How much does hair color correction cost? I know it depends on the person and salon, but any experience?

I dyed my light blonde hair with a semi permanent dye to a light ugly brown. I made an appt to have it fixed, to a chocolate brown like I had intended. Well, it turned out black! I do not want to go back to the salon, the guy was bonkers. I am going for a consult today to have correction done, and I just want it to look natural, don't care how or what they do, brown is fine, black is not. Any price ranges? I want to know if this is going to be more than 200 bucks. Also, I have managed to have it fade a bit using dishsoap, head and sholders, olive oil, Tide and hairspray. Should I just carry on with that instead? It is still way too dark and my scalp feels kinda warm and tingly....

I had my hair dyed about 5 days ago.
I didn't make it black, so no I didn't jack my hair up. I waked in their with dirty blonde hair.

But I really do not trust the salon that dyed my hair. Should I just have them put highlights in it? Or would it come out badly with the current hair color I have? (Very dark brown, like Penelope Cruz when her hair is dark)

if the salon jacked up your color THEY should fix it FREE.

if you jacked up your own color (i charge) $200 and hour plus the service ($75 for the color; $50 for a T hilite; $75 for a partial foil; $150 for a full foil ) plus a haircut ($20 with a chemical service; $45 without).
and i can almost guarantee you'll never color you hair yourself again.

I would go back to the salon and have someone else fix your hair, if it did not turn out the way you wanted it then it is the salons fault, not yours......it costs way to much to pay for their mistake, if you don't want to go back and ask them to fix it, I would call around to a few salons and she if they will give you any advice and how to fix it yourself....that always works for me...GOOD LUCK

Don't call up a salon and say you want a color correction. There is no reason to double-bill you or punish you for having been to another salon.

Just say you want it lightened up. They'll probably be able to throw in highlights to get you an overall lightened look. It may cost around $75 to $100 depending on the salon.

Be sure to deep condition your hair, try something like Aveda Damage Remedy. Some say Joico products are good to, so just see what you like and best of luck.

i want my hair color back to normal- is it smart to schedule a color correction?

my hair is reddish brown.
my natural hair color is dirty blonde.
my hair is pretty fried.
i bought neutrogena's triple moisture deep conditioning treatment to hopefully get some health back.

i also scheduled an appointment for color correction.
good idea?

It's a good idea if you found someone who actually knows what they are doing and if you are willing to spend some money. Color corrections are difficult to do because there are a ton of factors involved so they cost more than a regular color service. If i were to do it I would charge double or triple a normal color fee depending on how much correcting i need to do. But the most important factor is did you find a stylist who knows what they are doing. If you go in and the stylist doesn't do a consultation then get the heck out of there. You need to sit and talk to them for however long it takes to make sure they know what you want. You need to take pictures of what you want so they have a better idea. Also i would suggest the aquage product line instead of neutrogena if you can find it. If they don't carry aquage try biolage or a line called rusk or joico those are great lines for deep conditioning and repair. Another thing be prepared for the stylist to tell you it's a bad idea to correct right away. I don't know how damaged your hair is but a correction is more damage and if your hair has major damage a good stylist will tell you to wait and do some major conditioning treatments first.

Yes, it is a good idea to get professional help with your hair. You wont get you hair back to natural till you get all the color cut out, you can get it colored close to your natural and be advised to a good shampoo and conditioner to use.

CAN SOME ONE HELP ME FIND A FREE BOOK ON HAIR COLOR CORRECTION?

Can some one help me find a free book on hair color correction

Go to the library. You should be able to find tips coloring. You can also go to a technical college and ask someone who is training to be a hair stylist. Have a great day.

HAIR COLOR CORRECTION...hair help from colorists please???

I just moved to a new town and have had 4 very terrible hair coloring experiences. I was a champagne blonde and had a matching base color (have to use base to completely cover grays).

1. Hair colorist 1. Use base 9N which made roots brown/red and 20 vol. bleach. Blonde looked great. Roots HORRIBLE and grays not totally covered

2. Hair colorist 1 part 2. I complained about my roots so she uses 8N and hair still reddish.

3. Hair Colorist 2. Slaps on 20 vol bleach for touchups and leaves roots alone. Hair looks brittle and hay colored with reddish brown roots. UGLY.

4. Hair colorist 3. Today go in for hair correction. Bring picture of Carrie Underwood and ask for Beige/Champagne blonde hair with NO redness or yellow looks or red. Hair turns light brown with green ash tint w/ some reds. I am not sure what she used but it looks nothing like the pic. I paid $200 and called back demanding she fix.

What the &*&($*@&@ can I do??? NO one can seem to get a clue in this town.
My hair is white gray around my hairline and sides. Not as much on the back. My natural hair is dirty blonde i.e. "dishwater"

Wella, Logics, Dikson and I think Loreal Professional are the products.

I'm a stylist of 14 years and am willing to help you with a solution. I need to know your natural base and how much outgrowth you had. Also what percentage of gray are you? What brand of colors have they tried? I was wondering if you can send some pics?

Do I need hair color correction? If so, how much does it cost?

