New Spa NiVa takes over vacated Spa One spots Arizona Daily Star
A new, family-owned day spa business is opening in locations left vacant by the Tucson-based Spa One chain, which closed suddenly this summer.
Tucson pediatrician Dr. George Hobeich, his wife, Renee Hobeich and daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Nick Menke, opened the first location of Spa NiVa Friday at 6330 N. Campbell Ave.
They took over the spa equipment and leased space used by Spa One, which left some employees and customers angry and upset when it closed without explanation.
Renee Hobeich said the family expects to open two more Spa NiVa locations by Nov. 25 - at 6380 E. Grant Road and in Sam Hughes Place at 446 N. Campbell Ave.
The new business has already hired 33 people, and about 60 percent of the new hires are former Spa One employees.
"I want to emphasize that we are not in any way affiliated with Spa One. We did not buy the business," Renee Hobeich said this week. They simply decided to rent the space and use the equipment and furniture Spa One left behind.
Local Day Spa In Surfers Paradise Area

I have arranged a girls' trip to a local day spa. I would like to give everyone a gift . . .?
I'm looking for something inexpensive (I need 20) that is still cute. I thought maybe embriodered tote bags. I'm not looking for spa stuff (i.e. lotions) becuase we'll get all that at the spa. Any ideas ???
Ages are 21 - 60, every size too
I think a tote would be the perfect spa day gift.I found some on llbean.com.You can have thier intials put on it they run about $15.00 for the small ones which would be perfect to put everything from the spa in.Have fun!!!! P.S. can I come too? I have never been to a spa.LOL....Again have fun and good luck!!!
As for something else, I couldn't really suggest anything else without knowing the age of the girls.
15? 25? 45?
But, yeah, a tote bag would be a good idea, it's something that everyone would probably enjoy receiving.
And bubbles are just so much fun to have! =]
I also like your tote bag idea! =]
I got an erection during a massage this morning at the local day spa?! Should I have apologized?
A girl who always comes into my work (dont know her personally shes just a regular) told me to come into her day spa and that they do really good massages...I hadnt been to a day spa before but anyway when I got there I said hi to her then I went off with another therapist who was giving me the massage...so I was having a massage on my back for half an hour and when the girl asked me to roll onto my back to do my legs I had a really big erection...it was so embaressing...I saw her face when she saw it and she looked a bit uncomfortable but I didnt know whether to apologize or just say nothing cuz I didnt wanna make it worse?! What should I have done?? She will prolly tell the other girl now that comes into my work!!! HOW EMBARRASSING
I don't think you have anything to worry about. Of course it would be a little akward for both the person giving the massage and the person receiving it, but it has probably happened many times before.
There are alot of different nerves in your body and some have a direct affect on your penis which would cause the erection to happen even though you weren't actually aroused.
Trust me, its happened before, it will happen again, and she probably won't make a big deal about it. She was probably just as embarrassed as you were and will not tell anyone about it.
What is your favorite part of going to a day spa?
I am considering opening a day spa. What is your favorite part of going to a day spa? What things would you like to see at your local spa? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
I really enjoy the couples massage with two masseuses. I gave one to my mom for Christmas. We were able to go into a room together, and chat while we were still nervous. As we relaxed, we were able to quit talking, but it was nice knowing that we were in there together. I loved the aroma therapy and hot oils. My mom is real shy and had never had a massage before. She loved it dearly and goes back now on her own. But, it is a great way for two people to spend a day together.
Cute day spa ideas?
What would you like to see or do next time you go to the local day spa? Creative ideas are greatly appreciated! Thank you.
I have a favorite day spa that I visit with my husband. It is in an old victorian style house and decorated accordingly. We do a couples package where we get into big fluffy robes and have tea, fruit, and cookies in their dining room next to the fireplace. Then it's off to the "master suite" for a candlelit tandem massage. You can customize packages depending on which services you prefer and you can also have a meal. This spa is our favorite treat for special occasions. If you are in Jersey, check out "Gentle Healing Wellness Spa". We especially love Diego and Linda!

