Little Bit Of Paradise: Tiffany's Salon Patch.com

Who wouldn't relish the thought of lying on a tropical beach being fanned by palm fronds, all the while enjoying some cool ocean breezes as the tensions of everyday life are gently massaged out of your muscles?

Alas, that tropical vacation is likely to remain a pipe dream for so many of us in this tight economy. But if you're looking for a little bit of local paradise, Tiffany's Salon and Spa, located at 21 West St., can help you escape from the stresses of your daily life.

Owner Raymond Hennessey's sister and brother-in-law started the salon in 1965, and Hennessey bought the business from them in 1969.

In the last 42 years, Hennessey has developed a loyal following of locals and non-locals alike, some of whom travel for many miles to enjoy the hospitality and service that Tiffany's is renowned for.

The lower level of the salon is devoted to hair services – styling, coloring, and cutting. A peaceful and private upper level is home to spa services including massages, pedicures, manicures, facials, waxing, and other skin care services like glycolic peels and microdermabrasion.

Where can i find a beauty spa type place that would treat me and my brother?

My brother likes to spend time dressed as women i dont have a problem with this and i am not interested in any negative comments so please dont bother.I would like to treat us both to a beauty treatment before christmas the whole works, waxing, facial, massage and finish the day with a makeover any ideas where we could go and they would treat him as well as me in the south of england would be best

i would imagine any where that is a professional salon would treat you and your brother to what ever treatments you wanted,,,,i work in a hairsalon attatched to a beauty spa, and know that on occasion we have had transexuals and cross dressers wanting treatment,,,,, not a problem,,, a professional salon should be just that!!!

why dont you try your local college. my college in york do treatments for the public as part of their training.

Call any CHAMPNEY'S there is one in Tring Herts. ,expensive but great for a real treat for your bro too !
Have fun and relax !

Check in your area for beauty and cosmetology schools. They usually need clients to practice on, and they can perform the same services for greatly reduced prices. Consult with them when you call, ask if they perform those services for men. They would treat him much better if they knew his requests ahead of time, and not have you walk in and surprise them.

Brazilian Waxing in Hong Kong? which spa / beauty salon? ?

Ph:2537 3737.

would you like a beauty treatment for xmas?

i would like to know if your b/f hubby got you a beauty treatment for christmas what would be the one you would love to get ie a facial, massage, wax, spa, tan or manicure? cheers for any answers.

I love massage so that would be my pick

How about an all-in-one package, with the facial and massage and others.

Definitely a facial hahaha. Love those, dont mind them in my hair either. (sorry i couldnt resist)

tan or manicure!

can everyone be a beauty therapist?

I'd like to have a 2nd income. I am very good with beauty stuffs, i.e. waxing, massages, ect. Do I need a license to have my own mobile beauty spa?

A license isn't necessary but some form of insurance is, i.e. public liability, incase anyone decides to sue. Also, get a qualification behind you, like an nvq, many colleges run these course yearly. I'm a beauty therapist and really enjoy wot i do. so goodluck and enjoy!!

yes anyone can do it

Yes you need to have a certificate only for health issues check with you local council they will let you know what courses you need to complete

Yes, you need to go to school and get lisenced. Check out cosmetology classes at your local colleges as well massage therapy classes. There is way more to it than you think.

hi there, no you dont need a license. you need insurance. you can go onto www.Babtac.co.uk this insurance company is so cheap about 50 pounds for the year. it covers upto 1 million pounds. you must have that incase you screw up and they sue you. hope this helps

You don't have to be licensed - but I think your clients might prefer that you had some qualifications and/or professional experience.

You should think about doing an evening class and getting a diploma or something - something you can at least hang on the wall.

Everyone except Edward scissors hands, i should imagine.

as long as your b*tchy and have an attitude probem and dont mind wearing a white overall, you should be fine

Not if you watch Hollyoaks. Blonde hair and a nice pair of breasts would help on your CV.

I would want to see a qualification, wouldnt let anyone loose on me without one. Try a local health farm, they take on new therapists and boy does it show, but its good learning experience.

no license needed. anyone can do it

Is it possible to get hiv in a beauty salon/spa?

I recently went to get a wax in a salon. The woman used tweezers to pull some hairs from the area that wasn't clear after waxing and made me bleed in a few places. About 3 weeks later I felt really exhausted for 2 days, as if I was really sick but had no fever or any other signs. I know the chances are pretty small but I am worried sick now. I am always very careful with that stuff but once I start worrying I can't get myself to stop. I know I have to wait at leats 3 months to get tested but I feel like it is such a long time. Do you think its likely to get HIV in this way?
Oh yea, it also so happened that I got a cold before that - runny nose/sore throat because I just got back from a warmer vacation place, but this was like almost 2 weeks before I experienced the symptoms outlined above.

it is deffinitely not likely to get HIV that way. the general rule is, if the blood is dry, it is no longer infectious--HIV does not tolerate exposure to air. so if those tweezers had wet blood from the previous use, and that blood was infected with HIV, and in a relatively high viral count, and that blood managed to touch your "wounds" from the hair being pulled out. . .i think you get the point. it is extremely unlikely for everything neccessary to have happened. yes, mild cold or flu like symptoms a few weeks after exposure does happen (when the body first starts to try and fight the virus), but it is just extremely unlikely that you were exposed this way, it probably was just a cold. go ahead and get tested in a few months though, it will make you feel much better.

Yeah sure if she happened to dip her tweezers in a bucket of someones blood infected with HIV, then cut you open and dipped the tweezers into your cut.

You're very paranoid, HIV isn't as easy to get as that, are you a hypochondriac?

