Jacuzzi Hot Tubs

Jacuzzi....simply the best hot tubs in the world. Check this out

A few tiles have fallen off of the inside of my jacuzzi/hot tub; how & with what adhesive do I put them back?

They're regular ceramic tiles that create a border on the inside of my hot tub/jacuzzi. Is there a special adhesive that I can use? Do I have to grout? Do I have to caulk? I'm just really confused on what substance I have to use to stick them back on to the inside of my hot tub. Thanks for your help!

First before you start on any repairs, I recommend that you drain your hot tub & dry it out, and then I recommend that you check the rest of the tiles in the tub enclosure - to make sure they are all sound, and you're not going to have to remove & replace some more tiles just as soon as you get the ones replaced that fallen off right now. To check tiles for solid adhesion you tap the vertically installed tiles with a hardwood wood dowel, (to hear the difference, (Take one of the tiles that has come loose and reinstall it back into the opening into which it came - and then duct tape it in place - with the duct tape "picture framing the loose tile on all four sides about 1". then lightly apply pressure with your thumb and index finger to the top & bottom edges of the taped in loose tile - to hold it firmly to the the back up sub-strate. Using your 10"-12" 1" diameter hardwood dowel "tap" on the tightly installed tiles around the "loose" tile - and hear how the tapping sounds. Now, tap on the "loose" tile, hear the difference? Now tap the "loose" tile again and then tap one of the solidly grouted tiles and listen for the difference.

On horizontal tiles you can uses this same technique - or "chain" the tiles - if they are 6" x 6" or larger. " Chaining"
a surface is simply taking a chain, (in the case of tile - use a 5/8" link chain, and yuo just lift the chain about 3" to 4 " above the tile and drop the chain down until a coiple of links strike the tile surface. Loose tiles will give off a "Hollow" sound.

Once you have identified all loose tiles, carefully remove the tiles and the thin set grout from behind then to a depth of about 5/8 ". Do this demolition work before you go to the tile shop for replacement supplies, (hopefully you have extra tiles from when you did the tub in the first place, - it can be very difficult to match the color of tiles - even cremes, whites and primary colors, - so sometimes I've advised the client to consider taking out additonal tiles at random locations - and then pick out a an "accent" tile - which specifically does NOT match the existing tile work.

Anyway, do all demo work first - in case you damage adjacent tiles, or loosen them as you prep the openings for the new tiles. Once finished count the number of tiles you need and the colors, (take a tile or big pieces of existing tile you want to match with you to the tile shop; and a sample of the joint grout too, - so you can match the tile & joint grout- unless you've got extra stock on hand in storage.

Go to your local Tite shop and ask for a quick seting epoxy adhesive kit, or fusion epoxy setting grout, (DO NOT USE THIS GROUT FOR GROUTING JOINTS!!). Describe what you are doing, - and how much surface area you need to replace. For the joint grout, use a latex modified anti-microbial / anti-fungicial grout that will not sustain mold growth..

Setting buttons. I use setting buttons under each of the 4 corners of the replacement tiles to make sure the finished surface of the replacement tile is held in the same plane as the existing tile. I use sections of pencil eraser for setting buttons under the replacement tiles. I buy long sections of eraser about the diameter of the pencil - that are used in powered eraser guns. , I get these at office supply stores, Art & Architectural supply stores.

To install the setting buttons, just slide a straight edge over each corner of the tile "Pocket" where you are going to install a replacement tile - in about 1"from each edge- at each cornerand measure the depth of the pocket - which should be about 5/8" - 3/4" deep. Allowing for a tile thickness of 5/16" means that if the overall depth at the liaction you measured & marked was 5/8" deep - then you cut you setting button to 5/16" deep. 5/16" + 5/16" = 10/16 = 5/8". Set the eraser "Buttons" in place with quick drying super glue.

