CHEMICAL Peel?
How do they perform Chemical Peel on your skin?
Does it hurt?
I have some marks/scars on the legs and arms, can I make it fade/smooth out by getting chemical peel(s) there?
About how much per procedure $?
PLEASE HELP ME!
I have many cute summerdresses, but I'm not comfortable to wear any of them before I've taken care of my issue.
ANY HELP IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED,THANKS!
ANY BETTER ANSWERS/LINKS THAN THAT,PLEASE?
THANKS ANYWAY THOUGH....
Well as far as I know, the tca (medium depth) peel is thought to be much more effective than the alpha hydroxy (includes glycolic) peels, however, they have some down time like 7-10 days. I've been reading that tca peels can cost as much as $1,000 (or more). I'm actually saving up for that kinda peel (so that I can have appeal, lol ;) I have some hyperpigmentation on my face and am hoping that I will have a more youthful appearance.
I've been reading that microdermabrasion doesn't make too much of a difference despite the hype and all. I believe that with chemical peels, one should go to a dermatologist (as opposed to a plastic surgeon) just because the derm are specialists on the skin. And it's best to make sure that which ever dr one goes to is board-certified.
There is a message forum that talks about chemical peels at this site: www.makemeheal.com Very informative and free to register. I looked on the laser treatment board there and found that there are patients that are quite disappointed with the laser as it was too 'ablative' or harsh. So it's great to do one's homework :)
Let me know if interested.
your skin will be very sensitive to the sun for a while after the treatment, most ladies at our place wait till the winter months
before having peels, this should leave your skin repaired for the summer.
ask as many questions as you like here.

How well does a chemical peel work for removing old scars?
i have heaps of old scars on my legs. I have olive skin and my scars are dark. I want to get a chemical peel but first i want to make sure that it is safe before I save up money. How much does it cost? Has anyone here had one for their legs? If so, did it work? I'm so stress about my skin cuz I can't wear any shorts or skirts :( my old scars about 10 years old? help?
yes guys i just have discolorations scars.
Removes the dead layers of your skin. Think about Fraxel laser but BE CAREFUL with it. Another option would be microdermabrasion. It's lovely.
Other options Retinol
Mederma or scar gel (not very useful for old scars but i named them so you know)
Anywhere you go to have it done, DO NOT go to DR. Dover in Boston. He is terrible but he has written books about scar revision....I had terrible results from his laser.
Five methods to reduce the scars:1. Massage method: Please use your palm to massage the scars, three times a day, every 5-10 minutes. This method is best for the wound which just scab off.
2. Ginger friction method: Please use ginger to gently graze at the scars so as to inhibit the growth of granulation tissue.
What exactly is a chemical peel and why do people get them?
I have a lot of redness on the bridge of my nose and it goes down into my cheeks. I exfoliate regularly, so would a chemical peel be the next step to getting rid of it?
chemical peel is generally for fighting against acne. I am not sure if your redness is acne or what but chemical peel does exactly what it says. It peels off the top layers of your skin (of where ever chemical peel is done) and it also sheds off any dead skin cells that might be on your skin because dead skin cells facilitate acne to occur.
It does not hurt, it actually is quite soothing, may get redness post procedure for 24 hours but then redness will go down. You also cannot exfoliate your skin where chemical peel has been performed for anwhere between 1-5 days (depending on what the doctor says). Hope this helps
How expensive is microdermabrasion/chemical peel and is it effective in getting rid of all your acne?
I have lots of small pimples. more of rosacea on my cheeks and have had these for over 3 years now. I have taken some treatments but they dont seem to help much. Does it make sense to go for the laser/chemical peel thing and does it work nd give me a fresh acne free skin? Please Help :-(
Its expensive, for a decent job, and a good doctor. BUT dont waste your money and time, because i had laser and it does not clear your skin. Also tried microdermabrasion, and all I got was scars.
Please google i-clear, for acne, or blue light treatment for acne.
These machines use light to target the bacteria that causes zits, and changed my skin completley.
It works.
Dont waste any money on invasive procedures, there is also down time to consider, and pigmentation after laser and dermabrasion.
i-clear blue light treatment is the ONLY answer, and I tried EVERYTHING, before I found it.
Enjoy your new clear skin, the i-clear also helps, rosacea too.
cheers.

After a TCA Chemical Peel, how long does it take for the skin to actually peel?
I did a TCA chemical peel 2 days ago. The skin did turn a brownish pink, and I have been keeping neosporin on it, but I don't see it peeling. How much longer should it take to peel or scab? Is it normal that it hasn't yet? Thanks!
I used 50% TCA and followed all instructions.
It can take several days before it starts to peel, so it should start to peel within the next couple of days. Please don't worry, it's all perfectly normal and your skin may take up to 2 weeks to look fully heal.
HTH : )
What are the side effects during a Facial Chemical Peel?
It's been 5 days since I had a facial chemical peel done. My face has swelled up and I have a lot of tiny red bumps only on my cheeks that itch very bad. I also feel tightness and dryness around the mouth area is this normal? I received a post care instruction sheet with very little instructional information. I research on line and I see different answers. If anyone has experienced such thing due to a chemical peel please send feedback.
Honestly, it depends on what chemical peel you had. Different ingredients cause different reactions. Call the place you got the peel at and find out the name, then go online to find out the side effects. Most peel companies also have an 800 number to call with questions.
What's normal across the board: tightness and dryness, especially around the mouth, nose and eyes; itching (a result of dryness). A little bit of swelling would be normal.
Depending on the peel the information on their website should have what to do if it itches (often using hydro cortisone cream), etc. It will also contain typical symptoms of an allergic reaction. You should have received moisturizer for aftercare, if not, find out what moisturizers you can use with the peel. That should help with the tightness, dryness and probably itching. If it's a really strong peel, 10 days of downtime is typical.
What are the pros and cons of buying a chemical peel kit?
1. are they safe to use? im 15 turning 16 in a few months
2. i have oily/acne-prone skin
3.i dont have smooth skin
4. i have a few acne scars.
5. what happens to my skin if i use the chemical peel? will my skin damage?
i cant afford to go to dermatoligist cuz my parents dont have insturance!! plz help!! which is better? microdermabrasion or chemical peel?
microdermabrasion at a dermatologist's office is very expensive. results can be seen after 3 sessions which will cost over $100 per session. a chemical peel can be more invasive on the skin but you just need 1 to see results. (you will get red & peel in a few days.) depending on the dermatologist, this will be about $150 (you can call around & price them.) both will "reduce the appearance" of acne scars but nothing we have on the market eliminates them. i vote for the peel (ask for a salicylic acid one) but have one on a thursday so you will be mostly "peeled" when school starts on monday.
good luck!
