Law firm sues state on behalf of eyebrow threaders Bizjournals.com

A civil liberties law firm has filed suit against the state of Texas on behalf of eight eyebrow-threading entrepreneurs, several of whom are based in San Antonio.

The Institute for Justice, Texas Chapter, is alleging the state government has violated the entrepreneurs’ constitutional rights by requiring them to go through a licensing process that mandates 1,500 hours of instruction at an estimated cost of $20,000.

The lawsuit was filed in Travis County District Court. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), which is the agency directly impacted by the litigation, said in a statement that the Texas Attorney General’s Office represents the agency in this matter and will respond to the petition as is appropriate. "Under Texas law threading is a cosmetology procedure and is regulated by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation," said Susan Stanford, spokesperson for the department. "Threading must be performed by a licensed cosmetologist or licensed facialist in a licensed salon that meets all sanitation requirements."

How long does it take for eyebrow hair to grow back fully?

About 8 weeks ago I accidentally shaved off some of my eyebrow hair. Its been 8 weeks and my eyebrow still looks too short in that area. I know what my eyebrow shape is(was) , and it still looks different compared to my other one (only one little bit, but still). How long will it be until it grows back fully to how it was before???

What are the dangers of getting an eyebrow piercing?

I am thinking about getting an eyebrow piercing, a bar, not a ring. I am a guy. I am not so much worried about the pain, but the after-effects. If, for instance, I happen not to like the piercing, would I be able to take it out and have it heal up? I also heard that if you have thicker, fattier eyebrows, getting a piercing is safer. Is that typically true? I am kind of just more worried about having my eyebrow sag after I decide that I may not want it anymore, or having really unattractive scar tissue. Opinions?

If you take it out within a few weeks, you will have very minimal scars, you probably won't even see them after a few months. If you leave it in longer then take it out, you will have two small scars that should be hidden by your eyebrow.

Rejection is possible with eyebrows, but not as common as some would have you believe. If you have a good, pronounced brow ridge, the chances of rejection are slim.

You shouldn't have any issues with sagging, unless you're wearing large, heavy jewelry. Properly placed eyebrow piercings should have enough tissue to support the jewelry without sagging.

Curved barbells are best for initial jewelry, because they get snagged less. If you go somewhere that insists on using a ring, run away. Rings need to be very large to accommodate any swelling, move around too much in the piercing and are much easier to get caught on clothing or hair (because of the large size needed).

If you decide you don't like it, you can always take it out. However it will take a really long time to heal. Everyone I know who had that done did have an enlarged eyebrow and it looked kinda bad. Overall, I would advise against it.

Hiya,
The biggest danger with eyebrow piercings is that they are considered surface piercings which means the jewelery tends to migrate (grow out of the skin). If left to migrate, you could find yourself missing a chunk of skin where the bar used to be. If you find that the piercing is starting to grow out and the jewelery gets closer and closer to the surface of the skin, remove it to minimize scarring. The assumption that fatter/thicker eyebrows are safer generally means the piercing is deeper so migration is slower.

As with all piercings, there is a possibility that you will have a small amount of scar tissue at the entry and exit holes. I doubt you'll be left with sagging skin but you might have scar tissue which can be helped by using bio-oil or vitamin E oil to help the skin repair itself. The skin has amazing healing abilities so if you decided you didn't like it and took it out fairly soon after getting it done, the holes will close up fairly quickly. But like I said, every piercing has the possibility of leaving scar tissue. As long as you take proper care of the piercing, this should be minimal.

Hope this helped

i've never heard of an eyebrow piercing sagging unless the person put to heavy of a jewelry in it. the only real risk is of an infection if you do not properly clean it per the piercers after care instructions. we always prefer to use the circular jewelry because of ease of cleaning and straight barbells pull on the skin too much and can actually grow out. if you decide to take it out the scar is very very minimal. just make sure you go to a licensed tattoo shop or piercing shop to have it done.

I had an eyebrow piercing once and absolutely loved it. The piercer was awesome, it was placed wonderfully, didn't hurt at all and my body didn't reject the piercing. However, I took it out on my wedding day and after being out for just half a day, it healed up to where I couldn't put it back in. In my situation it healed extremely fast. When it healed, it left a very little scar, you can hardly notice it.

Good luck!

