Microdermabrasion?
Hi,
My beauty therapist says I might benefit from a microdermabrasion. I am 24 and I have OK skin but there are very slight (and I mean slight) acne scars from when I was in my early teens).
Would microdermabrasion be beneficial to someone of my age?
yes, microdermabrasion is safe after you turn 18. itr will work nice on your acne scars and first fine lines, but you have to be patient, best results are obvious after the entire treatment, 8 sessions. first results, however, are visible after the first session.
good luck.
available online. These work wonders.
Maybe it will work on you too.
Try searching it through Google 'shopaholic's bargains'

What is a good home microdermabrasion product?
I have heard really good things about microdermabrasion, but I cannot afford to go to a spa to have it done. Has anyone tried a home microdermabrasion product that they have liked?
I have been using at home microderma kits for about two years now... But you should know that the professional treatment is more effective than at home kits.
i understand you dont have the money... you have to find the right home kit. best products come from Neutrogena, Susan Lucci, dermanew and L'oreal, but there are hundreds of others that might work on you. my advice is to try and obtain some free samples online or from gift bags and try them on your face and than decide what to buy, because many kits may work on others but to you may cause irritations and breakouts.
hope this helps.
Often home microdermabraision treatments are performed incorrectly (I have actually seen scars) or the skin is not protected correctly after treatment (no sun exposure). Would you pull your own tooth? Perform your own lasik surgery? Remove a mole yourself? St Ives scrub is not the same as microdermabraision performed by a professional.
Do home microdermabrasion kits really work and what is the best one?
Do home microdermabrasion kits really work and what is the best one?
I have the Neutrogena one and it seems to be doing good. I think you could get faster/better results at a salon/plastic surgeon/whatever...but for $30 bucks I figured the Neutrogena one was worth a try.
How good are microdermabrasion and photofacials?
I am 42 years old and have been recommended microdermabrasion followed by photofacials (5 sittings each, 1 month apart) to remove pigmentation and rejeuvenate the skin. But the treatment costs a pretty packet and I want to know if its really effective. If yes, for how long? Are there any home remedies for pigmented patches? I live in a tropical region.
PS I have a normal to dry skin (in winters) and have never had a problem with acne at all.
I am male, close to your age, and live in a humid, semi-tropical climate (US Gulf Coast). I get microderms on a fairly regular basis; I love how smooth it makes my skin, and it also helps calm the redness of my mild rosacea. I can also tell it has help some old acne scars and it really helped to get rid of some stubborn blackheads (yuck).
Is that 1 month between treatments, or 1 month for all 5? If the latter, that sounds a bit rushed to me.
Not too sure about the photofacial, but if that's the same as IPL, you certainly want to spread it out some, as mine (for broken blood vessels, a common side-effect of rosacea) tends to be somewhat uncomfortable. In fact, before they got a different machine, it was downright painful, but perhaps for your application, they would tone it down a few notches...
I suspect that the photofacial does use IPL, so that is probably where the big expense is coming from. I think I would try two microderms only (no IPL) about 3 weeks apart and see how that does. In my area, one microderm runs about $65...
Good luck.
Good luck.
how many sessions of microdermabrasion will work mild acne scarring?
I'm 19 years old and I'm planning to go through microdermabrasion. Will I see results with 5 sessions? or will it take 10 sessions though? I have mild acne and acne scarring, oil skin and red spots due to acne.
This usually depends on the product you are using for microdermabrasion. I had experienced good results for my acne scars with just 3 sessions of Zenmed's renewing microdermabrasion complex.
In fact as you say, that you have mild acne, acne scarring, oily skin and red spots due to acne, then why do you want to have microdermabrasion sessions. These sessions at a spa are expensive and would only give you relief from scarring and your oily skin problem.
I would suggest you use Zenmed's derma cleanse acne system. It is a powerful system comprising of products that helps in getting rid of acne from its roots, stop its early re-occurrence, minimize the scarring and redness, unclog pores and provide a clean, clear and smooth skin. This would cost you just one-fourth of what you would end up paying at a spa and also save you alot of time. I would advise you to go for this stuff for a permanent solution to your skin problems.
I would also offer you to use my discount code "zen4less" to avail a price off, in case if you make up your mind to buy this product.

i believe its at tanning salons and/or spas like TanToday and Planet Beach - you could prob. find locations and phone numbers (to double check them having it) on Google. good luck! :)
Why not consider chemical peel? It's cheaper and some treatments can be carried out at the comfort of your own home. Do some research on glycolic acid peel and BHA peel before you finalised your decision.