Id think its possible.. probably not real likely but possible. The disease that concerns me with beauty shops and barber shops is MRSA the staph virus that most antibiotics will not kill... This is a very serious problem...Staph or MRSA bacteria can live for weeks just sitting on a chair or a tool... and the MRSA is very deadly if not treated.

I understand your concern.. I pulled a woman out of a burning car a few years ago.. When I got her out she had tattoos all over , body pierced all over and her head shaved.. and I got her blood on me... I was concerned until I was tested.

Possible, but very unlikely. All conditions have to be perfect for HIV to live on the tip of the tweezers, touched your blood at the right time and worked it's way into your system.
That is one magic HIV virus.

HIV is a dormant virus. It does not have fevers, fatigue, or symptoms. When it turns into AIDS, one may have symptoms, bu not before that.

It takes a long while for HIV to start showing itself as AIDS.

It won't hurt for you to have an HIV blood test. You can get it in many clinics.

I understand your fear. I don't think you got HIV in this way. But, it would make you better able to protect yourself if you knew how HIV was transmitted. It's very important information because if you don't know the truth, you'll be listening to other people who could be mistaken.

Here's a website on HIV transmission from the Centers for Disease Control.

Salon/Beauty Salon/Hair Salon/Day Spa, Whatever?!?

I want to open one of these and I can never get good answers! I have a few questions!! 1. Would I have to be a stylist to open a salon? 2. What do you want to see in a salon? 3. Would you take your child to a kids only salon? 4. What extras do you want in a salon (facials, waxing, nails)? 5. How to make a beauty service business reallllly successful?

Salon Owners help!! Customers/Clients tell me what you like/dislike!!

1.) no, you do not have to be a stylist, just have a good mind for business. You should however, contact a local cosmetology school and brush up on learning about scheduling appointments. You need to know how long it takes to do a cut, color, processing time, etc. Don't rely on your stylists to teach you this, they will resent you. Also, you should know the requirements to maintain a stylist license to make sure your employees are compliant with state rules.

2) I co-own a salon with my daughter(I am not a styist, she is) and we have a pedicure chair, manicure station, 3 wash stations and 6 styling stations. We offer facial waxing as well.

3) Not necessarily, we have parents bringing in their kids all the time. But some kids are scared to death to have their hair cut, so the kids only salon make them kid friendly.

4) I would like to have an ESTHETICIAN

5) Bring in a partner that has existing clientele. They will be less likely to leave. Join the local chamber of commerce and get involved with your community. Sponsor events such as bridal shows. Customer service is key, make sure your stylists are well-trained and give your customers special attention not just while in the chair. People like coming to their stylists because they can confide in them, they become friends in addition to giving them great service.
Buy a good salon software program(Salon Iris is a good one) Make sure you ask the right questions while interviewing. A good one to ask "where do you see yourself in 5 years". If they respond, I want to own my own salon, give them a pass. If they respond, I only want to do this part time, give them a pass. It is imperative you find stylists who are passionate about their craft.(we are learning this the hard way!). It is best to hire stylists right out of school when they are eager to learn and please. Make sure you provide continuing education.

I love the spa!
I think it's great that you want to open one.
No, I don't think you need to be a stylist to open a salon, just make sure you hire experienced stylists and such.
I think you should offer things like eyebrow and lip waxing, manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, and possibly tanning.

1. Depends on the state you are in. Most states you have to have a license and work a a stylist for 2 years before opening your own salon.
2. Clean, organized, relaxing, classy atmosphere.
3. Yes of course
4. massages, waxing, facials, manis and pedis only. FULL SERVICE
5. Be professional, comparable prices, exceptional service, good advertising, good business hours

I want to work in a Spa. What college schools and classes should I look into taking?

I want to be able to do the following...

-cellulite treatments
-face lifts
-waxing
-seaweed, detox, and energize wraps
-massages
-facials
-exfoliating salt glow
-distress aromatherapy cocoons
-lazer hair removal
-anti aging masks

Should I go to a Beauty School or Cosmetology School? Are those the same thing? Are these the things Esthetics's do?

The laws are different in different states, but a basic cosmetology license should cover you except for the massages. You will have to go to massage therapy school for that.

Opening my own salon/spa???

Im thinking of opening a spa with manicures, pedicure, acrylic nails, massages, and waxing, etc. but how do i start off i already have my license. Got any advice for starting a new beauty salon/ spa??

Whats the best way for a man to remove unwanted hair from his back?

I'm taking my girlfriend away to Paris for a long weekend for her birthday, I'v booked us into a really posh hotel that has a health spa/beauty salon type thing on the premises so she should love that, anyway, we have decided that we are going to sleep together for the first time, the thing is she has never actually seen me shirtless, well not properly anyway, and I think my hairy back might turn her off.
I lift weights and play alot of sport so I don't really have any hang-ups about my body except this one thing, its not freakishly hairy but I know women hate that shit.
What is the best way of de-hairing my back before next friday?
I was thinking I could get waxed in that beauty place at the hotel but id feel so feminised and it would mean coming out of the clausete about my hairyness lol
Anyone know the best way to go about this?

You should really relax and be confident with yourself. Especially if this is the beginning of the relationship. Think about if she started asking what you thought about her cellulite or thighs or something. you would notice it more, focus on it, and see her as insecure.
Be yourself, and if you guys become more serious (and comfortable with each other) maybe you can be more candid with each other about these little quirks. I would get kind of freaked out if my boyfriend waxed his back, i would wonder what the hell he was thinking. Go watch 40 year old virgin.
Be confident, have a fun weekend, don'tt sweat your little imperfections, remember no one is perfect!

Day of beauty?

If you went to a spa to see an esthetician, what one service would you choose if you could only pick one? (ex:facial, body wax, facial wax, makeup, body treatment, peels and microderm, sunless tanning, etc) Just curious.

Probably facial-- they are so soothing and I love the effects.
