Extraordinary way to pamper your body Sun.Star

Sunday, October 9, 2011

EVERYONE troops to salon these days -- male, female and even kids.

Taking care of one's skin, hair and nails is no longer considered as decadent but as part of everyday, in this case periodic, hygiene.

Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos.

Waxing and nail treatment are two basic ways of maintaining hygiene and pampering oneself.

Body waxing is a method of semi-permanent hair removal that removes the hair from the root. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, bikini area, legs, arms, back, abdomen and feet. There are many types of waxing suitable for removing unwanted hair.

The benefits of waxing versus other forms of hair removal are numerous. For one, it is a very effective way of removing large amounts of hair at one time and it is a long-lasting method. Hair in waxed areas will not grow back for two to eight weeks.

Meanwhile, nails endure daily beatings of hard work but easily become a neglected part of the body. Nails should be moisturized just like the skin. It requires extra attention and care.

Leg Waxing?

I've been a regular waxer for two and a half years, and I'm not getting any of the benefits I thought I'd get with waxing.... You're supposed to be hair free for at least two weeks, and normally my hair breaks off (I have coarse hair that grows in different directions so it breaks off easily)... So even after two years, my legs look so disgusting...as hairy as my brothers!

Is it worth it to keep going or should i start...eeeeeeee....shaving?

I waxed my upper lip for about a year...In that year, my fuzz went from fine blonde to almost black !!
Ofcourse I stopped waxing and since then I've slowly gone back to a fine blonde mustach...I'll take fine blonde over course dark anyday !!

Shave it and save your money.

save yourself from the pain and shave or even get that hair removal cream its soooo much cheaper than waxing

well, if you have been getting it done professionally then it shouldn't be a problem, if all else fails, shave.

What is the best leg waxing kit?

I am thinking about waxing my legs once to try it. What is the best home kit that you can buy at Wal-Mart or Target? About how long should leg hair be before you wax? Can you wax your underarms? Are there any good recipes for making wax at home? Any other tips/suggestions?

personally i would go to an esthetician to get my legs waxed. there are certain angles and precautions that the at hoem person doesnt knwo abotu waxing. if you pull on the wrong angle you can break your hair and get ingrowns or you can scar yourself( the wax will take off your skin). or the wax just wont come off. as per one of the other q's on here where it was stuck on her v. safe yourself the hassle and go to an esthetician but make sure they are clean!!!!!!!!!!

Can someone please tell me everything I need to know about leg waxing?

Okay, so I am 13 years old. I have been shaving about a year and a half. I have really dark leg hair, and it stands out because I am really pale. I have to shave every day to keep my legs smooth, and the hair grows thick and fast. I am thinking about buying a waxing kit for my legs at the store. I have very sensitive skin. Can someone tell me the a good kind to buy, how to use it, etc. Thanks very much =)
How long does it usually last?

I think you are probably too young to stand that pain... Keep shaving a bit longer. And have your first waxing done by a professional - it's more expensive but you'll learn how to do it correctly. After that you could try Nad's - I like it, because it's chemical free and perfect for my sensitive skin.

It hurts like hell.
First buy a kit
make sure your hair is long enough other wise you just waste your time
apply heated wax to the skin
place on strip and pull the opp. of hair growth
then put a cool rag on the leg, or area after you are done to help with pain and redness.

Well if you have sensitive skin then it might turn a little red after you wax, but that wont last long. No matter what though, dont try hair removal lotions like veet or nair.

here are some waxing reccomendations:
marzina roll-on waxing kit.

Buy a brazillian wax kit from CVS. i have sensitive skin too, so you shouldn't use it. I really hurts your skin, but you will get use to it like me.. Hope you the best.

don't do it! waxing is very painful, esp if you have sensitive skin. i have had mine professionally done, and it's easier that way. but i still had bruises from it. i have used veet, and that works pretty well too. but i can guarantee if you try to wax yourself, you'll regret it.

it hurts.

if it's done wrong, it can get your first layer of skin off.

then you have to walk around with raw knees.
do yourself a favor and keep shaving for a while longer.

besides most women won't want to do it for you because you are so young.

ive seen young girls turned down due to their age.

