Does anyone have any experience with a Spa/Resort in Bavaria Germany that you would recommend?
I am thinking about going at the end of October beginning of November and am looking for a resort in which I can get health and beauty treatments ,as well as, other physical activities such as hiking and swimming. I would also like to use it as a base for day touring such as Neuschwanstein Castle etc. I won't have a car unless I rent one. Is it necessary? Would love some sort of hotel/spa package. Of course accommadations and food must be good. Entertainment would be a plus. Not asking for much am I? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your thoughts?
InterContinental Berchtesgaden seems to have it all, you can check this link and watch the photo tour of the place. It looks wonderful amidst the Bavarian Alps. It's very well connected so probably you won't need to rent a car. This is my favourite part of Germany; not only because it's scenic, but because of the first class, yet calm and unobtrusive service.

Health Club, Gym, Spa Holidays?
Does anyone know of a Spa or Health resort on UK that I could go to for a week or two? I want therm to force me to exercise & eat the right foods.I know where I am going wrong but have no motivation to do anything about it.
champneys resorts are great.
In what ways has resort design influenced the design and management of health care environments today, such a?
In what ways has resort design (like Disney World, fine resort hotels, spas) influenced the design and management of health care environments today, such as continuing care retirement communities, assisted living facilities, wellness facilities, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, etc.?
They know how to make a plant efficient.
where can I go on vacation and get spa services?
Looking for a health spa kind of vacation - want to lose a bit of weight, do some hiking , get some relaxation and get away from it all. I guess Im looking fo a kind of resort but focussed on health, not food and alcohol.
A "Destination Spa" is what you are looking for, not a Resort Spa. Destination Spas are focused on health and life enhancement, feature great hiking as well as several other activities and offer healthy spa cuisine only, no distilled beverages (wine OK at meals).
Pricing is between $1,200 and 8,000 for a 7 day stay and is inclusive of meals, accommodations, activities and some spa services. The spa treatment services depends on the price. Less expensive = few to none, more expensive = more inclusive.
There are only about 30 Destination Spas in North America as compared to the thousands of Resort Spas which are more vacation and pampering oriented. The Southwest and Northeast offer several options with a few in the Midwest and South.
Search for Destination Spa Vacations.
I've been to all of them and can answer any questions for you.
I am looking for a great destination spa for wieght loss in hawaii.?
I only seem to find resort spas, but not an all inclusive package geared toward jump starting a health program. Help?
Not knowing what specific health program you are after, I offer the following if it's of interest to you and the type of package you are after. On the island of Kaua'i, there is a boot camp focusing on fitness, weight loss, and overall well being. Guests go through a five-night program under the guidance of field guides, surf instructors, fitness trainers and workout specialists. Activities include hiking, surfing, weight training and yoga. The program is augmented by a beautiful villa, a private chef, a personal trainer and massages. Here's the tough part: rates start at $3,100 per person double occupancy, including all training sessions, activities, accomodations, chef and transportation.
Good luck and happy hunting.

