Body scrub?

How do I use it? I just purchased honey and brown sugar body scrub to exfoliate and there is no directions for use on the jar. I wanna do it right.

is it the kind with oil, too? In anycase, wash up first with your regular soap, then use the scrub. I generally just rub a bit in my hand and use on the areas that need the most exfoliating, like elbows, feet, knees, etc. I use it lightly on other areas.

Depending on the grain, you might need to be careful in areas with thinner skin, like your face or underarm. There are scrubs that have walnut shells and these can scratch sensitive areas.

That brings me to another point- test to be sure your skin doesn't get irritated. The honey might be a soothing agent so you will likely be ok. I use the ones with oil becuase I have such dry skin, I'd flake away if I didn't pair the moisturizer with the scrub!

scoop some out of the jar wit the cleaning pad thing. thats wat i do

What's the difference between "body wash" and "body scrub"?

I see stuff that says "body wash" and "body scrub", like soap & glory's line, but i have no idea what the difference is.

Also, what's the purpose of each?
And what are the advantages/disadvantages of each?

body wash is just a liquid version of soap...except a lot of times with a moisturizing component. Body scrub is also a liquid version of soap, except it has little beads or granules of a substance that helps to exfoliate your skin. The little beads or granules (which might feel sort of like salt or sand scrubbing your skin) actually help to remove the layer of skin on the surface to reveal the healthier, glowing skin underneath.

Both are beneficial depending on what you're looking for. If you want that extra glow, then the scrub is probably your best bet. But most body washes have moisturizing ingredients, which is good if you need a little moisture.

there is no diffrence body scrub just sound nicer

wash is to clean and moisterize. scrub is for exfoliating

the difference is that body scrub is used to cleanse and exfoliate your skin. it usually has some kind of gritty feeling stuff in it that scrubs off the dead skin on your body. if you use it regularly and moisturize, your skin will be softer. regular body wash is just for cleansing the skin. i can't really think of a disadvantage to either one, although if you have really sensitive skin, a body scrub might irritate it a little bit.

body scrub is to get the old skin off your body

and body wash is to
wash your body
you would have thought of that?

body wash-its like soap and you use it to clean only the top layer of skin

body scrub-used to wash away dead skin cells an dmakes skin softer

Where can I buy a body scrub like that at the body shop for a cheaper price?

I love the body shop's body scrub in mango. But at 17 dollars a jar I can't afford it anymore, because I go through them very quickly. I went to a few drugstores and I couldn't find any that smelled as nice as the ones at the body shop. Can anyone reccomend a body scrub that is cheaper that smells similar to the mango one at the body shop.

Not sure about the mango scent, but St. Ives apricot scrub is fantastic, and a total bargain.

Bath & Body Works in the Mall!Lol...it shouldn't be that high in there!..Or try a small store..Any place could have it!Oooh What about Walgreens! They have all that stuff!=]

try an apricot scrub. you can get it at walmart.

Try Bath & Body works. They always have wonderfu sales. Also, try a store like TJ Maxx or Marshals. They have lots of designer and novelty body luxuries marked way down. Great stuff.

Here are a few cool ideas for you, try going to a local library and look up aromatherapy books, check them out or get on the Internet for recipes to make your own body scrubs, you can purchase the ingredient's from a local co-op or health food store, in fact most health food stores have free sample recipe cards of lots of homemade stuff. Much cheaper and healthier for you and its a fun gift giving idea for your friends and family. Have fun! Sincerely, OneDreamCaster

How do i make a homemade body scrub?

I usually make a homemade body scrub with coarse sugar and olive oil. I dont have any oil, in a college dorm room. Any ideas on what to use? I have sugar. . .

Tea Sugar Scrub

2 cups white sugar
1 cup honey
2 TBS tea
5 drops vanilla

Mix and enjoy your new exfoliating scrub:)

How can i make a good homemade exfoliating body scrub?

i have an oily skin. i'm on the lookout for a natural scrub that's not too abrasive, applicable on all body parts.
when i mean applicable on all body parts ,
i'd want to know if exfoliating scrubs can be used in the bust region too.

Homemade Exfoliating Body Scrub

Easy, gentle and effective! You probably have all these ingredients in your pantry already!

