How do you prevent your nail polish from peeling off when you put on a manicure strip?

I recently started doing nail art where you paint a layer, let it dry, put on the manicure nail strips to make a pattern, and then paint over the pattern with a contrasting color. Problem is when I lift off the strips, the first color peels off with it. How do I stop this from happening?

i always put on a clear coat after the first layer

Is their any other way to remove a french manicure (toes) besides nail remover?

I've tried to scrape off my manicure with nail remover and it's not going anywhere. Any advice/ tips? Thanks :]

-Hope everyone's having a good Saturday [so far]-

If you had them done at a salon, did the technician apply a UV gel topcoat, and then cure it under a UV lamp for about 2 minutes? If so, that is the problem. In this case, you would need to use a nail file and gently file the UV gel topcoat off of your nails before using nail polish remover. UV gel topcoat is non-porous, thus it is not easily penetrated by liquids, including nail polish remover and acetone. UV gels topcoats are applied in a thin layer and will file off easily. You only need to remove the topcoat itself and nothing more. Make sure to get all of it off from the entire nail. After that is done, use nail polish remover to remove any polish that was applied to your toe nails. For best results, use acetone nail polish remover if you have it.
If they did not apply a UV gel topcoat, then nail polish remover is all you should need. Unless, of course, your French Manicured toes were not done with nail polish, but instead done either with acrylic, or UV nail gels. If they are acrylic, then they will need to be soaked off in pure acetone for about 25-30 minutes. It helps to speed things up if you roughen up the surface of the acrylic nail a little with a nail file prior to soaking them. However, if they were done with UV nail gels, and cured under a UV lamp, then this is entirely different. As I mentioned, UV gels are not soakable. They would need to be filed off. If this is what you have on your toes, it is best to let a profesional remove them for you because even though you could easily file off the gel yourself with a 180 or 240 grit nail file, it is difficult for someone with no experience in doing this type of thing to tell when the gel has been filed completely off. If you were to accidently file too much, then you could easily damage your natural nails by filing them down thinking that you have not removed all of the gel yet. It takes some experience, and skill to properly remove UV gel toes.
If none of these apply to you, then I really don't know what the problem is and cannot hellp you without more detailed information.
I hope this helps!

Try Isopropyl Alcohol. That should work. Rinse with water after and put on some moisturizer after to keep them from drying out.

How long does a simply french manicure take at a nail salon?

I was just wondering how long it should take to get a basic manicure at a nail salon.

about 45 minutes usually plus the time for the nails to dry....its looks really nice too french manicure its classy

My manicurist gets it done in half an hour and it looks fabulous!

Mine takes 20-30 minutes.

abotu a half an hur with drying

If it's just a french manicure(usually meaning just getting the tips painted) it should only take about 10-15 minutes but if you are getting the whole manicure with the french tips about 20-30 minutes.

It would take 1 hour sometimes more or less I got them done yesterday for school

20

it doesn't take long, I used to get the french painting all the time, now I get acrylics. acrylics take long

How do I use my home manicure nail kit?

It has all these attachments on it. It loks just like the machines they use at the nail shop. I need to know how to use it. Like what steps I need to take and what attachments are for what. Please help!!!!!!!!!

users' manual

Use the coarsest nail file first, then work your way down to the smoothest file.

What the prices are for a french manicure at a nail salon place?

Like if i wanted to get a french manicure at a nail salon place what are the cost for that??

at the salon i go to its $24

Most places charge between $15-$30-it just depends on what type of nail salon you go to. Salons charge around $20 for a manicure, and mall nail places usually charge a few dollars less. Get the numbers for a few places and call around and see what they charge. Make sure to ask for french manicure on natural nails-some places charge extra for french polish or if you have acrylic/gel nails and are getting them filled also.

from 10 -25 bucks .

Anyone tried the pedipaw nail filer for animals? What do you think? I tried my battery nail manicure on my dog?

My sheltie tolerated it ok, just wondering if anyone has tried it yet and if you liked it or took it back? Thanks

If your interested in filing rather than cutting- I suggest going with the cheaper and better dremel tool instead.
Faster, cheaper, easier, and all around better.

My vet tried it for a few days. Their conclusion was that it was too noisy and took too long. They sent it back. A regular Dremmel tool or regular clippers are better.

Okay we just bought the pedi-cure for my pugs and German Shepherd dog. I mean its okay... BUT it takes a very long time and someone with too much time on their hands to do it. I mean I, personally, dont think its worth it.

its actually amazing how much it works.
Right when i saw the commercial,
i ordered it.
I had such a hassle doing it by hand.
I used to just take my dog to the groomer
and spent around $75 to get them trimmed.

but now,
its FREE!
the pedipaw nail filer is magnificent.

and i would greatly recommend it.

I tried it and my dog squirmed and hated it. It took forever for each nail

i found one at the grocery store and its going to be returned tried it on my german shepherd and no good the grinding wheel thinned out real fast and the naild where just shaped and not cut.

My smallest dog didn't have a problem with it, but my other dog wouldn't hold still enough to let me get one nail done.

I have not personally used it yet but I went on a tour of a pet store with my son and I asked the groomer about it and she said they love it but, It is very easy to get carried away and go to deep. That said just be careful and it is a great tool.