I would go to a professional. I know it cost more, but if you see it done by a professional, you may feel more confident to do it yourself. You do have to let the hair grow out a bit.
Good news is the hair gets thinner and thinner when you wax over time because the trauma to the follicle weakens/kills it.

What do I need to know about leg waxing?

I plan to get my legs professionally waxed. This is my first time and I know nothing about the process. Is it possible to only get half of my leg waxed (below the knee) and how bad does this hurt? How much does it cost and is this cheaper than waxing your entire leg? And of course, I MUST ask....how bad does it hurt? Can anyone describe to me in the greatest detail what it feels like, just so I'm prepared. Do you advise that I drag someone along for a hand to hold? I'm pretty scared!

Yeah, you totally can just get your half leg waxed that's what I do! Yes it is a lot cheaper than waxing your entire leg. I just recently started waxing my legs professionally and I highly recommend Uni K Wax (check if you have one in your area). They use a hard wax which the wax itself acts like the strip when it dries. It hurts a lot less than other waxes trust me and it also is natural which is a bonus! At Uni K Wax for a half leg wax they charge me $25 which is cheaper than most places. The pain depends on your pain threshold, for me it doesn't hurt it maybe will feel a little strange. They pull the wax off so fast that you almost don't have time to react. Remember to exfoliate your legs before and after you wax and everyday following so you can avoid ingrown hairs but getting a few is normal. You'll be fine! It's not horrible pain, and the first time is always the weirdest but then after the results are definitely worth it. The more you wax the less uncomfortable you feel. Now I just go and lay down and talk to the beautician while she works away like nothing is going on. Remember to bring capris/shorts or sweat pants so you can roll up your pants so they can wax your legs. Good luck, relax and you'll be fine!

its better than shaving, and you should not wax above the knee if you have light hair. Only wax as much as you need too.

To get "the feel" of it, buy a home kit and try it out. Cost varies depending on where you are, call around salons and ask. Yes you can do only your lower legs.

I'm got my arms waxed and they hurt, especially if you haven't got them waxed before. For the first time, they'll get red if you have sensitive skin and stay red for about an hour than get better on their own. I would say after your done, wash your legs with luke warm water so get all dirt out that waxing probably has left behind. It doesnt hurt as bad as you think and its worth it! You dont get any hair for a whole month and if you wax regularly, it wont hurt at all!

Haha.... of course it hurts.... but it's quick... so dont panic lol.... also depends on how sensitive you are. If you've got your eyebrows done... it doesn't hurt that much. I can't really explain it better than that. I don't know why you wouldn't get your entire leg done... I've never asked that before... I don't think it would be much cheaper... or worth it for that matter. Don't be scared... they're professionals. If you're nervious bring a friend... I brought my bf if it helps. Good Luck

What is the leg hair lenght prior to professional waxing?

I've always shaved - or as a kid tried the lotions but that was horrid, hated it...

What lenght does your leg hair have to be prior to getting your legs waxed?

Any tips, can I take advil before hand?

Your hair needs to be atleast 1/8th of an inch before you get it waxed.

I've gotten my legs done before and it wasn't very painful. I was laying on a nice heated bed and got to read magazines for two hours. The warm bed made it relaxing.

Really long, past the point of "eww i need to get rid of it now." haha. (Maybe like 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch)
It hurts pretty bad after the first few times.
Go ahead and take the advil.

no the waxing goes fast. and I get my eye brows waxed it is like pulling off a band-aid fast and mainly is just sore after.. no advil needed then just apply some anti - burn lotion or they will give you something to stop the burning and that is all.. no bug deal really I was scared to at first but then you learn it is nothing.
-good luck!

i have been told that the recomended growth time is 5 weeks which is kinda embarrasing in the summer, or if you wax your underarms like I do.......the five weeks also applies to eyebrows and OTHER areas...

