We want to buy a hot tub. Who is the best manufacturer for a mid range priced hot tub?
The hot tub purchase is not for any health issues, just pleasure. 2-3 people. Are there any specifics I should look for or any good websites?
Try Spa depot on line also Hot Springs has a good selection. We have Hot Springs but I got it for Health reason. I would just go to search for Spa or Hot tubs. Then you can compare Prices and features. Good Luck
What to look for when buying a hot-tub?
Want to buy a 4-5 person hot tub. Looked at various manufacturers - getting confused by so much choice! Looking to spend under £4000 for a decent quality tub, not too high running costs. Used hot tubs also an option - does anyone know of a decent 2nd hand dealer. Thanks for any help !!
Try large garden centres rather than mainstream dealers, maybe you could get a bargain.
Are you some sort of sexual deviant with an ulterior motive? Hot tubs are for one person only!
Hot tub recommendations?
OK - I'm going to the experts, because people's real life experience with products is the best guidance on them.
I'm looking for recommendations (companies and models) on a hot tub. The web is useless since most of the review sites are run by hot tub manufacturers, and guess what they recommend. Please help me with the following questions.
What hot tub manufactureres (and models) are:
Most reliable?
If there is a problem, have the best service/warrenty?
Most efficient to run?
And which company would purchase again from, or recommend a family member buy?
Who is the best hot tub dealer in central New Jersey?
Any web site that are worth researching?
Thanks for your help!
OK, #1 I REPAIR HOT TUBS IN TEXAS.I HAVE SEEN LOTS OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF TUBS AND CONFIGURATIONS.THE MORE JETS IT HAS THE MORE PROBLEMS YOU WILL HAVE WITH THE JETS .ESPECIALLY IF YOU USE AN ACIDIC SANITIZER. THERE ARE LESS ACIDIC SANITIZERS OUT THERE !
GET A SIMPLE HOT TUB NOT TO MANY JETS. IF YOU CAN GET A HOT TUB THAT HAS JUST A SMALL CIRCULATION PUMP FOR THE HEATING IT WILL SAVE SOME NOT MUCH ON ELECTRIC BILLS WHEN I SAY SMALL I MEAN TO SAY THAT IT WOULD BE AROUND A 16TH OF A HORSEPOWER AND WOULD HAVE A LOW FLOW HEATER. THE CIRCULATION PUMP WOULD ALSO RUN ALL OF THE TIME BUT AT A VERY LOW SPEED AND LOWER COST. AND ON SOME TUBS IT WOULD FILTER CONTINUOUSLY AT THE SAME TIME. AND WOULD ONLY HEAT WHEN YOU TURN UP THE THERMOSTAT AND CALL FOR HEAT ! ALL TUBS HAVE THERE FAULTS ONE BRAND DOES NOT STAND HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE THE REST.DO NOT GO TO A HOME SHOW TO BUY THESE PEOPLE MOST OF THE TIME ARE JUST WAITING TO UNLOAD SOMETHING CHEAP AND FAST ON SOMEONE WHO IS BUYING ON A WHIM ! I HAVE BEEN REPAIRING HOT TUBS FOR 9 YRS !
Where can I find a manual for my spa/hot tub?
We have a used hot tub with no owners manual and LOTS of unmarked buttons. I've searched the web for the manufacturer, which seems to be Seven Seas Spas, and for the model, which is The Aegean, and I'm coming up empty. I've called the National Spa & Pool Institute and all sorts of other stores/experts that I've found on the web.
This company doesn't seem to exist anymore. The only Seven Seas Spas that I can find is a store in PA that just sells hot tubs, they aren't the manufacturer I'm looking for.
Any suggestions?
ok They used Balboa Control systems. If you could send me a digital photo I can tell you what each button is and does. The manual is much harder but general info. can be told with just a photo of your tub.
Hmmm... looks like that is the place you found. but if they sell them, they have to know where they come from. What did they say.
Let me look at a couple of other things
Not having any luck either. Where did you find the name. I would think on the inside where the workings are there would be some kind of data plate with the name and model and such. Of course the dog could have ate it ....:)
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
I need help finding info for my hot tub.?
I have a white springs spa and I can't find out anything about this manufacturer on the internet.Any help would be appreciated.
1-800-923-7330 They make spa covers, and list a lot of White Springs models. I Bet they know how to get in touch.
...another hot tub question. Aside from what manuals and manufacturers say - who has some experience re: water
quality? I have lived at my new home for 2 months and the water in the hot tub was fresh at that time. I have kept up on checking it, adding the correct chemicals and rinsing filters. It's a minimum 200 gallon. It gets used practically every day. (After all, I'm only 1 county north of the 'birthplace' of the modern hot tub!) The idea of the chlorine gas and bromide is enough to deal with but I am wondering when to completely change the water.
Soaking in a funk of skin cells, sebum, chlorine and bromide PLUS our local water quality leaves something to be desired. I'm not complaining. Just an observation. Any practical first hand experience is more helpful than being directed elsewhere. Thanks. Shalom. XX
I change mine every three months.Draining it alows me to clean the inside walls.I would think that as long as the water is clear and tests ok it should be fine.
