Where to go for hair tattoos, dreadlocks and cornrows Inquirer.net

Punk hair or the salons that specialize in them aren’t easy to come by. You’d be forgiven for thinking they’d be found near a row of tattoo parlors, skate shops and biker bars.

Yet one Friday afternoon I found my way to Eastwood City, to check out this Urban Hip Salon called Aztá. The place was somewhere in the midst of the IT hub and commercial center with big retail names, chic coffee shops and trendy galleries catering to the young urban market.

Occupying the second floor of the Citywalk 2 shopping building, the salon blends in seemingly, a perfect venue for its hip yet cozy interiors as well as its niche services.

Aztá is a full-service salon. It has become known for its youthful ’dos inspired by the latest cuts here and abroad. The easy-going vibe is comforting the moment you enter, and the enthusiastic, skilled and personable hair-care experts will have you looking and feeling your hippest.

Services

Aztá is run like a collective; space is shared among seasoned and junior stylists, many of whom have very youthful and free-spirited individuals.

Learn How To Cornrow Hair--Easy To Follow...Simple Steps

Have you ever wanted to learn how to cornrow hair? This video will give you simple and easy steps to help learn the technique. It will take ...

Cornrows . . .?

I have a little girl who is biracial. Her father is black but she's never met him. She has a Leb or Italian complexian (most people ask if she's Leb or Italian) and her hair's texture is like mine. Would it look dumb for her to get cornrows? I think she'd look so cute, but I'm afraid that others will think it's dumb. My other question is, most white people see her as white. Most people of other races see her as biracial and they ask what her background is. Is it easy for a black person to recognize a biracial (b/w) person?

Don't worry about what people say or think,do the cornrows on her hair.I'm white and I've have them and a lot of different hairstyles.Your little girl will be hella cool with them!Good luck!

Im Bi-racial and I look white but I still get em' they will be cute.

cornrows are a hairstyle it can be worn by anyone with hair long enough to braid..there is no reason why not..

If your daughter is happy to get the braids, then let her get them. if the other children make fun of her, explain it to her. they are jealous because her hair looks better than theirs.

How long to hair braids and cornrows stay on a caucasian like hair?

I went on vacation to the caribbean and got my hair braided. (top is cornrows, then braids all the way down with beads) How long do they last and what shud i do to care for them?

they dont last that long with the type of hair you have becuase your hair is soft and really just doesnt stay in place.a way to try to make them last longer and still look good...just wrap your hair in a scarf or something on that idea when you sleep

It doesn't Matter
What type of
Race You Are
Cornrows and braids
tend to get nappy,
and have little frizzes
all over the braids/cornrows
because you sleep on them,
Tossing and turning makes
them get frizzy.

After a couple of days
it gets nappy anyways.
Sooo......
I guess I answered your question!

How do I keep my cornrows looking fresh?

I am an african american lady who wears corn rows quite often. I'm looking for the best solution to keep my cornrows looking their best.

keep them greased or oil sheened and tie a scarf on them after u grease or oilsheened them!

keep greasing them thats all i can say

Humm..well the best way to keep them "alive" lol is not to wet them and oil them from time to time just a little, for it to have the shinny effect ;). It works for me..so hopping it does for you.
Take care.

How long do I let my hair grow to get braids or cornrows ?

How long do I let my hair grow to get braids or cornrows ?

I have short hair right now How long ? How many months do i have to wait ?

It depends on if your hair grows fast or not. If it grows fast then I would say about a month. It has to be long enough for someone to catch it when braiding. If it grews slow it will be atleast 2-3 months.

yuck!

dont

it depend on how much your hair grows,

dont need to, go to any skilled braider (black women do it well) and they can braid your hair as is. if we cannot see your scalp, you are good to go

They are so much in style anymore like they used to be.... first i would rethink if you want them.... also there is the pain because braids hurt (pulling at the hair to make it look even and last for a while).... Most pro's can braid with a good inch or inch and a half.

You can do it now (see answer above), but I would recommend you wait until your hair is about mid-back, or standard length.

