nail care!?

I'm not too sure about the fake nails anymore because of the mixed answers I have received..but how do I take good care of my nails? so that they look proffesionally done? how do i give myself i manicure at home? please give me a list of all the products i should use and prices and how good they are
since you said walmart which kits should i get and is that only for manicures?

nail buffer - makes your nails smooth and shiny, shouldn't cost more than £2.
cuticle sticks - good for tidying up your cuticles, also pushing them back seems to help nails grow faster. Come in packets costs less than £1.
emery boards - costs less than £2 for a packet of them.
nail hardener - looks like clear nail polish, moisturises nails and strengthens them. Costs about £3.
nail clippers - you probably have one but stick with the emery board if your nails are quite weak.
nail polish remover - again you'll probably have this. Use it sparingly since it dries your nails. Don't try to scrape nail polish off as it just damages your nails.
white nail polish and sticker guides - for french manicure. Probably doesn't cost that much.

actually at walmart they have sets that you can buy that has everything you need (including the tools) to give yourself a manicure...

walmart

first of all you should eat healthy, especially food with protein so your nails can look shiny and healthy!

What brand makes the best nail care kit?

I don't like going to the nail salon to get my nails done (rather do it myself). Can you suggest an excellent nail care kit/system that can be bought at the drugstore/convenience store? Or any particular brand that makes great nail products?

Sally Hansen is the best for your nails. They have a whole system including regular nail polish, nail growers, nail base coats, and etc.

after you press on this website, just press either nail polish or nail treatments on the right hand side of the page. hope this helps. =D

Do you know any youth courses in hairdressing or nail care in Brighton/hove?

Me and my friend (we're 15) want to do a course in either hairdressing or nail care, we're in the Brighton area but I wouldnt mind going to portslade. Its hard finding it for younger people, especially outside of school. Thanks x

How do I use a nail care kit?

I received one for Christmas and don't know what all the bits do! There is a 2-prong thing, a rubber ended thing, a nail file (I know that one!) a small pair of scissors, a small spatula type thing and some wooden pointy sticks. How do I use them on my nails?

Most of the bits you describe are to do with cuticles. The two-pronged thing should be used to remove the cutucles once they have been softened. (try warm water with a bit of fabric softener)The rubber ended thing is to push back cuticles, better used if you wrap some cotton wool round the tip., the same with the orange sticks (wooden pointy things) They can be used to clean round and under the nails.

Start by taking it out of its packaging

Does any one know about the history of nail polish? How do you keep your nail healthy? Any tips on nail care?

I need this for my research project on nail polish. I need information by 11.6.07 by 9:00. If any answers please post by this date and before 9:00. Deadline 9:00. Thanks!

I know that if you wear nail polish a lot, and you dont use a clear base coat, your nails turn yellow.
And to keep nails healthy, you need a lot of protien and gellatin's really good for them too.
And keeping nails short is good too.

Where to buy a nail care kit?

I have no idea where to get a nail care kit (You know, with filers and clippers and other stuff) so i was just wondering what is a good place to get one?

Do you know where I can buy nail care, nail art supplies in Hong Kong?

I'll be going to Hong Kong very soon. Can anyone recommend a great nail/beauty supply store there? Thanks.

im from hong kong so i hope i can help u.
sasa (pink logo, most popular, u can find many taiwan n japanese brands here too)
bonjour (blue logo, almost as popular as sasa, the only difference is tat it offers cheaper products so u may not find so much labels there)
mannings (orange logo, least beauty n nail art supplies)
watsons (teal logo, the one in CAUSEWAY BAY <a very famous shopping place in hong kong for teenagers, u will know it when u get ther> is the biggest, so its the best for u to go ther, it has 2 levels)
angel (less common n popular as compared to others, yellow lego)

What is the best way to care for a nail that has a callous growing under part of it and an irregular nail bed?

What is the best way to care for a nail that has a callous growing under part of it and an irregular nail bed?

Go to a dermatologist. I had a wart on a finger for years, one drop of something and it went away and stayed away.

I can't wear polish at work need help for nail care, strength and growth?

I'm not allowed to wear polish at work but my nails are very fragile and thin. Before I worked at my current job I wore clear strenghtening polish and never had a problem growing my nails. Now I can't get beyond stubs. Anyone have tips on how to protect my nails better? I work with food. Also my hands are very dry from all the dishwork and the sinks are too deep to allow me to wear gloves without the water getting in anyway.
not even a coat of polish. any fake or polished nails and I get sent away from work until they are gone and written up.

I'm an engineer at a food manufacturer. I can't wear polish either.

What my manicurist suggested was to still get regular manicures, but instead of polish, get a high shine buff. This has strengthened my nails a great deal.

Also, regarding your gloves, put the gloves on and rubber bands around your wrists to prevent the water from going in. I did this when I worked at a coal plant and the coal fines would get underneath my nails and in my socks. You have to play around with the rubber bands to find out what will work for you (ie, which ones won't cut off your circulation).
