What is the best family resort in Phoenix or Scottsdale?

My family is going to vacation in Phoenix and need a place to stay. We want a nice family resort or something along those lines. We have a 14, 12, and 10 year old all boys and want to make sure that they don't get bored.

My kids and I stay at the Hilton @ Sqauw peak It's a nice 4 star resort with a water park for the kids and spa for the adults with a reasonable rate.

Or we stay at Wildhorse Pass and Casino a little further out of town but still nice with a water park and river boat trips to RawHide an old west attraction.
hope this helped you can check them out on the net

Scottsdale is the best!

The Pointe at South Mountain is great.

I stayed at the Sheraton wild horse pass resort and spa

its so nice the spa is the best one I ever gone to and they have big pools with a huge water slide which is fun for the kids its really pretty when we stayed there we had a patio with the veiw of the mountains.

What is good family resort in Punta Cana with LOTS to do?

I need a great resort for our family vacation. It needs to be on the beach, with lots of water sports, close to shopping and close to a casino. It also would have to have good night life--like shows, music, and bars. Some of our favorites on other islands include Our Lucaya in Freeport and Atlantis in Nassau--so something similar would be good. Thanks for your help!

Try to talk with your travel agent, because for this kind of vacation, I suggest you to consider to go to Puerto Plata (much better!) bigger beaches, lot to do and this day and night! Town is 10 min away from resorts with public bus! Ocean World is also over there!.
Punta Cana is only a hotel strip with nothing to do outside, town is 45 miles away!
I hope this helped.

What is the best family resort in Cuba?

I am looking for an all-inclusive resort in cuba for the family. I would like to be on the beach and have activities for a 10 year old.

i would recommend NH Krystal in Cayo Coco. I just went there wonder full. Just renovated. Lots of pools. Great restaurants and great kids club!

I'd try Hawaii if I were you...

Hotel Paradisus Varadero
Probably the most luxurious all-inclusive hotel in Varadero. Enjoy spectacular buffets, entertaining staff and a wide range of water sports.
One scuba-diving session included in price!!!

There are hundreds in Cuba.. Brisas del Caribe, Varadero would be a good destination, great beach, the town is right there and the resort is loadedwith stuff for everyone. I'l put up some links. Check the tripadvisor link and you will find reviews by people like myself who have been there.

Hotel Tryp Cayo Coco is an excellent all-inclusive resort for the family. The beach is right there at your feet and there are so many things to do for adults and children alike. The Entertainment Team will get everyone involved if you want to do activities. Lots of beach/water games and sports and by the pool as well. The children are always never bored and feel very comfortable with the staff. They love seeing the children having fun and cater to them a lot while catering to the adults...they're never ignored.
And you can trust them with your children...it's very safe there...and it's very easy to relax there as well.
See the link below. It's an excellent place and you can't get lost there. It's an open concept resort and the layout of the buildings is open and airy, no twists and turns and closed areas.
You'll never regret going to this resort. The food is excellent and a lot of variety. You'll also love the grill (La Picúa)...great food for lunch time....the kids will never have a problem.
Take advantage of the day trips as well...you'll also be able to experience the 'real' Cuba doing this and your children will really enjoy that.
Have an amazing time in Cuba!

Looking for a family resort with cabins on a lake in Wisconsin or Michigan?

We'd like to do a family reunion sort of vacation this summer, with all of our sisters & brothers bringing their children (and adult children & their children) to a lake somewhere about two or three hours from Chicago - preferably north to Wisconsin or Michigan.

We'd like it to be rustic, away from big city excitement (but close to a small town w/groceries & a restaurant).

The resort should be on a lake with at least 10 cabins available so that each family can have their own place.

Any suggestions?

I dont know about north, but in utica illinois, a little over an hour south west of Chicago there is a place called Grand Bear Lodge. It does not have a lake, but it it right off of a river, and right by Starved Rock, which is amazing. There are also several other creeks, rivers, and canyons close by. Starved rock is beautiful and great for the family. It is a buch of trails, cliffs, and canyons, and they also have a lodge, and a bunch of cabins. I only suggest to stay in the cabins at grand bear by starved rock (instead of staved rock), because they have an indoor water park, and other fun activities.

I am not sure what exactly you are looking for, but starved rock, and grand bear both have quite a bit to offer, if you want to get away from the city. Utica is a small town prolly not even 1000 pop. with a bunch of antique shops, and a couple bars and restraunts, it is very cute. Close by to the west is Peru which has a small mall and restraunts like applebees, etc. or the the east is Ottawa with a Cracker Barrel etc. There a million things to do in this area (I&M canal for bike riding, or walking, starved rock or buffalo rock for hiking and picnics, the Illinois river and the Fox river meet in Ottawa, and the Vermillion River runs by Utica, and so does the Illinois.)

You should look this up if your interested, its right off of I80 W. Sorry I dont know anything north. hope this helps.