Is there a way to disable the heater in my hot tub (spa) so that the water remains closer to room temperature?
My hot tub has a thermostat control but even at the lowest ("coolest") setting it is just too hot for me. I'd like to be able to shut off the heating mechanism, or turn it far lower than the current low.
Plus, in the summer it is obviously too hot to use at all, and if there was a way to have it not-so-hot that might help. (I'm not talking about making the water cold or even cool, but it would be nice if it were much much cooler.)
I called the manufacturer and didn't get anywhere. I also searched the internet and couldn't find anything like this. If you have any suggestions, I would be grateful. Thank you.
To the responder who said: "Sounds like you want to sit in a bucket of water. There is a reason they call it a 'hot tub'."
Thanks a lot for your unhelpful, silly, idiotic answer. If you can call it an "answer". There is also a reason they call it a "spa" --- it's supposed to be a relaxing experience. If it's unbearably hot, it's anything but relaxing.
But go ahead and continue running off at the mouth; it's really enhancing the Yahoo Answers community.
Snowman is correct that you can simply disconnect the wires to the heater and then make sure they are taped until needing to be used again. Hopefully yours is a more modern Balboa or Gecko manufactured pack that have copper leads that will make it much easier. The suggestion that your thermostat might be bad is also a good thing to check, the older ones can be off by a few degrees easily. The bottom degrees for most are 78 degrees. I couldn't imagine wanting to get into that cold of water. What brand of tub is it (model/make/year)??????? Of course turn the power off when opening up your spa's cabinet to do the work.
are you getting it looked at by a qualified service teck-I'm wondering if you have a good thermostat controll there-do you use a in-tub temp gauge....just how hot is it staying...I hear 104 should be a safe 'upper-limit' -
If you could find a dimmer that would take handle the wattage of the heater, wire it as you would a lamp circuit. You may need to bypass the thermostat also.
Hot Tubs to Purchase?
I am looking for a 4 person hot tub to be placed on my patio. I want it to be energy efficient and reliable with good water movement. Any suggestions of a good manufacturer or model? Thanks.
If there is a local dealer in your area you will be better to deal there. If you buy from a Costco , you better be the handy-man type! Sometimes a few $$ saved is not worth the hassle later. Most spa dealers will not service the ones they don't sell.
As far as quality.....go with a known manufacturer and they are all comparable to operate as far as $$.
Recommend Beachcomber, Coast, Arctic, Cal-spa.
How are Royal Spa hot tubs?
I've been to the Royal Spa manufacturer in Indy and they have a Sultan model I'm interested in. Do you know anything about them that I should know about? I'm very interested in their model and would like some insight on the company. A thorough google search did not help much.

What I have found out is most spa's are alike just got different shapes and maybe the type of material that is used to make them.
If you get a good name brand like the one you are looking at you will enjoy it for a very very long time.
You just got to know that there is upkeep to the unit that you have to do and do often more the more you use it.
Look at how good is the material that they use and how thick is it (thicker the better).
What size pump do you need and what size and type heating unit do you need.
Like I say stay with a very good name brand and you will love.
Just know you can go cheap, But you will pay in the long run.
Ask the company about % of returns that they have will give you a good idea if they are good or not.
Which way should Hot & Cold Water Faucets Turn in a Bath Tub?
We had a scalding incident in our Apartment with a Hot Water Faucet in the tub with our 20 month infant. He usually likes to play with the water while its flowing into a small mug. Luckily we acted immediately and contained the effects. Background, The Hot water faucet was leaking, so we complained to the apartment mgmt and the maintenance guy replaced the valve/stem. Thats when the problem started.
The Hot Water Faucet now has to turn CLOCKWISE to OPEN and ANTICLOCKWISE to Close.
All these years the Hot water Faucet worked the other way until this maintenance guy touched it. Now on complaining to the Apt management, and their senior staff, the story they give is that the Hot Water Faucet is supposed to turn Clockwise to Open as designed by the manufacturer.
The cold water faucet works the opposite way or correct way as one would expect. ANTICLOCKWISE to Open and CLOCKWISE to Close.
Could somebody let us know which way is correct. The irritating this is the maintenance guy opened the whole stem and took it to the management to tell them that stem was "new" and working (sic because he had fixed 2 weeks back the leak) and management agreed to his observations and this guy comes and fixes it the same way it was and does not even turn on the Hot water to the apartment he had shut off. had to make another phone call to have him come and fix after some time.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the answers - Ro-bot
Corky R and poppajoe... I have been told the stem was installed incorrectly all these months and now is installed correctly. Anyway am getting used to it now. But still hate the apartment wisecrack front office ladies who did not explain all this but instead were stubborn and rude.
Actually, my sink and bath faucets both work like that. The cold turns clockwise to open and the hot is counterclockwise to open. So, if you are turning them on together, you turn both hands inward, and outward to turn them both off. Most two-faucet taps(as opposed to a mixer tap), work that way (in the US, at least) so bath faucets are usually designed the same way. I think the repair guy had it right, and your original faucet was actually installed wrong.
It will feel strange at first, but you will get used to it.
