Here's my Christmas present to everyone in Guilford County: Apple's stock price will be over $400 a share by this time next year. Probably over by a lot. As I'm writing this, the stock price is right at $318.

So that's my Christmas present to you. Buy some Apple stock and make a lot of money. If you want to throw some thank you money my way out of your large profits as a return gift to me a year from now, here's the address: Rhino Times, P.O. Box 9421, Greensboro, 27429.

Merry Christmas.

The interesting thing about going on vacation is that, as soon as you get back, there's a whole lot of catching up to do — there are always a lot of loose ends to tie up that became untied, and that remained untied, while you were enjoying yourself like you were the lazy grasshopper in the story of the ant and the grasshopper.

And, this time, I've been away for a while – so, right now, there are many loose ends to tie up.

Looking for hot tub to buy at low price.?

Hi, I live in the UK and I'm looking to buy a hot tub. Too many choices out there and very pricy. Anyone can recommend a site that sell good hot tubs for less than £2000? I'm not looking for something like the Lay-Z-Spa, but a proper thing.
Thanks for recommending.

This company has a good range and at the best prices I found. Ex-display ones do come up on e-bay too - there is also a build your own one here! Good luck :-)

I want to buy a hot tub (4 adults). What should I look for and what do I need to do to reinforce my deck?

I would like to find a hot tub that fits 4 adults comfortably with a few kids thrown in every now and then. I live in the northeast and expect to use it all year long. It will be placed on an existing deck that has 2X6 planks on 2X10 joists. The joists run every 16 inches.

As far as support, you will need to be able to hold 125lbs per square foot. That includes up to a 1000lb hot tub, water and people. Most construction should be able to support that, unless there is rot or some other hindrance.

As far as picking the actual tub
1) Choose a reputable dealer & brand. Look for brands that have 10+ years of sucess.

2) Be cautious when buying from "Big Box" stores. You may get what looks like a bargain, and actually is a nightmare. Consider how long you expect your "investment" to last. Many times spa sold in big box stores offer little to no warranty. Also they are ill-equipped to handle your spa. Should something go wrong, you no local dealer support, only an 800 number. If you are planning on having the spa for up to about 5 years and possibly paying a spa dealer to service it, go ahead and save money by buying at a big box store. If you expect at least 5 years virtually worry free and a total life of 15-20 years, buy a reputable brand from a spa store.

3)Wet Test! Don't buy it until you try it. You wouldn't buy a car without a test drive, and in all reality a good spa will last longer than your car.

4) Price-wise: if it sounds too good to be true, it is. I've seen people on here saying a 5-6 person spa costs around $3300, that makes me suspicious right off the bat. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

no idea

I want to buy a hot tub for my arthritis and exercise (water resistance) but am not sure which one to buy?

I have signed a contract to purchase a Catalina swim spa for $21,000.00 but am not sure I want it now. It's 8x 15 x 5 ft tall. I have no place to put it and am not sure I can or even want to crawl in and out of something 5 ft tall every day. I want a hot tub or something similar for my arthritis and water resistance exercise. I live in OKC and am 55 yrs. old. Any suggestions on the brand hot tub, swim spa or other?

I do not recommend Catalina Spas. The reason is their warranty is awful. One year for labor, Then this crazy 7 year prorated warranty kicks in that covers most everything for 3 years then you get hit for 50%. So your 5hp pumps are going to cost you 300 bucks a piece. Whew! Swimming is great for arth. and warm water. Perhaps look at a Coast Spa Wellness model spa. It's not a swim spa. For swim spas perhaps a Cal Spa with a combo hot tub. Be sure to look at the warranty on all of them. No prorated crap, since there's no reason to make the dealer richer. A decent cheap swim spa I have worked on was ALPS. Good components, Balboa waterway pumps. Bad warranty but the price makes up for it.

By the way...get yur Doctor to write a scrip for it! Tax dedut. then!!!

Which is the best hot tub to buy for under $6,000?

I'm allowing myself $6,000 to spend on a hot tub. I don't need a radio, but I want some nice, powerful jets... I'll be using this for relaxation mostly. Which is the best to buy for the money? I know nothing about these things....

Before you spend a lot look at Softubs. They're awesome; I want one but don't have the money right now.

We want to buy a hot tub. Who is the best manufacturer for a mid range priced hot tub?

The hot tub purchase is not for any health issues, just pleasure. 2-3 people. Are there any specifics I should look for or any good websites?

Try Spa depot on line also Hot Springs has a good selection. We have Hot Springs but I got it for Health reason. I would just go to search for Spa or Hot tubs. Then you can compare Prices and features. Good Luck

Hot Springs hands down. I've dealt with many lines of hot tubs and they are the best in quality for sure. They also offer a line called Tiger River that are more affordable.

We want to buy a hot tub/spa - possibly used. What should we be looking for? What questions should we ask?

