Facial Skin Care Tips : How to Use Facial Scrubs

Improve your facial skin care routine and learn how to use facial scrubs from an expert in this free skin care video. Expert: Casey Switch Bio ...

What is the proper way to care for your skin? What is a facial?

For a woman!

What is included in a daily facial/skin care routine?

Does it go like this?

Wash with scrubbing stuff
Wash with facial soap
Wash with cleanser
Put on lotion
Put on eye cream
Put on sunscreen
Put on makeup

How is this supposed to go?

What exactly is a facial anyway?
Can I buy the stuff I need at the store?

Its a surprise for my wife!

Before we start with the proper daily step-by-step skincare routine, you'll need to know her skin type. How you care for your skin is utterly dependent on the type of skin you have: oily, normal/combination, dry, sensitive or sun- damaged.

The characteristics of skin are:

Normal to Dry:
Normal – Not too oily or dry, few blemishes, skin is firm and is generally smooth with small pores. Dry – Due to sun and age, skin may lack natural oils. May look smooth with fine pores, few blackheads and blemishes.

Normal to Oily:
Normal – Not oily or dry, few blemishes, skin is firm and is generally smooth with small pores. Oily – Shiny and coarse, may have recurring blackheads and enlarged pores, often youthful looking.

Combination:
Oily T-zone (forehead, nose and chin). Normal to dry around cheeks and throat. Can be oily along chin, jaw, temples and dry elsewhere.

Acne/Blemishes:
Generally oily. Blackheads and pimples. Potential scarring and pitting.

Sensitive:
Extremely delicate. Broken capillaries, veins and vessels beneath skin surface. Should not be over stimulated.

Mature:
Fine lines. Loose, “crépe-like” appearance. Loss of elasticity.

After choosing your skin type now we can proceed with the step-by-step for a good skin care regimen. This is my skin care regimen from Arbonne http://arbonnepuertorico.myarbonne.com

Step 1: NutriMinC RE9 REnewing Gelée Créme, Hydrating Wash Should be used in the morning and evening.

Step 2: NutriMinC RE9 REveal Facial Scrub or NutriMinC RE9 RElease Deep Pore Cleansing Masque (this is optional to the set) Used after cleansing up to two times per week.

Step 3: NutriMinC RE9 REstoring Mist Balancing Toner Should be used in the morning and evening.

Step 4: NutriMinC RE9 REversing Gelée Transforming Lift
In the morning or on special occasions, wait at least two or three minutes before applying NutriMinC RE9 Reactivating Facial Serum Day & Night.

Step 5: NutriMinC RE9 REactivating Facial Serum Day/ Night
Should be used in the morning and evening, used after RE9 Toner if not using RE9 Lift

Step 6: NutriMinC RE9 REality Day Crème or NutriMinC RE9 Recover Night Crème Day Crème used in the morning, Night Crème in the evening.

Step 7: NutriMinC RE9 REpair Corrective Eye Crème
Should be used in the morning and evening.

Following these steps you will definately give her the best gift ever!!! The amazing results are awesome

i just wash my face everyday and night

a facial is just a special mix that cleans your face. a facial mask dries up and then you peel it off after about 10 or 20 mintues

you QT pie!!
before bed: you do want a gentle exfoliant (nothing with walnut shell or peach pits, use an oat bar or something like it) then an eye cream and facial moisturizer.
in the morning: just pure cool water, then a light moisturizer. a good one will have spf in it.
doing too much to your face will irritate it.
drink lots of water, don't smoke, keep alcohol moderate.
getting a facial lets a professional do it deeper and involves extractions and a masque. these are good also in moderation, 6x per year tops.

Not the sunscreen part! A facial is when they put a mask that smoothes and cleans your skind! Sometimes they out makeup on you!

You silly- you just go to your local auto parts store and buy a quart of motor oil. It works wonders, been using if for years.

Is Suki facial skin care products ok for sensitive skin?

I recently learned about the Suki brand of facial skin care products. I often get red skin when I use products so I'm wondering if anyone with sensitive skin has had success with this brand? Here is where I learned about the brand: http://www.lilou-organics.com/scripts/brands_suki.asp

Would appreciate good and bad feedback as I'm looking for a moisturizer for the winter months.

before using have skin patch test

it may take you a week or two to get use this new product. if redness occurs two weeks after use of this product get one that is made for sensitive skin.

What are some facial skin care products that don't have petroleum in them?

My skin has become extremely sensitive due to GLOBAL WARMING and I feel very determined to change my entire skin care line from Neutrogena to a more trusted brand.. what's out there.. pure coconut, carrot, olive, shea, or something a long those lines.. thanks!

There's a range of skincare products called Miessence. They are 100% certified organic and definitely DO NOT contain petroleum. AND they are a carbon neutral company so they don't leave their carbon footprint on the world either.

