I do not bathe my dogs 3 days before or after applying.

You could also try contacting the company...sorry, you didn't say what product you used:)

umm i usally wash my pup first them put the flea stuff on

God, what flea prevention did you use?????????

Wait at least 48 hours.

just like the one person said, I give my dog a bath BEFORE I put on the flea stuff

Vet told me with frontline you can bathe them as soon as it.'s soaked in to the skin. (probably wait 4-5 hours to be safe) I am guessing you are like me and do not want to pet them or let onto the furniture untill you have given them a bath.

can anyone tell me what all the differnet colors are that appear after and ionizing foot bath treatment?

This is a huge scam. The color is simply an electric current passed between two dissimilar metals and you are seeing electroplating at its most basic. The color is ionized metal in the water.

Where is the best place for a mud bath spa treatment (for a couple) in Las Vegas, NV?

It can be two separate tubs of mud: I just can't find anywhere in LV that has mud baths, not wraps for couples. Please help!

Mesquite is actually around an hour drive from the LV speedway on Interstate 15 toward Utah. The Mesquite spa special does not appear to offer a MUD option.

Has anyone ever had a Japanese enzyme bath treatment?

How was it? And, what is the point?!?

Cedar Enzyme Bath Benefits are SAID to be relief from joint and muscle aches and pains; reduced tension and fatigue;
cleansing & beautification of the skin; stress reduction & calming of the nerves; improved digestion; detoxification; and improved circulation & mobility.

There are quite a few in Japan but unfortunately I have never experience but a friend of mine said that her skin was radiant afterwards and when I saw her I must agree.