How much does real medical microdermabrasion help to reduce enlarged pores?
What about microdermabrasion combined with an acid peel? How much of a change in my pores could I expect after one treatment? How much pain or "down time" is there after treatment? Have any of you gotten this done for enlarged pores and had good results? (remember, at home mdb is not the same thing) Thanks :)
I've had this done before professionaly ( a series of treatments) and it is so worth it. It does help a lot to minimize the size of your pores but what it really does is takes off the first layer of your skin so your face wash will penetrate deeper in your pores. An acid peel will burn a bit after if you use it. Oh and it isn't very painful. the person doing it has different levels they can put the machine on depending on the sensitivity of your skin. Just make sure you ask them for a sunscreen that wont clog your pores to use after the treatment because your face will be more prone to sunburn. Hope that helped!
What is the difference between physical scrubbing and microdermabrasion?
I mean...really, you're still scrubbing..right? So why is microdermabrasion better? And also, say you have thicker skin, wouldn't you be better off with physical scrubbing? As in with a loufa or something?
microdermabration is more of an exact science, while scrubbing is just sloughing off dead skin and i=making it red, microdermabration get more into the pores to help clean them out. although i do admit that advertising for skin products uses the term way to loosly, because i find the products dont always do microdermabration (but thats advertising for you)
What are 10 important things to know about microdermabrasion?
i am doing a report on the 10 things people should know about microdermabrasion.
As I don't want to plagerize, I will just list the site where I have found much important information on Microdermabrasion.
http://cosmeticdermatologist.riopellemdmedispa.com/Microdermabrasion.html
Just look through the site. At the bottom of the page I have listed there are big black headings, look under those and you'll find way more than 10 things you should know.
Is it ok Microdermabrasion and facial waxing on the same day?
I am planning a spa day and I need to know if I can I get Microdermabrasion plus mini facial and get my face waxed on the same day?
I would wait at least 24 hours between the 2 procedures, because both can irritate your skin. You could end up with a really red, raw, blotchy face if you do both on the same day. Give your skin time to heal between proedures definitely.
Is there any way to do a home microdermabrasion or skin-peeling without visiting a dermatologist?
I have a few acne-scars on my back and have read that microdermabrasion (resurfacing the skin) or chemical skin-peeling are both popular ways to remove the outer layer of skin / get rid of the scars. Are there any "home" kits for performing this or alternative ways of performing it without a visit to a dermatologist? The closest one to me is about 2 hours away.
I've recently tried Neutrogena's VisblyEven Skin Polishing Enzyme Treatment. And I like it.
This product will save you Time and Money; AND it's safe for use on Darker skin tones and on Sensitive Skin.
1 Tube ($12) will literally provide head-to-toe exfoliation. That's a bargain! The enzymes work to dissolve dead skin.
I have used it twice head-to-toe-to-back-to-fingertips(including the underarms). That's a mani-pedi, a facial, a back treatment and "specialty area" twice for about $25.00 total. Total time for both treatments:30-40 minutes total.
My routine: Shower, paint/slather thin coating onto, damp skin, wait 10 minutes, rub off of dry areas, then shower and use a buff puff to remove the rest. Cleanse and moisturize skin as usual. I recommend following up with a SheaButter moisturizer for the body afterwords.
Enzyme peels are the only peels I use as a professional, this is great over-the-counter product.
"Enzyme products work entirely on the surface of the skin to exfoliate, and do not penetrate a couple of layers of skin like the Glycolic Acid does.
Fruit Enzyme Products can accomplish the following:
Exfoliates dead skin cells
Stimulates new cell growth and new collagen
Improves skin tone and texture
Improves the appearance of fine lines and crepiness
Improve blotchiness and pigmentation irregularities
Safe for any skin type, including sensitive skin