They do their ordering on line and you get things delivered to you very quickly. I've had things sent to me in the States as well as Australia.

Also, if you check out the website (I've put it in the 'Source' section) there's a lot on other environmental information there.

Hope this helps,

Is it ok to use different product brands in my facial skin-care routine?

Right now I use Garnier nutritionist Cream cleanser then use zia skin basics rosewater toner and twice a week substitute it for aveda exfoliant. Then I use dove sensitive skin facial lotion. I am wondering if this is ok on my skin? Also I am in my teens (young teens)

Yes, it's fine.

definitely. it's also best to mix up your routine a bit (sounds like you do) so your skin doesn't become immune to the affects of the products you are using. brand is irrelevant, it matters that you use products that are good for your skin.

Yes, it is okay.
But if u want a more effective result try for same brands.

Yes it is fine. I do. I use generic apricot scrub, ( check your labels, not all generics are the exact formula of the name brand) and then Netrogena Face Wash. I also use Oil of Olay Facial Toner. It works like an astringent, but is more gentle then most.

That sounds like a whole lot of petroleum chemicals. I hope the proven risks don't outweigh the benefits for you.

What's a really good daily facial skin care program?

I'm 40 with Swedish, sensitive skin. I'm concerned about aging.

I've been using a skin care system (Pure Simplicity) from Bath & Body works for years but they discontinued it. Now I have the sample pack for Patricia Wexler's daily skin care. I like it but it is rather expensive.
Any suggestions?

apply papaya pulp with pinch of salt and few drops of honey

Since I went to a dermatologist for dry skin and eczema, I have been using Cetaphil soap. I really like it and have had no problems with break outs or dehydrated skin. I started to use Pond's cold cream also as my Mom has used it all her life and she is beautiful. I am in my 30's and started to see signs of age so I thought I better use what she uses.

Every night I wash with the Cetaphil and rinse with cold water to close up my pores. Then I load the Pond's on to sleep. Next day I do it again and put my make-up on. My skin has never been better. Good Luck!

thats what i hate about bath and body works. they are always discontinuing things. grrrrr! let me tell you what keeps me looking young. noxema in the jar. its a cold cream. ive used it since i was like 11 or 12 and have used it ever since. im 45. i have never had any issues with my skin and have been complimented on it many times. give it a try. morning and night, every day. its inexpensive and its a great product you can pick up at any drugstore or grocery store.

I used to waste alot of money and time buying useless products that caused me breakouts and finally I tried Dove products they have a great line and for sensitive fair skin like mine it works great no more breakouts and It saves me alot of money too. I hope it works for you .

Nivea or Marykay. Both classic products and have anti-aging skincare lines. Non-irritating as well.

Mary Kay TimeWise is the best stuff I tried. I love it. My face is softer and glowing with no age spots or wrinkles. And it's safe for sensitive skin like mine.

I am in LOVE with arbonne RE9 Kit. It is a bit price, ranging from about $275 for the whole kit, but the products last you a whole year with normal use.
You have to get it from an arbonne consultant, or you can try ebay.

This is what I suggest:

1. Wash your face once in the morning and once at night with Cetaphil, or if you want to exfoliate, St. Ives Apricot Scrub for sensitive skin. It effectively exfoliates your skin gently, giving us women a clen, vibrant glow. Remember, too much washing strips our face of natural oils, making us prone to wrinkles and dryness.

2. If your face is not oily, avoid using toners, because again, if you do not need it, it will just dry up your face.

3. Follow up with an anti-aging eye cream, like that of L'oreal's Revitalift eye cream.

4. Use a time-appropriate (day or night) facial moisturizer. Remember, a good facial moisturizer is the best investment for youthful skin. I use Olay Total Effects.

5. If your facial moisturizer has no SPF properties, remember to put on sunscreen because sun do damages the skin.

6. This is a personal suggestion. Avoid too much facial expressions because I believe it causes crowfeet, fine lines and wrinkles. It is okay to smile and laugh, just ease up on the frowning and other.

STAY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

You should totally try Artistry. They have nothing less than amazing products. You would probably want the time defiance skin care system. I know alot of ladies your age and even ladies in their early 20's that are already using this stuff and they can't stop ranting and raving about how good it is.

Paula's Choice

Have you heard of Arbonne? It's formulated in Switzerland and made in the US. Arbonne's revolutionary anti-aging system (hydrating wash, balancing toner, facial serum, transforming lift, corrective eye cream, day crème, and night crème) is specifically formulated to reduce the affects of sun damage, decrease fine lines and wrinkles, while it works to combat the visual signs of aging. The system consists of botanically based products that contain natural collagens (hyaluronic acid), giving your skin a natural lift and others to deeply condition and hydrate your skin. They're all pure, safe, beneficial, hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested, and formulated without alcohol, wax, dyes, chemicals, fragrances, acetone, or mineral oil. They're unlike any others on the market as they are formulated in Switerland and made with all 9 KEY anti-aging elements (KOJIC ACID, NANOSPHERES, COPPER, VITAMIN C, ALPHA & BETA HYDROXY ACIDS, PEPTIDES, BIO-HYDRIA, ELHIBIN & STIMUTEX, and ALPHA LIPOIC ACID), giving you maximum benefit.