Good luck and God bless.

You should check southwest Michigan, towns like Sister Lakes (Dowagiac) and Coloma have lots of little resorts scattered all about.

Here is a website with all sorts of info, the area is about 2 hours from Chicago:
http://www.swmichigan.org/
Click on the resorts link, I think that would be what you are looking for!

Can anyone suggest an all-inclusive family resort in Jamaica?

Looking to vacation in Jamaica in mid 2009 for a 50 year anniversary celebration. My parents are taking the whole family (10 people) and want to stay at a resort where all we have to do is relax. I've quickly read about Sandals and Beaches but wanted to know if anyone has first hand experience they would like to share?

Sunset Beach Resort in MOntego Bay
Riu Ocho Rios
Starfish in Trelawny
Holiday Inn Sunspree in Montego Bay

try sandals, beaches or club med resorts.

I've stayed at both Riu Negril and Riu Ocho Rios, and would highly recommend them both.

Pebbles Resort, Runaway Bay, between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios:

http://www.fdrholidays.com/pebbles/index.php

Hope this was helpful ;-)

When my wife and I wanted to take out daughter with us to Sandals, we were told that Sandals is a couples only resort. No children and no same sex couples

I've been to Sandals Whitehouse 2x in past year, it's the newest one in Jamaica. I love it and will return again and again. The first time my daughter got married and her brother and grooms brother got a room together (both adults), and my travel agent said they don't ask, people do it all the time, especially at weddings when people who can come are limited.
I went back 9 months later and got married myself, and my husbands 2 adult children got a room. But definitely no children, if there are children involved I would recommend Beaches in Negril, a family oriented place owned by Sandals. It looks wonderful, we want to take my grandkids there in a few years.
You would have a ball here at Sandals, food is wonderful, all water activities included, great martini bar, beautiful beaches and wonderful staff and service, oh you are making me want to go soon! They also will help with renewing the vows if that's what they want to do, very romantic setting. Enjoy!

Try Franklyn D resort or fdr as we call it. They are really good. You get a nanny for your children included in the price. So if you wanted you could have some romance. There are two locations one near ocho rios and one in trelawny.
the address is www.fdrholidays.com

Beaches Negril gets good reviews on TripAdvisor.

I adore Negril, so I highly suggest staying in that area for sure. The beaches and sunsets are to die for!

Sandals Negril and Beaches Negril are next door to each other. They share privileges. Those who would like to enjoy adults-only could go to Sandals and those with kids could stay at Beaches. It's only a short walk but perhaps it might be too much for "Mom & Dad". Sandals wouldn't want kids running around so Sandals would have to visit Beaches not vice-versa. (does that make sense?) It's a wonderful place, wherever you go, it's paradise. Check out trip adviser.com it has lots of info. Have a great time planning your trip!

starfish in Trelawny, RIU, Sandals mobay or Ocho Rios, or Pebbles resort if you have kids the nanny at pebbles will take care of them and you can have all the fun without having to be fretting over them. the nannies are great, some even get hired by tourists as their personal nanny because when it was time to go the kids were crying and didn't want to leave their nanny.

west point village

excellent

By far the coolest is Swept Away in Negril. The most luxurious is The Grand Lido.

What is a good family resort in the San Diego area?

We're looking for a nice resort with family activities.

Legoland! It's just north of town. We went there with our three kids, who were 7, 12 and 15 at the time, and there was something for EVERYONE to do.

Everything is Lego themed, no surprises there, but there are many rides and they're adapted to all different ages. If you were to think of the park as a clock face, the gate is at 6:00. Moving clockwise, the rides at 7 and 8 o'clock are all for very young kids -- there's a cute little storybook-land boat ride where all the fairy tale figures are depicted in life-size Lego sculptures. But they all have a twist, some little humorous detail that will have the adults chuckling even as the littlest ones are enjoying Red Riding Hood or the Three Little Pigs as full-size Lego figures.

The rides closer to 12 o'clock on our imaginary clock face were faster and had more action; we all liked one where you spin around on water and get splashed (very popular in August). And by the time you get to 3 or 4 PM, there were some very fast roller-coasters that the oldest kids though were super.

In the middle of the park there's a fantastic Lego display -- scenes from famous cities throughout North America reconstructed out of Lego, so you can walk past miniature San Francisco cable cars (scaled for the Lego minifigs), a New Orleans jazz funeral, a piece of the Manhattan skyline, the Capitol dome in Washington, D.C., and more. And even better, you can ride a boat around an international version of the same thing -- the Sydney Opera House, the Taj Mahal, the Eifel Tower, and some US scenes like Mt. Rushmore (with two little Lego guys on a scaffold cleaning George Washington's ear... with a giant Lego Q-tip.)

It's cute, it's charming, and it's clean and well-organized. Everything's done with good humor and creativity (no surprise if your kids have any Lego toys), and the food is even good. We loved it, all of us.

