Foaming Hair Dye Actually Works! PW-Philadelphia Weekly (blog)

Foaming Hair Dye Actually Works!

Like many other people, I get a little help when it comes to my hair color. Okay, so I get a lot of help with my hair and eyebrow color.  Either way, there’s always that awkward time period between salon visits, and being a broke college student, I can’t afford to pay a visit to my wonderful stylist every month.  I have always used the standard gel hair dye for a quick root touch-up, but, lately, I’ve been seeing foam hair dyes enter the home-color market.

Foam hair dyes, like John Frieda’s Precision Foam Colour , promise quality hair color without having to deal with the dye running, dripping or oozing, like gel dyes.  After carefully reading the instructions, I mixed the dye and coated my hair.

The foam acted like a mousse, and kept my fine, pin straight hair the way I positioned it.  I slicked it back and slathered the dye all over my horrible ashy blond roots. Surprisingly, the dye was incredibly easy to use.

-at the moment medium/light brown hair color
-light/tanish skin

okay, i want to dye me hair differant color (like crazy colors -blue pink red ect...) and i want to know what would look ok for me to do. i dont want to dye all me hair thouhgh just like underneath and some streaks

thanks

i think you should have black on top and shocking pink on your bottom layers

I say you should go all out and dye your whole head like eitehr
dark brown or black and then put some red in the front within the
bangs. it'lll look cute(:

Try lavender and black hair, black hair will make your face look pale though.

whatever hair color u were born with
just as some high lights or low lights.
u natural hair color will best fit ur complexion. it'll make you look great and stunning.
u may be afraid of looking boring, but trust me. the highlights will be nice

brown but you can add all different colors put suttle high lights through out your hair small strainds

with brown hair hot pink or red would look good the streaks should be darker colors

How often can I color my hair, and what do I do about my roots in the meantime?

I color my hair a dark auburn-red color that is quite attractive when the color is fresh and for a couple of weeks thereafter. When my brown and gray roots start becoming noticeable, however, it doesn't look quite as hot. Moreover, because red hair color tends to fade more noticeably than other hair colors, I almost always have to freshen up my overall color (by spreading the dye around to the ends for the last 10 minutes) when I touch-up my roots.

I wish I could color every 3-4 weeks, but I'm afraid to color my hair more often than every 5-6 weeks. Is coloring hair more frequently than that damaging? How often can you safely color your hair?

What can you do about roots in the meantime? Can you rotate permanent with non-permanent dye? Are there any good products you can use to temporarily color roots? (I apply a tinted toner called "Stay Red" to visible roots after washing my hair, but it's hard to apply. I wish they had a mascara-type applicator.)

Thanks for the tips!

your colorist will tell you how often you should color safely. there is something called hair mascara that will fill in your roots. red dye molecules are HUGE compared to our hairs, thats why it comes out so easy. use shampoo specifically for red hair.

You can just touch up your roots every 2-3 weeks, but to completely color it I would say between 6-8 weeks.

well you should be okay to just do your roots every 4 weeks i do just dont color the rest of your hair because it could dry it out. well you do your roots just get it on the roots growth. you shouldnt have to do the rest of your hair at all i dont. pluse use color care shampoo. i like loreal preferance because it has a conditioner so you can use it. helps your hear last longer color.

What hair color dye damages your hair the less?

I want to color my hair but i need a hair dye that damages my hair very little or nothing at all cuz my hair tends to fall a lot and for that matter i have some frizzy hairs. My hair is black and thick and i want to color it chocolate brown. Any suggestions on a really good hair dye and where I can get it?

I assume you don't want to go to a salon...so, any one that does not have ammonia in it and non-permanent will be perfectly good. This is offered by many makers - Loreal , Clairol....to name a few. You just put it on..wait about 25 minutes...wash it out and voila...the new you! Have fun but note you will have to redo it about every 6-8 weeks.

a semi-permanent one

The shades that are closest to your natural color- if you have to lighten your hair, it requires double process which is more damaging.

I use Clairol Naturals...in the brown box. It is the one that looks brown like a paper sack. It is the only one I have found that is mild, with no peroxide, and leaves my hair wonderfully silky. You can get it at almost any store...Wal Mart, Target, K Mart...It runs about $8 a box, but hey, aren't you worth it?!?!?

well my friends mom works for CHI and there hair products do not damage your hair, if it did, i would have no hair beacuase i dye my hair about every week.
you can look for CHI on the internet

What hair color is best for my skin tone?

I am pretty pale naturally and have a redness maybe a blueish pink in my skin tone a little bit. I have blue eyes.

I love extreme blonde, red, and black. I like funky colors and love dying my hair.

I am getting my hair done this saturday and would love some hair color suggestions and maybe some funky hair color styles.

Thanks so much.

just get straight platnm. Blonde, almost white on the bottom, and cherry black on the rest, and a bit more blonde peaking out in the area of your bangs, and get it curly with the black wavy, and the blonde really straight. it will look tight!!!!

damn honey you pretty hot, i'd say blonde.