How can i hide an eyebrow piercing while its new and when its healed up?

i'm planning on getting an eyebrow piercing and was wondering how i could hide it when i go to classes. the university prohibits piercings but only some professors are strict about this

i have heard of spacers and retainers but have no clue what they look like. a website would be most useful

so how much time do eyebrow piercings take to heal enough for me to take the 1st piercing out (to replace it with spacers or something) and to fully heal?

hide it with a plaster while it is healing and you can get retainers from your piercer of online from places like pierced fish www.piercedfish.com retainers are clear plastic bars which you can have either flesh colouered balls of clear balls on the end. I'm not sure how long it will take to heal probably between 2 and 3 months.

hide it behind your hair, and spacers are something you put on your teeth to make them have the right amount of room in your mouth. once you have it pierced you leave it in until it you are told to take it out, then put different ones in. like ear piercing.

Get side bangs and put your hair over it.

What is considered a badly plucked eyebrow?

My friend got her eyebrow plucked and it doesn't necesarrily look bad, its just obvious and looks different on her face. Does that mean its badly plucked or does it just take some getting used to for any eyebrow pluck?

well this can interpreted differently, but 'cleaning up' the brow is the only plucking/waxing/threading that should ever be done. If the shape of the brow is changed too much and the natural arch integrity is destroyed, it looks awful. The space between the brows should be cleaned up (i.e. no unibrow, straggling hairs) and the underside of the brow should be cleaned up, and occasionally the top, although for a lot of people this should be left for the professionals, since overplucking is easy to do and hard to grow out.
Anastasia says it with pictures:

Oh god, and the 'tadpole' eyebrows the girl mentioned scream trash, they are dreadful looking. Those are almost worse than shaved off and tattooed on brows, ugh. I see so many beautiful girls ruin their pretty eyes with this hideously unnatural look. I hope this is not how your friend's turned out. Basically, when you get your brows done, all you should notice is beautiful, striking, and sparkling eyes.

It doesn't have to be crooked or have bare spots to be badly plucked. An eyebrow should be shaped to fit the face nicely. It's possible that whoever plucked her eyebrows doesn't know how to shape the eyebrows to match her face. You have to take into account the eye shape, the shape of the face, etc. Also, many time eyebrows are plucked too thin - that looks dreadful on any person. Luckily it will grow back.

The badly plucked eyebrow is when it looks like a tadpole on your face -- meaning the front (facing your nose, cetner, w/e) is huge and then it's really thin all the way back. Looks like a circle and a line. I don't know how to explain but basically it's OVERPLUCKED :P Looks pretty bad from far away, obvious..

Do eyebrow hairs grow continuously, or do they grow to a certain length and then fall out?

my friend thinks that they grow continuously and dont fall out, and you have the same eyebrow hairs your whole life, thats why old men have such bushy eyebrows. i think that they grow to a certain length and fall out after awhile with new ones growing to replace them. who is right?

your friends...

You are right. Eyelashes and Eyebrows have a growing stage, a resting stage, and a shedding stage. They grow in cycles. Any dermatologist can verify this.

Your friend is right.

How can you get rid of an eyebrow ring scar?

A previous eyebrow piercing left a scar with a hole by my eyebrow. I a very insecure about it. I would ike to get rid of it. I have heard of getting plastic surgery but what kind of surgery woud it be considered as and where should I go? Haas anyone had this same problem?

First of all you should have thought about the out come before getting it pierced..

Second, To have the scare removed or hidden you better have the money to do it since any type of insurance won't cover the cost.

Learn to live with your poor judgement...
We all do

How do I change the direction my eyebrow hair grows?

My eyebrow hair grows vertically up. It looks normal when geled to the side in a more horizontal direction. Eyebrow hair is not verylong is there still a way to change the direction it grows forever. Rather that gelling them all the time?

Sorry but there's nothing you can do most eyebrow hair grows upward if it is to straight and there long enough trim them alittle or go and have an arch put into them

How long will it take for my eyebrow to grow back?

I got really drunk last night and some dumbass shaved the middle part of my eyebrow clean off. I have pretty bushy eyebrow naturally. How long will it take for it to grow back?

fully grown about 6 weeks, trim all of your eyebrow go to a professional, and it will take less as everyhing will be short.
