Stossel Launches Fox Business Show National Journal (blog)
10.12.09
By Rachelle Douillard-Proulx
Libertarian pundit John Stossel will launch " Stossel ," his very own show, tonight on Fox Business Network.
It is a first for the broadcast journalism veteran, who, until recently, cohosted "20/20" on ABC. Hosting his own show wasn't something he had always dreamed about; it was for another reason he decided to give it a shot.
"[It was] more in response to current events, to my getting to a point in life where I thought I had learned enough that I had more to say about current events," Stossel said.
The particular topic that struck such a chord with him? "The health care bill."
Stossel, who prefers to focus more on issues than high-profile guests, will cover myriad topics over the course of the first three episodes, including government regulation and capitalism. And while he hasn't scored an interview just yet, Stossel would love to have former VP Al Gore on for a "lively debate" on climate change.

Pedicures......?
Feb 15, 2008 by robertswife | Posted in Other - Skin & Body
My feet are too tickleish (sp?) for a real pedicure. I will literally slide out of the chair laughing if someone even tries it. Is anyone aware of a foot creme that exfoliates and polishes. Taking vacation in one week and need to be sandal ready.
Sorry, I know this is a boring question!
You know what, I thought the same thing as you before I went for my first pedi. I am sooo ridiculously tickleish. Whenever anyone so much as puts their finger by my foot, I nearly kick them in the face. Usually people that work with feet know this and they actually do something that makes it less tickleish. I'm not quite sure what it is, but it works. It tickles a lot at first but they like, ease you into it I guess so, you should definitley go. Have fun on vaca!

How many pedicures does it take to see an enormous difference in your feet??
Oct 15, 2007 by Royalworshipper | Posted in Other - Skin & Body
LOL, hey I know that even just one you can see such a positve and absolutely wonderful difference, however if you keep giving yourself regular pedicures weekly, will you see a GREAT difference after a month?
You should be able to see calluses decrease to near nothing in a month. To keep you feet softer try use a foot cream and thick pair f socks for an hour in the evening. I can recommend http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2222376&cp=2484525.2484853&parentPage=category . I also have heard good things about the Goldbond products that may be less expensive and Bliss. You nails will become stronger if you buy a strengthening base coat and ask your pedicurist to use it. That takes 4-6 weeks to work, I believe. I know cuticles on hands improve if you condition them daily for a week. I doubt that is a concern though.
sarcasticbarbie31 | Oct 15, 2007
Your feet must be pretty bad if you have to go every week. Try this after your pedicures rub vasaline on them and then put socks on everynight before bed.
Good Luck
aynav | Oct 15, 2007
Yes most definetly.
I am a beauty therapist and have clients that come in weekly for pedicures and manicures. The difference is amazing, a lot of the time people forget about their feet until spring time and then panic as they want to wear sandals and get out of the winter footwear.
Like the other people said get some moisturiser, it doesn't have to be expensive and put on a good amount at night then put on some cotton socks. The warmth from the bed will make the moisturiser absorb better into your skin and will make a big difference to your feets appearance. This can be done with hands as well just use a cheap pair of cotton gloves.
Hope this helps.
Adele E | Oct 15, 2007
You should. But if they are in a bad way you should do it twice a week to begin with.

How often do you get manicures and pedicures?
Sep 29, 2006 by Rachel | Posted in Other - Beauty & Style
For a while there, I was getting manicures weekly and pedicures once a month. What an expense! I cut back to going just once a month for both, and now I'm extending it to every 7 weeks. What does everyone on here do?
i do my own - i don't like to tip!
tirebiter | Sep 29, 2006
I get pedicures every 2 weeks... I don't normally get a manicure but if I did I would get it every 2 weeks also you would probably need a manicure way faster than u would need a pedicure... So I would say 2 weeks for a mani and 2-3 weeks for a pedi... JMO
Cocoabutta98 | Sep 29, 2006
Never. Yeesh - are you guys made of money.
origamimark | Sep 29, 2006
Manicure once per month.
Pedicure once per month on winter, twice per month during summer.
C.C. | Sep 29, 2006
Came from a time where ya just didn't go out and do that so I guess I just learned to do it myself - amazing.
So the answer to your question is never.
Lowcarber | Sep 29, 2006
well i do it my self at home (twice in a month) its very easy nd cheap too... if u wanna know i will guide u... :)
Neeli | Sep 29, 2006
It depends on how well you take care of your nails in between services.
Manicures are usually a weekly service, but you could opt for only a polish change every other week.
As for pedicures, four to six weeks in between is great, but maybe once every two months in the winter with a polish and toenail trim in between.

angeinbama | Sep 29, 2006
I get my nails done (gel) every three weeks so she does a basic one for me then. but my hands get trashed being a hairdresser so i need it that often. feet, do it yourself. it such an expense to get it done. maybe treat yourself every so often at a salon. i do my feet once a month... your feet generally need it every month. Just buy a nice foot moisturiser and some nail polish... its nice still even when you do it to yourself.

