Transitions names first winner in 12 Days of Christmas fundraiser State Gazette

On the first day of Christmas, Transitions gave to Judy Cannon of Newbern...a Kate Spade Crystal Rose Bowl.

The bowl, donated by Gift and Art Shop of Memphis, was the first prize awarded in the second annual Transitions 12 Days of Christmas fundraiser, a new twist on a favorite Christmas classic that began on Monday, Dec. 14.

Names will be drawn each day between now and Christmas for prizes donated by area businesses. Winners will be announced through a live drawing on WASL radio station and in the following edition of the State Gazette.

The Grand Prize drawing, drawn on Christmas Day, features a two-night stay at Doubletree Hotel in Memphis, dinner for two at Cal's Championship Steakhouse, and two tickets to the Region's Morgan-Keegan Championship Tennis Tournament. The Grand Prize package was donated by Cooper Realty and Hotels, in Memphis.

Tickets are on sale for $10 each or three for $25. One ticket provides an opportunity for all 12 drawings.

Prizes left include:

What is the difference in a pedicure from a discount nail salon and one from a spa?

You'll need to read what is performed for what you pay. Sometimes there is no difference in the service, you might be paying for: that nicer chair you sit on, the longer length of time it takes for the service to be performed in order to feel pampered, high rent on the location maybe?, etc., etc.

You get it.

DO THEY HAVE DISCOUNT COUPONS FOR THE Car Spa in Norco, CA?

WHERE CAN I FIND THEM

no...they just ran out...sorry

Does anyone know how to get discounts at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel as well as the Spa in New York City?

Despite the obvious, working there or getting someones employee discount, that is not an option. Neither is getting someone to pay for it.

Can anyone recommend a good spa in North County San Diego?

I've seen a few websites for spas, but I was wondering if anyone knew of good spas in Oceanside, Fallbrook, Vista, or Carlsbad. Bonus if they give military discount.

I work for a big skin care company and you can find a spa near you on our web site. I know there are quite a few in those areas. The web site is dermalogica.com and then click on U.S. and then "get dermalogica" enter your zip code and it will give you a list of all the spas in your area. Hope this helps! :)

Disney employees...? re: discount?

Do Disney employees receive discounts on spa services at the hotels? I know they receive discounts on hotel rooms, food and parks, but not sure about spa services.
Need to know so that I can find someone to help me out with a gift for husband's birthday. Thanks!

I think we do.

average massage therapist commission at spa?

This is a question directed at spa owners or massage therapists who have worked in a spa earning commission...
What percentage of the fees paid for massage did you payto/receive as massage therapists? When you offered discounts (i.e: packages, memberships) did the massage therapist take the cut or did the spa pay the full percentage the therapist would have received if it were a full-price therapy?

Thanks!

What does the spa provide? Table, oils, linens? Do they handle the appointments?

If the spa does all that, then 50% works for me.
If I must provide everything then, try for 80/20. And thats 80% to you (the therapist).

Is Spa Week coming back to Los Angeles anytime soon? I hear you can get major discounts at a bunch of day spas

I heard that you can get awesome treatments at some of LA's best day spas for only $50 during Spa Week. I think it was going on around this time last year - does anyone know if it's happening again anytime soon or know where I can find more information about it?

Yes - I just got an email about Spa Week from ChillOutLA.com! It starts on Sept 18th. You can see a full list of the Los Angeles day spas that will be offering $50 treatments and get more information here:

I can't wait!

I would really like to know myself! I love going to spas...

Thanks above!

Should I cancel at this spa?

I called on Wednesday and booked over $500 worth of services for one day at a spa for my vacation next month. While on the phone she said I could get a substantial discount for all the services I had booked, and she would get back to me with an adjusted figure. I called back about one hour later because I thought I had forgot to include one of the services I was wanting but had included it in the total figure that I had come up with. I wanted to make sure she would be able to book enough time for the service, or if not, then find a comparable service for my sister-in-law. The woman I spoke with said she was in the car driving, but she would call back when she had the book in front of her. Today (Saturday) I called back both numbers I could find for the spa and both had the same message (leave message and call would be returned within the hour). Four hours later I called back, left another message, and got a call back from a pretty rude gentlemen.Should I cancel and book at another spa?
I had asked the gentleman just how many people booked so many services for a single day, and he said plenty as they do lots of parties and weddings. I just wonder though, how many of those people waited three days for a one hour call return. I have worked in services, and I would have lost my job if my boss knew that I took more than one day to return a customer's call. ESPECIALLY if they were spending a good deal of money or had questions about something that was already booked.

were expecting a certain type of service and was disappointed on the phone, chances are this spa isn't your type of place.

i know, i'm a hairstylist, how the reception area can be. we've had rude people, girls who don't know what they're doing OR talking about, don't return phone calls, etc. this says absolutely NOTHING about how someone's hair will come out, but it DOES say something about what kind of atmosphere the salon presents.

i am a good hairstylist, and so are every single one of my coleagues. we are very professional, we recommend good products, we listen to our clients, provide them with what it is that they want, and keep up with our education. basically, we're good stylist, it's a good salon, and we have a good name. BUT you will not be doted upon, i will not cator to your every need and make sure that you don't need anything every second that your sitting in my chair. its a busy place, its a hectic place, and you get that idea from the person who answers the phone (i.e. their attitude, how quickly they call back, how organized they are, etc.).

if you were expecting a different experience on the phone, chances are, you will expect a different experience at the spa too. i'm not saying the people performing the services aren't good at what they do...i'm sure they are, and are very busy. but if you want a nice, calm, relaxing, and organized experience, you probably wont get it.

hope i could help! good luck....

another thing, you can usually tell what a place is going to be like by their prices...rediculously outrageous prices usually indicate a level of sophistication, professionalism, and impecable service. if your paying $100 for a haircut, you better get your ass kissed, right?

babyliss bath spa soft wont stay down!!!!!!?

just brought a spa bath, but the suction caps wont stay on the bath and keeps floating to the top, very annoyed as my other half has dismissed it already and he wont be using it again luckily for me it was at discount price at £12 (down from £75!!!)
anyone got any ideas apart from gluing it to the bath??????

Take it back ...it sounds faulty !!