2 tablespoons oatmeal
2 tablespoons cornmeal
2 tablespoons wheat germ

To use: combine a teaspoon or two with a mixture of water and/or cleanser to make a paste.
Massage gently into skin and rinse well.

1 lemon, grated
1 pomegranate, peel (you need the inner and whitish part)
1/2 teaspoon sea sand
1 very ripe avocado, pulp of

Dry the pomegranate peel for 2 days.
In a bowl, mix all the ingredients together.
Blend this mixture with the pulp of a very ripe avocado so that the whole mixture gets a good consistency.
Gently apply this concoction on your body.
Rinse abundantly with cool water.
Apply your body cream.
Enjoy!

I love homemade product and ive got a few sites you can check out Have fun!!
this one look interesting

Applesauce Deep Cleanser
2/3 cup granulated table sugar
3 tablespoons applesauce
2 tablespoons olive oil

Combine in a bowl and stir well. Use in the shower as a one-time body scrub. This recipe isn't meant to keep, and do be careful in the tub as the olive oil will make the floor slick.

Apparently applesauce has something called malic acid in it, and amylase enzymes that help get rid of dead skin cells and dirt. The sugar is a gentle exfoliant and the olive oil is a moisturizer

How do I give a proper body scrub?

I want to treat someone special with a body scrub. I have never gotten one so it is hard for me to even begin to guess how. I have a proper body scrub from a salon. Can someone please tell me step by step what to do?

Id go to beauty supply store and get a cloth massage glove/wash cloth (i have a terry cloth massage glove) and find a nice body scrub preferably a sugar scrub as salt can burn if they have any little knicks or cuts. Now if your doing this at home this is where it get tricky (unless u have a massage table for them to lay on) if u dont then id lay out a blanket (not a new nice one) and just have them lay down put about 1/2 cup or less of the body scrub in your hand and in circular motions go over there body from top (shoulders) to bottom.circular motion help get blood flowing and is the best way to use a body scrub.Id also probably have them shower a little bit before hand so so the dry skin is loose already and not all dry and brittle.

I had a chocolate body scrub. it was awesome.
1. Use the scrub gloves (the best ones are at The Body Shop, although a little expensive) to wash the body. Use a shower gel that coincides with the scrub you want to uses. Lightly massage it on the front and back of the body avoiding sensitive areas such as the nipples. Circular motions are the best for blood circulation. Rinse.
2. Pick a body scrub with a nice oil, like sunflower seed, or almond. You can choose one with salt, sugar, or some type of ground stone or seed. Massage it in long strokes, again avoiding sensitive areas. Rinse thoroughly
3. Massage on a good lotion or oil, again coinciding with the gel and scrub. And your done!
This process can be quite messy so def. do it in a bathroom!
Hope that helps.

actualy salon scrubs can be too strong.

Should I use a body cream or body scrub on my face?

I have bought a Boots Natural Collection body cream and body scrub. Can I use it on my face too?

I wouldn't use either on my face. Use a facial wash; Boots do lots of reasonably priced ones.

yes

on your face don't use anything with the word body in it it doesn't help gets some face cream

look and see if there is anything about "dermatalogically tested" or something of the sort...if there isn't anything like that I wouldn't because it's likely to clog your facial pores or cause irritation

it should say on the bottle.
and if not, try it

if your face is on your body

No cuz its for the body u have to use face scrub

best face cleanser is cetaphil

I don't see why not, the scrub may be a little too harsh, but as long as it doesn't have any heavy fragrance it shouldn't be a big deal.

Body Cream is too heavy and Body Scrub is too harsh for your face. Buy products specifically designed for use on the face. They will be labeled. If you do it, your face will be red and scratchy, raw, then it will probably break out from the cream.
Buy some St Ives apricot scrub for face (cheap at walmart) and Cetaphil moisturizer (not too cheap, but good).

no, scrubs that are for your body contain harsher buffers.
ex. don't use sand on your face use sugar.
Your face has a sensitive layer of skin that can't take the harshness of some of the ingredients in body scrubs.

I'm sorry but no, if it is labeled for the body it is for the body, if it labeled for the face it is for the face. You wouldn't but shoes on your hands or gloves on your feet , would you?
You will have to use face cream.