Are there any good vegetarian diet and fitness residential programs out there?
It can be like a fitness resort or center, a health spa or a retreat/holistic health center.
I go to curves. It is pretty cool. Try that or Yoga tapes. I also walk every morning so I don't get really lazy during the day and it is a good start for the day.
Because with strict, traditional Yoga, one of the disciplines of that lifestyle *is* the adoption of a vegetarian diet that eventually pares itself down to a vegan if not a *fruitarian* level. It can be a harsh lifestyle, but generally speaking Yoga and vegetarianism go hand in hand when it comes to "yoga as lifestyle" retreats.
Having said that....if you cannot find anything fruitful and wish to do something on your own....I'd recommend going easy on the diet, sticking to a standard lacto-ovo or just plain lacto-vegetarian diet (that is, most veggies plus dairy, maybe eggs). This way you aren't going to go into shock from any sudden lack of vitamins or minerals....
and then emphasize the exercise as moving meditation. Heated Yoga of some sort, be it more like Bikram (heated room) or Ashtanga (cardiovascular/flow yoga), plus weighted cardio (as in running or climbing with backpacks, weighted vests or belts on, to increase the muscle benefits of *weight bearing* cardio).
And of course, then have room for gentler, more medititative and esoteric stuff, the Kundalini yoga or the easy, Hatha or Yoganetics stuff (that latter being a rolling set of floor exercises).
But you get the point I think. Don't emphasize the diet first in your search, look for activities commonly associated with the diet, like the Yoga, or if you get seriously into Aikido, look into their pursuit of the "macro-biotic" diet, which is kind of different from what most mainstream dietitians would consider macro-biotic in the sense of whole, minimally processed foods.
Hope this helps.
I'd like to take my family (wife and 12 yr old) to Costa Rica in March. Please recommend hotel/resort?
I'd prefer an all inclusive with a children's program, gym/health spa, and proximity to rain forest for day trips.
Punta Leona. Its on the Pacific coast, offers excursions inland, reasonably priced, and my wife and I as well as friends have all stayed their and had a great time. Advice on CR is get the heck out of San Jose post haste so that you can enjoy the country.
Then, go to http://Luxe.worldventures.com They search all the other main sites like Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity, hotel and airline sites and offer you the lowest price. You’ll save even more when you book it as a package like air and hotel together.
Your best bet is one of the larger resorts in the Guanacaste Province (Four Seasons, Paradisus Playa Conchal, etc.) or closer to San José the Marriott Los Sueños.
In the Nicoya Peninsula super cool Punta Islita Hotel may offer children's activities, but my sense is that it is a smaller property and the kid may not find enough playmates.
Cheers,
Carlos

Qualifications for Massage Therapist?
I am in year 12 right now and still deciding what i would like to do after school. I have been thinking about Massage therapy but I'm not sure about annual salary, qualifications, etc.
I do love the idea of working at a day spa or Health resort it sounds like a very rewarding and peaceful job. However i am not aware of potential negatives there may be, if anyone out there is working in this field I would appreciate any feedback you could give me, maybe names of some colleges that offer this sort of training ( i live in victoria, australia) and anything else i should be aware of.
thanks in advance.
Massage therapist, Beautician, sounds like a nice job, but the reality you will have to deal with some ignorant clients. For example is you wax someone and they erupt in a rash, you will get the blame, even if they 'forgot' to tell you they have sensitive skin? Likewise with massage, many people will feel ill after wards because you are removing waste, lymphatic drainage, so they may tell you exactly what they think of you and never return. The most important part, at 30 years of age, you will need to change career, as the younger females will be following in your footsteps. Good Luck
Massage Therapy.?
Hi i would like some advice as i am stuck!! Can someone please help me ...i am in a medical billing class right now and i have an opportunity to switch over to Massage Therapy i am looking at the future long term...and i need help in my decision. Which is better long term if you want to own your own business and or with the selection of jobs available right now i am just learning math and Medical Terminology in the billing class and computer work so i have not actually started to learn the actual billing procedure that is why now will be a good time to switch over i would like a career where i can set my own hours and also know that long term i will always have a job what scared me is that i looked in the paper and saw also that people hiring for Medical Billers in my area want 2 - 5 years experience and there are only one or two postings in the paper where as with Massage therapy you can work in a spa, health club, resort, chiroprator office etc would appreciate any input or advice.
alright i am going to be honest with you here... Genearlly people in billing offices aren't happy...
billing is the clean one, but the thing is that if you are massage therapist you can be your own boss, like my friend. Schedules are flexible (you get to choose your hours whenever you want, you are in demand!) and you get pay decently by the hour plus you get many tips especially from business persons.
When you get some experience you can work in medical center (my friend worked 1/2 year and now got a job with full benefits and bonus at a local hospital). You can basically work anywhere in the U.S. if you are a massage therapist,
plus you get to work with people.
Now hospitals have growing trends of hiring massage therapist, they will soon be in the ranks of physical therapist, occupational therapist, etc; but of course since it's less education compare to those, you get pay a bit lesser.
When I say SPA, what are the words/themes/ideas that you think of?
spa
day spa
fat farm
health club
health facility
holiday spot
hotel
hot spring
hammock
roman baths

well, here in my country it means Science Practical Assessment. The 16 year olds will have to carry out experiments & tests as part of their exams & in short, its called SPA. :)