And of course, you can't miss the San Diego Zoo -- huge, diverse, and beautiful. Plus there's Balboa Park, with art museums and historical exhibits. There's the Old Globe Theater, a reproduction of Shakespeare's original theater with a variety of plays. And there's Sea World, with shows, exhibits and beautiful landscaping.

And... I just realized you might have meant a resort where you can stay, be treated to spa-type activities and more. There's the La Costa Spa and Resort just north of San Diego, which is famous and fairly exclusive; I have friends who live in the residential area adjacent to the spa, and I've attended some functions with them in La Costa. I'm not much of a resort-goer myself, but it's first-rate. There's also a resort in Del Mar, the community about ten minutes north of San Diego; I stayed at the main resort in Del Mar (Rancho Del Mar? It's been a while...) some ten years ago for a conference/convention and it was really quite stunning -- great catering, tremendous location (right down at the water's edge near the racetrack), and wonderful accommodations.

If you're looking to spend your money selectively on the trip, consider staying at any of the usual hotel/motel accommodations and visiting the attractions and parks. That worked great for us. We just ended up staying at a clean but modest spot in "Motel Circle," which is a centrally located stretch of access road adjacent to one of the main highways that reach into San Diego, and then visited the tourist attractions as we had time. Virtually all the motels have pools, and there are a LOT of attractions in San Diego with family activities.

And... depending on what your kids like, you should know that from anywhere in Motel Circle, you're only about a two-hour drive from Disneyland. Wear comfortable shoes, and be prepared to hear yourself ask, "Now, how much is that in American money?" every time you're asked to pay for something. Whether you choose to conceal this or to offer it for their edification is up to you. :-)

Adding a correction to Scott's answer, the area where he stayed at is Hotel Circle, which runs right along the 8 freeway. In that area there are two malls (Fashion Valley Mall and Mission Valley Mall), and just 5 to 10 minutes away is Sea World (by going west on the 8, going on I-5 North, and exiting on Sea World Drive). Also nearby Hotel Circle is the San Diego (which you can get to by taking the 8 freeway to the 163 or I-5 south).

Check out Paradise Point. Used to be Vacation Village in the old days. My family has enjoyed this place a few times when our kids were younger. We live in San Diego and this was a real get away.

Mission Bay might be a good choice for a hotel because there are lots of water sports equipment and bicycle rentals in the area that you might be interested in. It's lots of fun to have a bonfire on the beach....there are fire pits provided for this on most beaches.

Coronado can also be a fun place for families....there are rental companies, gondola rides, and more.

The best one is Hotel del Coronado, check it out at hoteldel.com. Not cheap, but beautiful and right on the beach w/ 2 pools and lots for kids to do.

I used to work at La Costa Resort and they always had the kids doing odd things, but fun. For example, my friend who worked in the Spa w/ me was asked to dress in a Seal outfit and play with the kids. It was so wierd, just funny really. A client of mine actually said her kids were loving the Seal character. Anyway check there website.

I just toured about 21 hotels on a trip to San Diego to look for meeting space. The places that I think would be best for a family are the Hilton San Diego Resort (it's very close to Sea World on MIssion Bay), Paradise Point (on another part of Mission Bay). There is another place that I didn't see. It's called Catamaran. It's right in Pacific Beach and it was close to a lot of fun activities. Have a fun trip.

Where is the best all-inclusive Family resort to stay in Cozumel?

my husband and I have stayed at the el cozumelino a few years back and it was very nice ...but i would like to stay somewhere else...this time we are taking my 10 yr old daughter. We need a family place and kids activities...and fun stuff for the adults. What do you suggest for outsise the resort for us to go see or do?

Our group has set up and went to Cancun the first week of Jan. We let them handle everything Tour/Charter/Rooms with http://www.cancuncatamarans.com

These guys handle everything watersports,Car Rental, Room related as well as Private Charters. Call them. You will be impressed by Rob and Al 1-888-862-3806 Were are going back in 4 weeks again. They will handle everything for our family next trip.

For families my first suggestion would have been El Coz. I am assuming you want to move up? If so try the Cozumel Palace. All tours (glass bottom boat, Chankanaab, Tulum/Xpu-Ha, Coba) are included in the AI price. Many kids activities also. Depending on when you plan to go you can also swim with the dolphins for free (I think this starts later this year)

same as above!

What is the best family resort in myrtle beach?

We are planning on taking our 2 kids ages 4 & 7 to Myrtle beach and was wondering what was the best resort for families? We would like to have a condo. I'm not very familier with Myrtle Beach so I need some help!!!!

I really like to stay at the Dayton House Resort. They don't don't have condos but they do have rooms that have like 2 queen beds and a murphy bed in them. It is a great family friendly resort. It has 3 pools, a lazy river, 3 hot tubs, and it is right on the ocean. Check out the website and you can let me know if I can help some more. http://www.daytonhouse.com/