Neither. You use something with the word face in it.

no, don't do the scrub... the skin on the face is more delicate than the one on your body, those scubs will be too rough, buy one for the face, and use it on the neck and collar bone (delicate too), don't scub more than 6 times in the same spot on your face (good rule to abide to), don't scub around your eyes (they bruise too easily) and your lips, instead use an old toothbrush with some vaseline. I hope this helps for more beauty tips go to http://www.beautybyella.com

NO!! The skin on your face is different than your body. IF it says body cream it's for your body. IF it says face cream it's for your face. If you want a multipurpose, look for something that says face and body cream.

You can try it but I would be very careful. If these products aren't meant for your face it could clog your pores causing breakouts. It may also dry out your face severly or irritate your skin so bad it may become sore.

Yes....scrub will take away the dirt and stuff, too, so it's really good for cleaning your face...

It will be far to rich for delicate skin on the facial area. Always use creams for your facial skin type

Noooooo! Please don't! Body creams and scrubs are intended for your body and are too harsh to use on skin as delicate as your face. You must only use scrubs and creams intended for your face. :-)

Don't use body cream on your face, bcoz the facial skin is different from body, so use facial cream for face and body cream or body scrub for body use, the best product is Neutrogena facial scrub.

Hi,

Body creams, scrubs etc are made for the body, that why the items/products are separate. Body creams are made from ingredients to penentrate through tougher skin and they are heavier. This can make your skin form milia (dry white area around your eyes usually) where there is too mush moisture there and so the skin does the oppisite effect to compensate and dry out.

The scrub will be too corosive for your skin, strip too much of your natural sebum on your epidermis (skin) and so unbalance your skin, which will usually dry out your skin to compensate for the product drying it out.

Your skin on your face is thinner, delicate, and sensitive compared to your skin. So they all should do what they say. So they will moisturise your body, but not your face.

Hope i helped

No, you have to remember that the skin on your face is a lot more delicate and can be more sensitive than on the body. The body scrubs can be a lot harsher as they can be used more than twice a week on the body. While on the face most beauty therapists would advise once or twice a week for facial scrubs and that facial scrubs will be a lot finer and gentler to be use on the face and will remove the dead skin cells from the skin than body scrubs. Body cream on the face won't be a good idea as the skin on the body can be a lot drier on the body than the face. on the face you have to remember that skin types are from normal to oily skins and the skin on the body will be normal to dry. The best way to find out your face skin type will be to visited a beauty salon or a beauty counter in a big shopping department and ask them what products you should be using on your face/ skin. Also that face creams and scrubs are made for face and body scrubs and creams are made for the body.

When making a body scrub, can you use coffee grounds that were already used to make coffee with?

I know that coffee grounds are a great ingredient to make homemade body scrubs with. I don't want to buy coffee just to put it in a scrub, so I'm wondering, if you have already used the coffee grounds to make coffee can you still add them to your scrub? Will it still work and give you the benefits of coffee? I'm wondering because it seems like if you've already made coffee from it, it might have drained all the good things of the coffee away... hope this isn't too confusing how I've phrased it!

Thanks!

Shalom, Salaam

no most importantly they're already too soft, and most of the good elements have been washed away.

Can i mix green tea extract with green tea powder in a body scrub?

I want to make my own green tea body scrub, and am wondering if I can mix green tea powder with green tea extract and sugar.

yes. try to add a little jojoba oil or sunflower oil to it as well. i know that you can order the matcha green tea from origins stores or origins.com. its delicious and it is the most potent green tea on earth derived from the oldest tea fields in japan

Can anyone recommend a really good body scrub that will leave my skin silky smooth?

I am London based. Would preferably rather not spend a fortune on a body scrub.

Thanks.

When I was in London I found the body scrubs by The Sanctuary (Spa at Covent Garden...and also available at Boots) to be lovely. The products smell great, aren't too expensive, and they work very well. Try the Salt Scrub, which comes in a glass jar and costs less £8. Their Kyphi Nourishing Hot Sugar Scrub is truly amazing - but I can't get that here in the States. It heats up a little bit when you use it and the granules are small so they slough off even the tiniest bit of unsmoothness. It also contains moisturizing oils - and costs less than £10. A bargain, I'd say.

I follow my body scrub regiment w/ Body Moisture Spray. Really wonderful results!