Black would suit

A nice bright blonde, but not majorly bright it just looks trashy x

Go with pink and black, your hot anyways. It wouldnt matter if it was neon green you would still be hot.

Redish brown would look awesome on you.

You look good...

blonde and burgundy

I would say either a really deep brownish black (the photo on the left)

What home hair color kit has the best brand, preferably for African American hair?

I want to dye my hair a honey blonde color and I'm wondering what brand of a home hair coloring kit is the best to use that will give the best results? I dyed a small piece of my hair with Soft Sheen Carson hair coloring kit and it didnt come out as light as it looks on the box. Are they all like that? Thanks. Oh by the way, my hair is like a medium to dark brown color and i have no previous color or bleaching in my hair.

Dark and Lovely semi Permanents work really great. My hair is naturally a reddish to brown tint but i died it jet black for a complete new look. And I love it

idk if they make hair lighteners specificly for af/am but i used clairol born blond maxi to take my dark brown hair blond. it only took an hour and the color came out great. its designed for dark hair. good luck

Let a professional color your hair most home kits have ingredients that are extremely harmful to African American hair even those supposedly made for African American hair. If you have a relaxer you need to make sure to continually deep condition your hair. And apply hair color no sooner than 2 weeks after relaxing the hair.

What hair color and style would fit best?

My sister is planning on getting her hair done, she wants a new hair color and style. Her natural hair color is medium brown, she has green eyes, fair skin and an oval face shape. She wants to dye her hair a light brown, would that look good? And what hairstyle would best fit as well? Sorry, I don't have a picture! Thanks!

i think light brown would be perfect and would draw attention to her eyes. or maybe just adding highlights to the hair she already has.

What hair color looks best with blue-green eyes with some brown around the pupils?

Currently, my hair is a light blonde. My natural hair color is a dark blonde/light brown. I would like to go for a darker hair color but not sure. I am very tan and no freckles. What color would you recommend?

I would go with a medium reddy brown, it will make your face warmer and compliment your eyes

How to remove color to get back to natural hair color?

My hair is naturally drab gray. I just started coloring my hair at home over the last 9 months (after having it professionally done for the last 20 years). I want the end result of my hair color to be golden brown. I do not touch up roots in between hair coloring. I do an overall color. Each time I colored my hair, I chose a color that wasn't quite light enough. I'm ready for another coloring. My roots are drab gray, the rest of my hair looks like one solid light brown color. Since I have been using different shades of golden brown each time I color, should I use a hair color remover first to get back to my natural color and then do an overall color of a very light golden brown/blonde? Or just color my hair with the very light golden brown. I do not have different colors in my hair now, but mentally I feel like I do because of the 4 different times I've colored with a different color. Help!!!

yes..If youre going from darker to lighter with about 4 different colors youll definately want to remove the color. They sell a product...its a powder and you mix it with a 20 volume liquid..you can buy the powder and possibly 20 vol at Walmart...The particular powder Im thinking of is called Un-color, but the other brands work just as well...its in a packet usually on the bottom shelf. Be careful using a lot of anything on the hair or it will become "mushy" and break off, especially if heat is applied. Good luck! *I have been a professional hairdresser for 16 years*

What brand of professional hair color is best for curly dark hair?

I have thin, curly locks, with lots of body, similar to Shakira’s curls. Everytime I color my hair professionally it doesn’t last, even though I use color care products. Many have told me the best color brand is Wella. Currently my hair is a medium blond auburn, and wish to color it a chocolate brown. Any suggestions on which brand I should ask for at the hair dresser?

Grazie Mille!

Color Clash – Hair Color and Cosmetics

Color Clash - Hair Color and Cosmetics

Have you ever returned property from the salon soon after you changed your hair color and believed, “This is entirely incorrect. This color does not function for me!”? Probabilities are that your new hair color is gorgeous but you might be nonetheless wearing exactly the same make-up! As odd as it sounds, the shades of cosmetics you wear can make or break a brand new hair color. In case you are altering your hair color do not forget to modify your make-up too!

Why Altering Makeup with Hair Color is so Essential

Whenever you adjust your hair color your entire look modifications. The new shade can make your skin and eyes appear a lot more pale or a lot more intense. Your new locks can bring out hidden undertones inside your skin and new dimensions for your eyes. New hair color may also make you appear younger and much more confident, but in the event you continue to wear exactly the same make-up then it is possible to also appear just a little odd. This clash of colors comes down to color theory. The lipstick that may well have looked fabulous on you as a blond now can appear decidedly odd together with your new red locks. Why? Since the new hair color and cosmetic undertones clash.

The color of our hair truly does influence our overall look and so whenever you modify it, it truly is vital to modify every thing else too from the clothes you wear for your make-up. This lets you give a far better balance to the face and it also finishes off the overall new appear. The incorrect cosmetic colors can make your appear go from pale to dull to downright clownish.