I just got my hair colored by a stylist who obviously had trouble understanding what I wanted when I walked into the salon and asked for a "warm chocolate brown" color. My hair is naturally an ashy medium brown. When she first dyed it, it turned out strawberry blond. When I told her that the color was not what I wanted and she put toner in it to get rid of the red, it turned a dark auburn. It is now a very very dark brown with a weird red tinge to it and it looks almost purple in some lights. I told her that I wanted her to fix it and she got an attitude with me, so I walked out. I called a hair stylist that I've known for awhile and whom I trust, but I don't know if I need color correction, if she needs to strip it, or if she can just use highlights or do another single process on top of what I have now. I want to go lighter. I want a chocolate brown color, but I don't want to have to spend $200 like some people have said I will. Any suggestions, info, or advice?

I would go to the hair stylist that you've known for awhile, and maybe she'll be able to figure out what needs to be done. Good luck :(

ehh you can get a home kit and do it yourself or
have her bleach your hair and start over..

i would call the stylest that you trust and ask them what they think. this happened with me last week. i went to get blonde and red put in my hair and it ended up blonde and pink. so i went back and just dyed it back brown. my hair is really dry now though, since all the chemicals. just call and ask! im sure he/she can tell you on the phone, or have you come in to see what they think about it.

hair color correction?

I went to a salon and paid 150 bucks to lighten my hair. I requested a pale blonde natural looking color and they left me with a fake bleached out color. I went back twice and told them to make it look normal but they made it look so bleached out ugly orange yellow bleach look. What can i put on my hair to make it toned out and natural looking? I am never going back to a salon again.

choose another salon or choose a color in a good brand, and dye there

well all i can do is give u advice and see if u cant go to another hairsalon but i know someone that is good where do u live

Hair catastrophe. Removing semi-permanent hair color? Salon color correction?

I had natural medium brown hair with golden highlights from the sun. my hair was 100% dye-free before I bought a box of Clairol "SEMI-PERMANENT" dye in midnight black. Semi-permanent is complete false adversitement! This junk will not wash off! I seriously just want the black tint to fade... I don't mind dark hair but I don't want this hideous black tint! I look like Elvira! I'm going to attempt washing my hair with Prell since a hair specialist suggested that. If that doesn't work can someone please let me know what a salon will do to remove this junk? I plan on booking an appointment for tomorrow at a high end salon for a color consultation and correction. What are the options at the salon? I don't want my hair fried with bleach, and I don't want to have to deal with hair dye and roots. Please tell me there's something that will lift this dye out. Any advice from those who have been in this situation or actual hair specialists would be appreciated.
I went for midnight black because I thought this junk would fade fast and I only left it on my hair for 5 minutes so I didn't think it would produce such a dramatic result.

well, if its semipermanent it'll take about 28ish shampoos to come out. you can try using a clarifying shampoo, that might help. also, you can buy a hot oil treatmeant, such as the VO5 one that's in a little tube (i think it's about 2ish dollars), that should help get the color out as well. the salon would probably just strip your hair of the color, it'll get your hair back to its natural color, but it is a somewhat drying process for your hair, other than that...good luck!

Why would u dye ur hair MIDNIGHT BLACK if u didnt want super black hair? Anyway, the semi permanent means its wash off after, like, 28 shampoos. U should hav at first tried the stuff that washes out in only 12 shampoos. But yeah u could just try washing ur hair over and over but it might not work...

hi

Hair color correction help?

I'm pretty sure this was one of my worst ideas, but I decided to bleach my hair, followed by coloring it green.

need-less to say, it looks horrible.
I need advice on correcting the color.
Im not sure if I should use a whole hair color thing, or something else?

There aren't any hair places open and I have to go to school tomorrow.

please help):

depending on your natural color,...

bleach is always a bad idea, unless, bleached is the color you want. if you added color over it, you've really messed up your head. and i think it is time to call in the professionals.

if you were coloring it green, then for some reason i don't think you care what the others at school think. so wear it to school and get it fixed after.

if you go adding another color, you could really mess it up, but if you do decide to try it, start with a small section first.

Should this hair color correction be done for free?

I went into a Regis salon for the first time today for a weave and a trim. My hair is mostly gray, so the stylist did blond highlights with darker lowlights to the top and framing my face. Totally happy with the color and cut, EXCEPT for one spot, over my left ear.

When I left the salon, my hair was styled in such a way that I didn't notice any problems. But after I got to the car I lifted up my growing-out bangs to see what it would look like with my bangs clipped back, the way I often wear it. And there above my ear is this HUGE chunk of really blond highlight with a horrible-looking diagonal stripe of the darker color cutting across it. It looks awful and it's totally visible with my bangs clipped back!

Is this something I should be able to get corrected free of charge? I'd like to go back in tomorrow and politely insist that it be fixed, but I don't know what the norm is.

This salon and stylist are new for me, and I paid $145 for the color and cut. I don't want to seem like a b***h, but on the other hand this looks pretty bad! I liked the job except for this section; on the other hand there's no way she wouldn't have noticed this, and she didn't point it out and offer to correct it, even though she didn't have any clients waiting.

What do you think?

I have worked in a hair salon for awhile and seen plenty of "bitchy customers" and the ones who come in for a color corrections are NOT one of them!

It is good that you noticed, so go back in (or call), tell them what you had done and show them what you want fixed and ask them what the fee for a "quick color fix" would be. They should say it is free, all good hair salons want to keep their customers, and a small touch-up like that is nothing.

Definitely not a b*tchy thing to do!