If your husband paid for a full hour massage by a handsome man at the local spa for your Mother's Day gift...?
....would you have used it by now?
I didn't say they were important and I definitely didn't make a sexual connotation. I'm simply being as detailed as I can to help you with your answer.
1thousand is super fantastic. Didn't you learn anything from the Seinfeld episode where Jerry was dating the masseus?
Yes.
In fact I would have had numerous appnts since the first one. And maybe I'd be dating him if he were any good at it.
Same with women. I;d have to give mine away.
Lol, my hubbs knows me too well to get me one anyways.
I'd prefer something dealing with computers!
I get regular massage because it's good for my health. My massage therapist is a guy in his late 50s. I chose him because of his training.
I gave a gift sertificate from this place to my bf. He can chose a massage therapist himself. Could be a gorgeus woman for all I know, but the key is - she'd be a good professional who works at a reputable place.
Ahh, sorry for being wordy. But to answer your question - yes, I would have used it by now.
How to advertise a day spa to bring more people in when your spa is on a tiny island?
currently i run a day spa the location is koh samui, thailand. how did i manage to bring more walkin customers when the majority are all customers from international locations not locals or even thais, also advertising in many publications in thailand has not worked since most tourists who come here dont read any publications or articles, most come to eat, sleep, have fun, and get a massage, also asking hotels and restaurants has been tried but they want a large sum of money for it first? can anyone help me, as i am trying to grow my business
Ok, the three basics of marketing are market, message and media.
You've identified your market as the tourists. See if you can further tighten that definition - is it primarily the old Norwegian ladies, or the middle aged fat German guys, or what? Who's your best, stereotypical customer? In this process you want to consciously weed out the random people who wander in and cause nothing but headaches.
Next, message. What are these best customers looking for that makes them decide to walk in your door? Why did they choose your spa, today? (hint: ASK THEM). "Hi, thanks for coming, how did you hear about us? What made you decide to choose our spa, today?" These answers will refine your message (you might want to read up on the concept of USP). So after you're done, you'll know that "I want to find 40+ French women who usually stay at these 3 hotels and tell them "the only spa on the island that speaks native French, has real truffles, and there are no German men allowed" See?
Media: or, how will you deliver the message. You've already identified many options, but your hangup is cost. Here are 2 things to think about:
1) what's a customer worth to you, in terms of gross profit? So if the French lady comes in, and spends $100, is your gross profit about $50? In which case, how much would you be willing to pay to get that $50 profit? Me, it'd be at least $25, maybe more depending on some other factors. So maybe those large sums of money aren't so high after all?
2) you need to meticulously test and track your markets, messages and media - so that you can say "I thought my best market would be those French ladies, but it turns out the German dudes spend more on average and are a lot less demanding, plus there's twice as many of them and the hotel only charges $5 per referral versus $20 per at the French hotel.
See?
Now the specifics of the media/ message - you probably already know what works, because that's what the most successful businesses on the island are doing. Expand your view - don't just look at other spas. Look at the restaurants and the scuba/snorkel guys, see who the dominant players are, and find out what they're doing. Maybe even set up a referral for cash deal with them, or something like "if you buy a scuba day trip, you get a free facial from the spa, and if you buy a spa full day experience, you get a free hour of snorkel kit rental"
Go get started.

What should I wear on a spa day?
Alright, so my brother (as a gift) got me some services at a local spa before I head off for college. Anyways, I've never been to one and I have no idea if I'm supposed to wear anything in particular, or even what to do in general. I'm getting a massage, facial, and mud wrap. So, being a guy, should I just wear shorts, t-shirt, and flip flops? Do you strip down to underwear during the massage? Anyways, any help is appreciated. thanks
Wear something comfortable because after the massage you may be a little sore, and after the mud wrap, you will probably be a little wet from lotion and stuff. You should probably just wear gym shorts, a t-shirt and flip flops. I always get naked when I get a massage, but you can wear boxers if you feel more comfortable that way. My boyfriend usually keeps his boxers on b/c he's a little shy. During the mud bath, you will be completely naked though or your clothes will get all muddy (I think, I haven't had a mud wrap in a few years, so I don't really remember.) I think they give you disposable paper underwear to put on so that the technician doesn't see anything you don't want them too. Pretty much, just enjoy and more than likely the technician will tell you what to take off, what to expect, etc.
How common is it to get a woman customer who has hair that needs to be waxed on their back and chest?
I am talking to people who actually wax for a living. My neice has PCOS and she is terrified of going to our local day spa to get a total body wax because she is afraid the staff will think she's gross and make fun of here. Is this a common thing for the waxers? Thanks.
i don't know, but they're waxers, so i'm sure they have seen hair anywhere and everywhere! hahaha.
besides, if they're professional and mature, they have no business making fun of her.
tell her not to worry and go! :)
x apple.
Father's Day is coming...?
Father's Day is coming and I want to get my husband a massage at the local day spa. He says although he would enjoy it we don't have the money. But he says we don't have the money for things that we WANT for ourselves, just our necesseties. When it comes to the children they get what they want. My question is what would you do? Get the massage anyway (he would enjoy it) and make him mad, or go with what he says and get him something else that is only like 10 dollars or so.
Have you thought about YOU giving him the massage for Father's Day? That might give him what you want to give him without spending the money.
As a father, I can tell you that the only thing I want for Father's Day is to do something with my kids.