Normal hair would take about 2 - 3 months to grow to that length.

well if oyu have sort hair you should grow it to about just touching ur shoulders

What is it called when you get cornrows and extensions?

What is it called when you get cornrows and they add full head extensions that look and feel like real hair? Also what would happen if you took a shower with those extensions, would they just dry and be back to normal? How often do you have to get them changed?

I straighten my hair sometimes and it feels and looks like its naturally straight. So i want the effect without that much work, being able to get it wet with out it being crazy poofy. Sorry for so many qs.
what are the costs?

it's called a weave, and they aren't cornrows that they sew them into, they're little braids. You have to be very careful when washing your hair. The shampoo and conditioner loosens the braids. The more you wash them, the easier they will fall out. I got them once and they only lasted a week. If you're going to get extentions, get clip in ones, or get them bonded in. Getting them bonded is the best, it lasts up to a few months and looks and feels alot more real, but it's VERY expensive, usually atleast $1200.

a weave?

a weave.

Its called a weave. Yeah they would dry, but you will have to style it. You change them at least after 5 weeks, but prob sooner, they get disgusting...I dont like weaves, they uncomfortable and high maintenance. Try clip ins, they are great and soo much cheaper, let me know if you need more help

a weave to my knowledge its soo much more expensive for real hair but its worth it

How to i keep my cornrows looking good and last longer?

had them done a few months ago and they only lasted me a week due to them not giving me any care instructions!
im having them done again tomorrow and im a white girl with long straight hair, can any one advise me on how to look after the cornrows so they dont come loose or look frizzy? thanks in advance!

Use Paul Mitchell conditioner. nm

oil ur scalp lightly after getting them done
spray with soft hold hair spray whenever u have loose strands and use fine brush to tuck them in place
use a soft ans smooth scarf to tie ur hair when u go to bed

Where a scarf or bonet everynight when you go to bed...keep your scalp greased and spray your cornrows with braid sheen. This should keep them looking good and they should last for about 2 weeks.

oh simple you should sleep with a scraf on your head and spray with holding spray so they can stay still. Not to be about race but i am a black girl i know about cornrows so trust me. Good luck

You need to start wrapping up your hair at might in a silk scarf to keep the hair laying flat and stay in place, also start spraying your hair with a braid spray to keep it looking fresh.

What is the best and cheapest place in MN to get cornrows done?

I plan on getting my hair done in cornrows within the next month. But I want a place thats cheap (well as cheap as you can get for something like this) and can do it right. I am looking for a place in any of these cities, Maplewood, Shoreview, Arden Hills, Roseville, and St. Paul (only if there isnt a place in the rest of the cities listed.) Thanks for any contributions in advance!

What Products to use for cornrows to stop frizz?

Hey does anyone know what products that works realy good on cornrows to stop the frizz? I have tried Cornrow Magic but that doesn't help, it just makes my hair stink. Got any ideas?

dr.miracle's products are very effective. i know their braid spray is good for tightness, and im pretty sure they have one for frizz control as well

other than cornrow magic, I'm not sure what else you can use instead of some other sort of antifrizz spray (try something from Phyto). They sell it at nordstrom, sephora, and some other places, too. Here's a website to check it out: http://www.phyto-usa.com/antifrizz.asp.

also, I don't know if you're already doing this, but remember to put a stocking over your head at night to prevent frizz from building up.

hope this helps!

How long does straight hair have to be to get cornrows?

Hello im trying to get my hair braided into cornrows .I want to get it braided when i go to miami because there is a braider at the hotel i am goin to.My hair is straight and when i go there it will be about 2 3/4 inches. My hair is realy thick because im pueter rican. Will she be able to braid my har and how long does it have to e to get braided?

A good braider only needs about an inch of hair really. Dont worry your hair will be long enough to get the job done!

Do cornrows look good on other races, besides african americans?

Not trying to be racist, but since african americans are the most common wearers of cornrows. Im a chinese dude, you think it might work for me?

Unless someone is mixed (black and white) or fully black, then it looks awful.

Remember Kevin Federline, anyone? haha.