What do you think of fishy pedicures?
Jul 22, 2008 by Persephone | Posted in Fish
I recently read that there are nail salons that offer pedicures where little tiny carp pick off the dead skin. They keep them in tanks and you put your feet in the tank. What do you think about that?
I don't like the idea, purely for the sake of the fish. :(
Not a very good life.
I read about this at work today on CNN.com. I don't know, I just think it seems really disgusting. I personally wouldn't want a million fish swarming around and eating the dead skin off my feet- Gross! Plus, I feel really bad for the fish. I'm sure that dead skin isn't a nutritious meal for them. I just find it really disgusting.
Due April 8th, 2009 with baby #1 | Jul 22, 2008
I think it's silly.. Really, very silly. BUT because it's the new hot thing, tons of people will flock and try it out, just to say they've done it. Sad really!
Chrystal | Jul 22, 2008
yes i've tried it like few months back. a 30min session. the fish love men's legs more cos there's dirt trapped in the leg hair. they also love scab [yuks] and scratch wounds.
as for how much wellness it provides, i find it's just mostly "theraputic" but costly for long run.
i've actually seen a guppy mistakenly swimming amongst the breed of "dirt eating fish" , and obviously that guppy wasnt interested in what the rest feed on.
give it a shot to get a feel of how it goes, the bigger fish the harder they bite so it can be more ticklish.
solid snake | Jul 22, 2008
that sounds interesting, and another way for a fool to part with his money. it would probably be unbearable for someone with ticklish feet....