Their products are also formulated with nanosphere technology which makes them beneficial for all skin types and adjusts to your skins specific needs by applying more moisture in dry areas and less is oily areas. I like this because I have an oily T-zone. Arbonne has helped to even out my skin tone as well as keep my skin looking radiant, without looking oily or greasy. Research shows that 6 months continued use of this system will give a 68% decrease in DEEP density lines and wrinkles; however I started to notice results within a week or two.

Arbonne even has anti aging products for your entire body including a hydrating body wash, body serum, hydrating body lotion, and essential fatty acid dietary supplement, a concentrated blend of flaxseed oil, CoQ10 and beneficial elements to support younger-looking skin and good health ... from the inside, out ... and formulated in a vegetarian capsule. It's made of Flaxseed oil, vitamins A, C, E, Coenzyme Q10, alpha lipoic acid. I love the NutriMinC Re9 Anti-Aging Body Serum and Hydrating Body Lotion.

The products come in pre measured pumps so there is no waste. I love this because I don't like measuring my products. It's hard to try and determine how much eye crème or moisturizer is most beneficial. This way, just 1 pump is all you need! If you're interested in learning more, send me an email and I'll help you.

What is the best over the counter, anti-aging, facial skin care product?

Looking for an effective, readily available, anti aging facial cream. What to look for when shopping for one.
I am lookiing for a brand name here, not generalized information on how the products should or can work.

What products work. What ingrediants to look for. None of us have time to try them all.

Olay's Regenerest got good reviews from dermatologists.

Here are some tips for beautiful skin :

* Don't go to bed with makeup on. Makeup left on overnight seeps into your pores, clogs them, and congests your skin. Make sure that you wash your face twice at the end of the day. Once to get the makeup off. A second time to wash the skin itself.

* Exfoliate daily. After washing your face at night, be sure to exfoliate. Use a delicate scrub. If you don't have one on hand, a tablespoon of sugar or oatmeal will work just fine.

* Use facial masks regularly. If possible, everyday is ideal. Again, if you don't have one on hand, make your own. Mashed banana or avocado is good. Plain yogurt also works well.

* Keep a treatment and moisturizer on your face, day or night. Put your skin first. After you wash it at night, put on some kind of skin treatment, whether it's alpha hydroxy acids, vitamin A or C, or any kind of special cocktail treatment. Let that sink in, then put a moisturizer over that. In the morning, do the same.

* Don't use the cheapest or most expensive cosmetics. Mom tells me that moderately priced cosmetics are the best. They get the job done, and the ingredients are usually pretty good. You have to keep trying various brands until you find something that works well for you.

* Hydrate your face throughout the day. Whether it's a commercial product, or one you make yourself (fill a spray bottle with distilled water, add a few drops of chamomile or rose essential oil, shake it gently before each use, and spray it on) hydrate your face, even over makeup, frequently throughout the day.

* Treat your face gently. Never pull, tug, or scrub your facial skin. Be very gentle when you clean it, moisturize it or makeup on it. This will lessen the chance that you'll damage your skin and get wrinkles.

* Keep your face covered when you're in the sun. As beautiful as she is, my mom never lets anyone see her face when she's in the sun. She'll slather on a high factor sunscreen, put on sunglasses, and a wide brimmed hat.

* Eat fresh foods and drink lots of water. My mom tells me to stay away from "dead food" food that's basically not fresh. She always eat lots of veggies, fruits, nuts, and drinks tons of water.

* Let go of stress. Stress can show up on your face, no matter how well you take care of your skin. Do something your enjoy everyday, whether it's watching TV or going shopping. Your face reflects what's going on inside of your mind.

Hope i could help ♥

Is my dermatologist right on facial skin care?

M dermatologist told me that when the skin on our face becomes dry and flaky, we should NOT apply moisteriser as that makes the flakes of dead skin stick back down and clogs the pores. Instead, she said it is better to apply nothing to the face that night, so the skin can renew itself or to apply a very light serum. I was astonished as I thought the answer to dry flaking skin was to moisterise. Is she right or is she talking nonsense? I thought a serum moisterised anyway?

Your dermatologist is right. Moisturiser is to stop dry flaky skin from occurring in the first place not to cure it. If your skin is flaking moisturiser won't cure it, you have to wait for the skin to flake off. Your skin renews itself naturally while you sleep. Gentle exfoliating helps, but be careful not to over exfoliate as this can irritate the skin underneath.