How long should leg hair get to prior to waxing?

I am going on holiday in a couple of weeks. I want to get a leg wax just before going. How long should my leg hairs be before I get the wax and how many days growth would this be?

Half a centimetre. I cant really say how many days growth that is as some people's hair grows faster than others, your in a better position to judge then me! Hope this helps though.

Your leg hair needs to be about a quarter of an inch for the wax to grab on to an pull the root out. This is usually about 3-5 days for me, but it depends on how fast your hair regrows. Take it day by day. Unless your hair grows extremely slow, no more than a week is needed, but I would suggest going as long as you can and waxing as close as possible to your departure date, that way the waxing lasts longer. Hope this helps and have a great holiday!

At least 2 weeks growth and more like 3 if they were shaved last time.

around 2-5mm is fine. I'd say get your legs done about 1-2days before you go away.

It depends on how fast you hairs grow, but if you want waxing to be effective then don't shave for a week prior to appt (if you shave!). Otherwise the waxing won't take all the hairs off properly and some will grow back quicker.

It must be at least half a centimetre (5mm). I have been waxing my legs for years now and so this takes 3-4 weeks for me. Luckily they have got quite fine now which is good. If you try waxing and your hairs are not long enough the wax cannot get a good grip on your hair and it doesn't work very well. :(

You have to wait at least 24 hours after waxing before exposing your skin to the sun, as the skin may be sensitised and more prone to burning - this is especially important for bikini and underarms.

As an alternative and re-useable option, I would recommend looking at epilators. Similarly to waxing, it pulls the hairs out the roots so they grow back slower and finer (over time) and you can use it yourself (no salon fees), plus you can do it when your hairs are just 1-2mm long.

An epilator costs about £30-40, which is about 2 salon leg waxes, so long-term it's a cheaper option, but you don't get the luxury feeling of going into a salon, and they are quite noisy. But if you have an adapter you can take it on holidays with you (good if you have 2 weeks!).

Have a great holiday and best of luck with the hair removal!

3mm long

How much do places that include leg waxing charge for a full leg wax (In Southern California)?

To get a full (upper leg + lower leg) wax in Southern California it is approximately how many US dollars?

My salon/spa charges $35, but I see that is cheap compared to the ads other salons are running for 50 bucks.

How effective is leg waxing the first time? Is it safe to do while pregnant?

My husband is coming home after being deployed and I want to get my legs waxed. How effective is the first wax? Is it ok to do while pregnant? (20 weeks pregnant) About how long will it be smooth? I know this is gross, but I've been planning on getting my legs waxed and I know the hair has to be a bit longer than I'd normally wear it. How long should it be? 1/4 of an inch? Longer? Shorter?
TIA!!!!!
Um...I've never heard of prego women's skin coming off while waxing. I worried more about being prone to irritation and whether or not I should expect more since I'm pregnant.

Well it is fine, and it is only wax no harsh chemiclals, waxing is very effective it will stay away for a long time like 1-2 weeks, if not longer. that is long enough(1\4)

How long does leg waxing last?

If I have my legs waxed, how long will it be before I see new growth?

Also, someone told me that if I continue to wax, that some of the hairs won't ever come back again. Is this true?

Also, does waxing hurt very badly?

The first time I waxed my legs, they lasted completely hairless for a week, and they had short thin hairs for about two weeks.

I've waxed my legs around 6 or 7 times now and they last for about two weeks.

It also depends on the thickness of the hair and it's quite different for everybody but waxing is the best choice for removing leg hair.

And yes, there are some hair that never comes out again and it gets thinner every time/

BTW, the first time you wax it hurts like hell, but don't worry, it won't be nearly as bad the next time you do it.

Any other ways to remove leg hair then shaving and waxing?

okay i cannot stand shaving and waxing legs any other ideas to remove leg hair?

nair