Using two part epoxy (Resin & hardener) adhesive is appropraite for horizontal applications, - but a poor choice for vertical applications. On vertical surfaces, go with quickset fusion grout , (you can also ad acryl 60 - a liquid adhesive the color and consistensy of skim milk to the mix - in lieu of water - remember this though - this grout sets up very quick - so make is small batches and work fast, and clean up any over spill on finihedsurfaces ASAP..

Hold tiles in place once the thin set or two part epoxy is in place, and in full contact with the tiles. When dry, ( follow manufacturers guide lines). In the meantime, if all of the tiles that you need to replace are just in the border -(everything else you tested was "good", Take advantage of the fact that the tub is drained to clean the jacuzzi tiles & grout, check all the jets, re-seal and jet seats that might need re-sealing - remove calcium depostis from chrome trim & jet nozzles, dry out cleaned tub, and seal tile & grout, - by buffing sealant into tiles and joints.

Once replacement tiles are set, fill in jloints withwater ptoof / mold resistant anti-mcrobial joint grout, and strike the joints with a damp towell, then finish off the job as you would any tile project - do not forget to seal the remaining tile worl that you did not seal aloready. I would not use the tub for a week.

Good luck, - I think if you follow these easy steps you will be very satisfied with your results.

When setting tile is dry

you'll need a water prof type and yes calking is needed, your tub sales person should help in getting you wet again.

Hydraulic Cement!

Tile adhesive, then grout. They have smaller containers now for do it yourselfers. The containers will direct you how to do it and how long to leave it alone before using again.

Getting rid of the FLO message in a Jacuzzi Hot tub?

How do I get rid of the flo problem I keep getting in my Jacuzzi hot tub? I drained and refilled it this weekend, cleaned the filters, got all the air out of them, and I still get the flo error message. Any ideas on how to get rid of the message?

Could be the mechanical side of the flo meter. If it`s not spinning the electrical side won`t acknowledge the unit is pumping. I`d have a tech check it for you!

If you don't like Flo's message then tell her to go home and ask Jessica. She gives much better messages

I have an older Jacuzzi hot tub, and suddenly the jets and heater stopped working?

I have an older Jacuzzi hot tub. Last week when it got cold 40 degrees or so, the jets and heater stopped working. any ideas on how to get it going again

Reset the breaker

If you have an electrical tester, make sure you have power to the controls. If not, the breaker may be tripped.
If you do have power, the control panel may be shorted out.

I own a older Jacuzzi hot tub the heater won't work wondering where the heater element is, trying to save $.

The tub works but makes a buzzing noise also the heater won't work. I'm told that it could be the element, the controller or the thermistat, does anyone out there have knowlege about the older model jacuzzi hot tubs. I'm trying to save my landlord some money on the repairs so we can get it running soon. Thanks for your help! Carol K

I have an older one (1986) and I have not been able to find a part for mine but this site might have yours -

It's worth checking.

What's the difference between jacuzzi, hot tub and in-bath whirlpools when looking at hotel room amenities?

When I look at different amenities for hotel rooms, some list having in-bath whirlpools, others will have hot tubs or jacuzzis. What is the difference between all of these?

Usually an in-bath whirlpool is just a "big" tub with jets to force the water around. Hot tubs and Jacuzzis are the same thing, usually always filled with water and treated just like a swimming pool and of course, "Hot"! Jacuzzi is actually a brand of hot tubs!!

in bath are in your room private
hot tubs are common rooms shared
some suites have jacuzzis all of their own

Jacuzzi is just a brand. A spa is one that you don't drian after you use it and are found outside a hotel or home it also fits more people. A whirlpool bath is one that you would drain right after you use it. They all have a heater though its option and a blower.

hot tubs-flat, few jets (I have one)
In-bath whirlpools- same things as hot tubs
Jacuzzi- comfy seating, lots of jets, tempature control.

I prefer Jacuzzis.

What hotels offer a private hot tub or jacuzzi in Monterey,CA in a hotel room?

Hi,

We are celebrating our 2 year anniversary in Monterey, CA. We are looking for a room with a private jacuzzi or hot tub that is inside the room. Any ideas? Thank you.