What are your thoughts about guys getting manicures and pedicures?
Apr 12, 2007 by af1986 | Posted in Other - Beauty & Style
Voice your opinion about how you feel about guys getting a manicure (pedicure)? Is it to girly or gay? Does it make them (us) less of a man? What woman think about thier guys getting manicures or pedicures?
Its great, nice to see a man take care of himself. It shouldnt matter what people think when making decisions like this, b/c I know many women who love metrosexual men, and there are also many people out there who love "tough" guys. So do what you want, there will always be a hater and a "lover".
Jukebox | Apr 12, 2007
More men are doing it. I think it's okay. Plus if you are single, you can meet lots of girls!
Stephanie | Apr 12, 2007
if guys are gay than its fine with me but if their not then we have something to worry about... like this guy in long john silvers here in michigan had acrillic nails and i could tell he wasnt gay and it sort of freaked me out, but like i said if their gay its fine with me...
GizmoBaby | Apr 12, 2007
It's okay as long as they aren't painted!!! i hate holding a guy's hand who has nasty hands or nails.............i think it's ok
hottie with a body.....kiss me | Apr 12, 2007
I think its fine. It shows that a guy can take care of himself, and cares about himself enough. Paired with a lot of feminine qualities it could be treading on the gay side, but if you are a guy's guy for the most part, i see no problem in taking care of yourself and looking your best.
Mandi Jo | Apr 12, 2007
It says you care about your appearance which is wonderful. Men should look good for us too. But I must say, I draw the line at waxing major body parts. That is just too weird. lol
ili_31 | Apr 12, 2007
its no biggy my boyfriend does it every 2 weeks
bobbijo g | Apr 12, 2007
personaly i get my nails done every two weeks, and i love it, its healthy and keeps your hands nice.
i think its fine if a guy wants a manicure, just because he wants to take care of his hands and nails does not make him gay, or less of a man, its health and hygiene. nothing wrong with it,
sparklechic2010 | Apr 12, 2007
Manicures are okay I get them now and then. But men should never get pedicures it is against the laws of nature. Only women's feet should be adorned and worshipped!
Feetie | Apr 12, 2007
i dont c anything wrong when a man gets a manicure or padicure thats great that means if i wanna go get mine done i can go with hem 2 n thats good that some guys like to take care of their feet n hands
qt_510 | Apr 12, 2007
i think there gay
jjjgreene1 | Apr 12, 2007
I dont mind at all. I think its nice. I dont like it when guys wear nailpolish though so I hope they keep that part out.
chiara | Apr 12, 2007
i think all guys should do it!!! it shows that a man is conscientious about his appearance & wants to look good!!! women are expected to keep themselves up & look nice, & i think it should be the same for men!!! it`s not girly or gay, it`s COOL!!!
*atomickitty* | Apr 12, 2007
I don't think it's gay or girly.
I have tried to get my husband to go for a while. Would u rather have your nails or toenails looking like crap?
go get it done.
j.d | Apr 12, 2007
I can't stand it. I think a man's hands should be rugged and not like mine at all. I would be horrified if my man did that. What's next? Asking if it's ok to wear thongs and makeup?
Angie1030 | Apr 12, 2007
I don't really like how feminized men are becoming. Manicures, maybe, for professional men who want to appear neat and well-groomed in meetings, etc. But pedicures? I don't like men who are that into their looks. I want to be the pretty one in the relationship!
Ronnie | Apr 12, 2007
I think its gay*
INC0GNIT0 | Apr 12, 2007
Well, it depends on the guy. If they are totally homophobic then they wont get it done. In my opinion I don't think it's a big deal, honestly I would prefer a guy that takes care of himself than one who thinks grunge is just the way all men should be. My boyfriend and I are going to get facials this weekend... I don't think he's less of a man for that... I think that it shows that he cares about what people think of his appearance, and although everyone should always have down time where they can just throw on some sweats and a t-shirt and hang, I think that "clean is in" and a man will have more oportunities if he keeps up appearances. A mani/pedi is a good relaxing thing for anyone (just as long as the guy isn't getting polished, lol)!
i ♥ my bf | Apr 12, 2007
I was a nail technician for a few years and my flat mate was male at the time he always came into the shop and got manicures - quite funny actually because I worked from a hairdressing salon that many older ladies went to and one day I heard one of them say "OH MY GOD THATS A MAN!!" LOL we just laughed he couldnt care less what people thought he just liked the feeling and loved the hand and arm massage part of the manicure - personally I never did pedicures because I just cant stand the thought of touching other peoples feet LOL
I used to do falseys for transvestites as well - personally I dont care - if its what you want then thats what you get :)
Kazz | Apr 12, 2007
The actual For Him mani's and pedi's are great. Nothing like holding a rough hand, and nothing hurts more than a rough... you know...
I wouldn't consider it bad unless he painted his nails. Then we have an issue, but there is nothing wrong with a well groomed man. Plus its relaxing for you! So go for it. Try the mans deluxe sugar scrub ones, they are great.
nioctcrypt | Apr 12, 2007
It falls under the category of "grooming" . So what's the big deal? I know a guy that got in management and he started getting his eyebrows done. Of course, if you ever get into the military watch out. It would be considered weak and "weakness" will be exploited. ( I wouldn't worry about it, but, I wouldn't brag about it either)
Daddy | Apr 12, 2007
personally, i would think at first that man was gay. but i wouldn't really know because some male actors do that or they maybe just want to have healthy nails or something. and i don't think it makes them "un-manly", just a little wierd to me.
aoosh has answers! | Apr 12, 2007
i like when guys take care of themselves
angiee | Apr 12, 2007
i am OK with it. I would rather have a man with a girly pedicure/manicure, than having nasty ugly nails. You probably only need to have the nails buffed or put on a clear/matte polish that looks natural.
Lisa H | Apr 12, 2007
I am all for it. My boyfriend wont go near a nail salon due to the last time he went with me i talked him into getting tips put on as a joke. it was really funny until he realized that removing them was alot of work. but it was cute. Although if he would have enjoyed having them done that way i would have worried lol. But i think its ok if guys want to get a basic mani/pedi, as long as its not feminine.

How many get pedicures in the summer?
Jun 01, 2007 by Ashley A | Posted in Other - Beauty & Style
How many girls out there get regular pedicures in the summer? What do the techs do? how much are they?
I get pedicures all year round. They are wonderful!! The first massage your feet and use parrafin wax which softens your feet. Then they polish your toe nails if you want them too!! They run anywhere between 15 and 25.
kdhiggs05 | Jun 01, 2007
no i dont
carladettling | Jun 01, 2007
I get about 1 every 2 weeks. the tech i go to has a vibrating chair and a foot bath. They soak my feet in the bath and scrub my feet and make them soft.and then they fix my cuticals and at the end they paint them however you want. It costs me 20 dollars each time. It is definitly worth it. and the nail polish stays on and doesn't chip at all.
Amanda | Jun 01, 2007
In Austin everyone gets one at least once a month.
You sit in a relaxing chair with back and seat vibrator and tattered magazines while the tech fills the foot bath with warm water and salts. You soak one foot while the other one is pampered. Cuticles and nails are trimmed, callus removed, and then you get a massage with cream ($25) and then wrapped in a hot towel ($10 more). Then your nails are painted and little foam flip-flops and toe separators keep your nails perfect until dry.
ginger | Jun 01, 2007
I get a pedicure and I always get a design on my big toe.. It is similiar to anicure except that you get a foot massage :-) I usually pay anywhere from 30-35 dollars.