I received it as a gift and my Chi HATED it as well as I did. She squirmed so much I had to pin her down to trim two nails (and pinning down a 5 pound dog is tough) Two nails took me twenty minutes to trim, I finally gave up and used the old trimmers. I think the sound freaked her out. Needless to say (but I will say it anyway), I will be re-gifting that little gem. Who knows, maybe it won't bother your dog. Good luck.

Is it okay to bring your own nail color to a manicure appointment?

I'm new to the whole manicure scene, but I recently found a place that does an awesome job, and they're relatively inexpensive. However, their color selection is sadly sub par. I have my own extensive collection of OPI, and I was wondering if it's acceptable to bring your own nail color with you to a manicure appointment? I'm unsure of the etiquette with these kinds of things and I'd rather have some kind of idea rather than asking the nail salon and sounding like an idiot. Thanks!

Yes, as a matter of fact it is better. I do this so I can repair any little chips I get before my next appointment.

You're the one who is going to be paying them so I see no reason why you shouldn't bring your own polish. That seems fine by me, but maybe then you could just do it at home, it is a pretty simple task, but whatever.

This is absolutely Kosher! I know many people who bring their own colors in and have the manicurist apply their own colors. As snobby as this may sound, you are paying for a service and it's your perogative to choose your color. And it makes it easy if you ever have to do your own touch ups to have your own color with you.

Yes...you can definitely bring your own polish. I do it all the time b/c there is really only one color nail polish I like and it is really hard to find.

that is perfectly fine.

there is nothing wrong with that i do it often, you can even bring your own pedicure stuff as well (i do that too, because i know that the stuff is only touching my feet and i know that its clean).

Of course! I do it all the time. Especially if you found a place you like and they do a good job and they're cheap! Go for it!

Yes, you may bring your own nail polish to a salon. I've done it.

Some people bring their own manicure tools because they worry about germs. So why can't you bring your own polish because you prefer it?

Casually offer the bottle to the manicurist before she starts and say "I've been looking forward to this and already chose my color at home."

Avoid criticizing the salon's limited selection. Leave a fair tip and you'll be home free.

i do it all the time. i dont see why any manicure place would care because they are getting paid to paint your nails and not even using their own polish. if they say anything just be like well i want this color, i didnt know it would be that big of a deal.

Yes it is ok, I do it all the time. They should want to please you and make your nails look the way you want so they should have no problem with this.

I would think that the nail salon might prefer it that way, because if you think about it, it makes the stuff they have last longer, thus less expense.

Yes, you can bring your own nail polish. I do it all the time because I can never find the color there. You're paying them to do your nails, so you should be able to get the color you want. Just tell them as soon as you get there that you have a color picked out that you brought from home, and if they don't want to use yours (highly unlikely, but you never know....) they will find something in their selection that is close if not the same. I've had my nails done many times, and the first time I went in I had my own color to (it was a metallic light pink) and the lady had no problem. After going there a few times, she got used to me bringing in my own and would ask me as soon as I got there if I had anything picked out already. As long as you are nice to them they'll be the same to you.

You can DEFINITELY bring your own nail polish - heck you can ven bring your own tools. Some people have are concerned with catching hepatitis from the tools or other diseases and infections. I do it all the time - yours nail polish is probably even better than what they use! I've seen them thin out the nail polish when it is drying up (at more than 5 different locations). It won't be any less expensive but it's a better idea to use your nail polish anyways.

Absolutely, positively OK to bring in your own color!!

How to be a Nail technician/manicure teacher?

How do you go about being a nail technician, assuming you have been working in a salon for a number of years, and worked your way up from being a receptionist to nail technician, and then office manager... how would you then go about teaching the subject in a college or university? What qualifications would you need, any help is appreciated! Thanks : )

When I was in Cosmetology school here in Texas there was a lady that was taking an instructors class at the same time I was there. She basically was like a student teacher. She helped the main instructor do everything, and clocked in and got college hours just like the rest of us there. The school I went to certified you in hair and nails. The lady that was going to school to be the instructor had already gotten her Cosmetology license years before. So I think that you have to be licensed thru your state for so many years, and have so many working years of experience. Then you can go to the instructor's school and get certified. I bet you can look up the details on your states Cosmetology Commission's website. Good Luck!

is it easy to give yourself a french manicure if you have the nail tip guides?

I just recently ordered a french manicure set, so i need to know what to expect. it comes with three colors, beige, white, and pink, nail file, nail clippers, and nail tip guides, along with instructions.

Let me know what is the best way to do this, or should i be in great shape. thanx

Giving yourself a french manicure is very easy. The nail tip guides are very thin curved stickers that you put on your nail where the nail bed and white part of you nail meet. After putting these on your nail, you apply the white polish on the tips. After the white is dry, peal off the strips and paint your whole nail either with the pink or beige. I personally perfer the beige, but it is all about prefrence.
Very easy to do! Good luck and I hope they turn out great!

Do acryllic french nails last longer than a natural nail french manicure?

Acryllic last muchhh longer. Though i may warn you, if you ever deciede to remove them, your nails will hurt for atleast a week and a half and be very sensitive.