There are several places that have some rooms with jetted tubs. Check em out, and make sure that the room description and/or amenity list specifically says "jetted tub".

Try the Plaza on Cannery Row or the Portola on the Warf.

The Old Monterey Inn have accommodations specific to the one you are looking for.

As a hotel manager from the peninsula, I can tell you that you can get quite a selection of rooms with jacuzzi tubs in the bathroom, a few with the tub in the bedroom, and only about five rooms in the area with a tub in the room as well as an ocean view. The absolute best is the Tickle Pink Inn in Carmel Highlands. The pictures on the website are not an exaggeration.

when i get in the hot tub or jacuzzi, why do my testicles hang way down?

i have an adequate package, but when i sit in a hot tub or jacuzzi for a short time, my testicles hang way down. i was in the jacuzzi tub with my wife recently and when i got out, they were hanging like 6-7 inches below my penis. My wife was way turned on and during sex, they were so low they were really spanking her. she really liked it but during a normal day, they are just at their normal position.

why is this?

when you are in a colder climate, your testicles will pull closer to your body to keep your sperm at body temperature or they die, so when they lower in hot water, they relax and lower

you have a saggy sack. hehehe.........saggy sack. repeat after me, saggy sack, saggy sack..........hehehe

When it's hot the testicles will sag to keep the sperm inside cool, and vice versa when cold.

Nothing else really, thats why that happens mate.

Hope this helps

The scrotum is heat sensitive and is a way the body controls the temperature in order to keep the testicles at a constant temperature. In cold temps your scrotum tightens up and holds the testicles next the body for heat. In warm temperatures such as a hot tub the scrotum relaxes and the testicles hang way down in order to be cooler. It is all normal.

the scrotum adjusts to maintain optimum temperature in the testicles for maximum sperm production. Thus in a hot hot tub, the scrotum relaxes and lets the testicles dangle to help them cool down. And if you sit in a tub of ice water, the scrotum will contract and draw them up to keep them warm.

When your cold, they grab close to your body. And when your warm, the hand LOW. Sorta like when u get up in the morning. u were in the warm covers and they hang low!

Don't worry about it buddy! Its your scrotum (testicle sac) that pulls your testes up and down. They sag in hot, and clinch to you in cold. If you played with them a little I would assume they may sag less?

Hot Wire For An Outdoor Jacuzzi/Hot tub?

I have two prong plugs outdoors. Is it a hot wire suitable for a jacuzzi/hot tub?

I dont know what a ground means.

No... Hot tubs have to be hooked up by a professional electrician... Depending on the hot tub you need either a 230 or a 240 volt line... Plus you need a dedicated circuit breaker at the main circuit panel as well as a separate shut off no more than 15 feet from the tub itself...

What is the difference between a jacuzzi, hot tub and spa?

A corner bathtub with 12 jets compared to a hot tub.

There is no difference. It's a matter of semantics and company tags. A Jacuzzi is the manufacturer's name of a tub with jets, a hot tub has jets but isn't necessarily manufactured by Jacuzzi, a spa tub could be a Jacuzzi or another tub manufacturer that has jets. A garden tub has no jets. This is the same as calling all tissues Kleenexs or all copying machines Xeroxes. Any tub with jets could have any company name that makes them and there are many. Jacuzzi is a manufacturer's name. There are many names of companies that make jet tubs. We have a Jacuzzi brand garden tub...no jets. It's just a name.

I am looking to Purchase a Jacuzzi hot tub and was wondering what others experience has been with that brand?

http://www.jacuzzihottubs.com/j-400/j-465.html is the model I am looking at.

Are these spas as energy efficient as they claim. Approximately $15 dollars per month?

The brand is good, but take a hard look at the distributor, are they an actual Jaccuzzi authorized store? If you have problems after the sale, you need to be able to trust that they can handle it professionally.

Sage is dead on as far as other brands being less expensive... Compare warranties as well.

And the $15 a month figure sounds like it is based on having the unit covered and only heated and circulated, not actually used. Your energy consumption will probably be higher than that. I know mine is.