We live in a climate that does get a bit chilly & snow (in Arizona - go figure), so I've heard that insulation is really important. The lady I talked to said that foam insulation was the best ... but what about other types? Is there a way to know everything works if we buy a used on that is empty? How are are they to fix if something is broken?

If you are buying a used hot tub, what you should look for is hepatitus C, chlamydia, etc.

Check the heater and pump for corrosion and cracks in the tub!

Parts are usually easy to get a hold of. Some things to look for are water marks around the inlet and exhaust piping, look for cracks in the gel coat, look for noticeable signs of hard water(well water). These will be rust, calcium deposits. With well water you can run into pump problems. Pumps today are plastic and if there is a high iron content the impeller on the pump can become worn out fast. Also look at the wiring on the controls and or pump motor for signs of chaffing, or wires that have gotten hot.

i'll do you a favor and cut the middle man. we have a hot tub/spa that were looking to get rid of! what a coincidence!!!

heres some information about the tub: it can seat 6 adults (or seven if youre feeling frisky LOL!) 22 jets, water capacity 300 gallons, 500 lbs, 79" round 34" tall.

also, i should probably tell you that we never filled it with water, but im not going to tell you what we did fill it with. but i will give you a hint, it was extracted from animals!

xoxo, lawrence

Ask when was it bleached. Hot tubs are bacteria traps. Hope you don't catch anything. Good luck.

I wouldn't buy one from a private person if it wasn't operating when you saw it.
Foam insulation is standard and works well
You need to know the amperage of the circuit breaker needed if it is electric, and you have to know if the spa-pak has built in ground fault protection or do you have to buy a ground fault breaker for the unit.
Make sure it comes with an insulated cover.

And remember..most people use the tub a lot the first year, some the next and not much after that.

So don't spend a lot of money on your first hot tub.
and decide before you buy it, how is it going to get to your place.

Make sure you get an electrician and a permit to install the electrical.
it is too important for a do it yourself project. Do it wrong and someone will get electrocuted.

What is the best hot tub to buy for an outside patio?

We want to put an all season hot tub outside-any ideas and experiences with this? Also what are prices? We want to be able to go out in it in the winter/snow too-

There are good and bad to all, you can spend upwards of $10,000 or so, depending on what options/size you want, or as little as about $3000 getting into the smaller lower quality tubs. The brand we have chosen and are getting ready to buy after doing quite a bit of shopping around and research is Marquis.

www.marquisspas.com

Just shop around, but the best advice I can give is try it before you buy it. Most good dealers have demo tubs set up that you can try in a back room or after hours, and it makes a huge difference sitting in one with water in it trying it for fit and for how the jets feel.

can u buy a hot tub stereo and install it yourself?

we just got a hot tub and we want to get a stereo we were wondering if u can install one yourself? and does anybody know where i can get one???

The stereo itself is easy to install, but it's the speakers that are going to give you a problem. A hot tub stereo is basically just a car stereo that gets mounted into the side of the hot tub instead of the dashboard.

You probably have 220VAC run to the heater and jets. Just take a line of the 220 and run it to a cheap AC/DC supply (because remember, the car stereo runs off of DC power), and then to the stereo.

Now the difficult part. All you have to do is run speaker wires to the speakers and you're done right? The problem is where are you going to mount the speakers? In most new hot tubs, the speaker mount is molded right into the plastic. If you do find a place to mount the speakers, make sure you add a drain hole next to each one, if they are recessed in an area where water can collect.

I am looking to buy a hot tub in St. Louis. Can someone point me to a reputable company?

I want to find someone that is going to be helpful and carries a good brand. I don't want to buy one from a big box store. It needs to go outside on my patio and fit about 5 people.

I have bought 2 hot tubs from Mirage spa in St. louis and they have Sundance spas. I looked at all the brands available here. First I visited the big box stores and they did not have very much information but it was an easy place to start. Then I started to ask around. Once I narrowed down my choices I discovered that I needed to actually try them at the stores. I know it sounds odd but they told me it was like "test driving" a hot tub. After that there was no comparison-Sundance was the winner. I also wanted to deal with a good company that had people that would answer my questions. Mirage spa has a friendly staff that is very helpful and knowledgeable. I have been very happy with their service and they actually listen to me when I call with questions. My experience has been wonderful so when I moved I bought another one from them. I really would recommend Mirage spa to anyone buying a tub in St. Louis.

Where can I buy refurbished hot tub?

hot tubs aren't a refurbish-able commodity. because its composed of universal parts such as a pump, heater, tub and housing you would not find this as a whole refurbished at a refurb price however you might find one with a refurbished pump or heating element and that might knock down the price a little and if that's the case I'd suggest going through your local phone book or http://www.superpages.com and looking for a shop that solely sells pools & spas as the would be your best bet for sucsess in your request.