Is it dangerous to get acrylic nails? What about pedicures?
Oct 18, 2006 by lilbeccah | Posted in Other - Beauty & Style
I love to get acrylic nails and pedicures at the salon. But I have heard it can be harmful and dangerous. Is it true? Should I stop?
Well I personally say no, simlpy because I get them done all the time. I live for my French Manicures. However, I do have this cousin who had an allergic reaction to the materials that are used and she developed a servere fungus on her FINGERNAILS (GROSS, Huh?). Well, anyways this happened to her like years ago, when I was about 13 and I am 22 now, and unfortunately she still has it. I don't know why she never took care of it? But I guess if you get them done, and nothing happens to you, then you will learn to live by them, just like a million other girls. Besides, they look gorgeous.
butterflykisses03 | Oct 18, 2006
No i wont think so... the only bad thing would be the fumes.. but its not THAT bad... i watch my friends get them all the time.. there sooooooooo cute!
stephy09 | Oct 18, 2006
My wife has had them for decades. What's dangerous about it? And Pedicures? She gets them every two weeks and her feet and nails are beautiful.
littletvjunkie | Oct 18, 2006
The fumes can be dangerous if you are exposed to them EVERY day for several years. But the little bit you're exposed to when you get nails, naw.. nothing to worry about.
The only thing they do in the negative column is tear up your natural nails a bit. But, if you keep the acrylics up, there is nothing to worry about other than mold or fungus growing under them; however, that's in rare cases. Good nail ladies keep things sterile under your nails and completely seal them so stuff does not grow under them.
nmtgirl | Oct 18, 2006
I've heard of some horror stories @ the nail salons but if you choose one to go to that sanitizes their tools and equipment you should"nt worry.while your there make sure they spray there tools and sanitize them before they use them on you..Also pay attention to the way the clean up after each customer.
PecanTan | Oct 18, 2006
They are not dangerous, but when you get the nails taken off, make sure you get the soaked off professionally, or it will tear your nails. Pedicures are cool, i get them every chance I have
dannyguurl03 | Oct 18, 2006
People fail to realize that these products have to be approved by the FDA. So if they were dangerous and harmful, they wouldn't be allowed to put acrylic on people. Pedicures are relaxing, not dangerous at all.
neiat | Oct 18, 2006
it is possible to get infections if the instruments used are not cleaned and disinfected between customers; also, after you stop getting acrylic nails you can have permanent ridges in your nails if the nail bed was injured during the filing process
T P | Oct 18, 2006
I go to Florida every year on vacation,Me and my older sister always get acrylics done.Yeah they can damage your nails if you don't take care of them. When yo want to get them taken off,go to a nail bar and get them taken off professionally,After wards get nail strengthener because the acrylics softens up your nails
alex_babehy_x | Oct 18, 2006
i had acrylics last christmas and i got my nail caught on a loose string and it ripped my nail completely off. pedicures are great as long as you make sure that everything is sterile before they use it ESPECIALLY if they use the razor on the bottom of your foot.

How many men actually get pedicures?
Nov 24, 2008 by Pauly | Posted in Men's Health
I do get a pedicures on a regular basis, because I do have trouble trying to clip my own toe nails. At times they are not clipped properly, and hang-nails or on my toe nails, which is not good. One gal who I know never heard of men getting pedicures, and thought it was strange men getting pedicures; therefore, how many men do get pedicures. Please do not think I am strange, I like to know if many men do get pedicures.
I get pedicures monthly. My wife suggested I try it a couple years ago, and I got hooked. What's not to like about someone else clipping your nails, and giving you a nice foot and lower leg massage. Completely 100% straight here, and not metro either!
The girl I go to says she has 6-7 men that are regulars.

Is it ok for boys to wear polish on their toes andrecieve pedicures daily?
Apr 22, 2008 by Raevaun A | Posted in Makeup
My girlfriend and sisters always force me to wear Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Plus Nourishing Nail Color in clear color ever two weeks and in which they keep my toenails long and shiney and to wear red flip flops after pedicures.
It's only okay if you want to do it, not if you're forced.

do you have to have a license to perform pedicures?
Nov 09, 2008 by Heatherrose | Posted in Small Business
I am thinking about opening an Avon store and would like to offer pedicures and was wondering if you had to have a license.
If you have a beautician's license, you don't need an additional license specifically for the pedicures. If you don't have the beautician's license, you need to hire somebody who has one and have to operate under her/his license which would not be cool since you as a owner would be under the license of the employee.
