Nigeria: The Danger in Tattoos AllAfrica.com

A tattoo is a permanent mark or design made on the skin with pigments inserted through pricks into the skin's top layer. A tattoo artist uses a hand-held machine that acts much like a sewing machine, with one or more needles piercing the skin repeatedly.

With every puncture, the needles insert tiny ink droplets. The process which is done without anesthetics may last up to several hours and cause a small amount of bleeding and slight to potentially significant pain.

Tattooing is an art form that has been used for centuries by tribal societies in religious rites and as a natural part of life. At first banned and then appropriated by Western culture, tattoos have recently developed as a decorative art of self-expression; used by some to celebrate events, immortalise a departed loved one, or as a show of commitment to a life partner.

In the olden days, tattoo inks were made from natural materials, but many of today's tattoos contain an unknown dose of metallic salts (oxides, sulphides, selenides), organic dyes or plastics suspended in a carrier solution for consistency of application which pose a lot of risk to the skin.

recomend good permanent make up technician in London?

Anyone would recomend me a good permanent (or semi permanent) make up technician for eyebrows with competitive prices in any London areas?
hey thank you tefi, I know its something you have to really think about before doing it. but friends of mine did it (abroad) and results are really convicing. anyway thank you ill go over there as it's close to home, and maybe he can do something with my eyebrows (im desperate!) thanx again!

I can't recommend one, because everyone I know who has had them done (about 6 people) look like they have had the fright of their lives, and they are stuck with it for three years or more. All the ladies I know who had it done, really regretted it and said they would never have it done again. One of them is a highly acclaimed beautician herself. My mum was going to get it done, but thankfully I talked her out of it. For the price you would pay, you would be far better off going to a beauty salon and having a decend eyebrow shaping and dyeing, and have your eyelashes permed and dyed as well, it looks really, really good, totally natural and if you don't like it, the results only last a few months. I don't know where you live in London, but I can highly recommend Andre de Villiers Hair and Beauty salon, 9a Hogarth Place, London SW5. Tel: 0207-259-2590. They are just off the Earls Court Road, opposite Earls Court Tube station, spot Lloyd's bank and its on that side street there, just a few doors along.

It may be quite a way to go, but they are reasonably priced and a lovely, friendly salon in nice surroundings. Andre himself is the best hairdresser I have ever come accross, bar none and the beauty therapist there is amazing. Well worth a journey if you are not too far away. Hope this helps.

I think u slhd jst get ur eyebros lasesred! meaning the extra hair wont gorw so they look perfect. But i think one of the great things about make up is putting it on! so much fun. Having seen ppl with permanent make up , they dont look as fresh as ppl who hav put it on.

I live in Wakefield in Yorkshire so unfortunately I think it would be too far for you to travel. I had my lips tattooed at the Prestige Clinic in Wakefield. I am totally delighted with the results. Be warned it was very painfull even though I had a numbing cream applied. It cost me £400 but worth every penny!

How much is permanent make up?

Does anyone know approximately how much it costs to have permanent make up done? I was thinking of maybe getting eyeliner and/or blush depending on the cost.
I live in the London by the way, does anyone know of any good reputable places to get it done?

my aunt does permanent makeup and it depends where you get it. the prices range from about $200-$900 .My aunt charges :
Lips- $280
Eyebrows- $250
Eyeliner- $200

Guys and Girls, What do you think about permanent make-up?

My massage therapist told me the other day that she would like to get permanent make-up tattooed on her. Why would someone want to do that to their face? Wouldn't you get sick of looking exactly the same every day for the rest of your life?
Guys, what do you think of girls with permanemt make-up?
Ladies, what do you think of it?

i have a guy friend that had eyeliner tatooed on his eyelids and lower lashes.
it looks great and i guess no one will ever see you without your makeup... expecially yourself!!
haha

There are some days that it's just not appropriate to wear make up. Hiking for example. I'm really not into the whole permanent make up thing. Plus, that sounds painful

my sister in law has her lips tattood with permanent make up as a lip liner. I thinks it's awesome...but she should have got it a shade darker. If i had the money to do it, I would get permanent make up too.....but nothing too extreme, just my lips too since I hate lipstick (and so does my hubby lol)

Never in a million years would I do it, not even if "you" paid me!! Nothing permanent tattooed on my face EVER.....

my boyfriend is a crossdresser and i had his eyebrow, eyeliner and lipliner done on him. it looks so good. with the lipliner he has to wear lipstick all the time, maybe next christmas i will let him get permanent lipstick. permanent makeup does fade after time so you have to get touch ups

They do that! I saw a video on youtube but I didn't think it was permanent. Besides if it's just lipliner you would have to wear lipstick everyday I would get tired of wearing the same make-up everyday I like diversity.

i wouldnt get permanent make up because i would be sick of the same thing everyday and i would like to try different products once in a while

I have permanant eyebrows and I hate it because they were done wrong..but I KNOW I wouldnt have regreted it if it was done correctly. Some people cant tell its tattooed.

Hmm...I don't know. A lot of people before me seem to be kinda enthusiastic about this. But something that looks good on you now, may not after a few months, you know? Our skin and coloring constantly change from season to season and so getting permanent makeup done doesn't sound like such a good investment. Well, for me personally, makeup is all about having fun, trying out different colors and formulas, showing off what I have (lol), etc. etc. Being stuck in one look really wouldn't do much for my mood at all- I like trying out different looks everyday, or at least every week. And the actual process of applying makeup is fun too- I can do cat eye one day, a neutral eye the next, have really dramatic lashes, or look like girl next door. I don't think I'd be able to achieve that much versatility otherwise. And that's what it's really all about: versatility and change. That's why one season we have pencil thin eyebrows, whereas the next season there's thick brows everywhere. Dark lips might be for fall and winter, but people fight for the best nude lips in the summer...see what I mean? Getting permanent makeup almost sounds like getting stuck in a rut for a loooong while to come!

Hope this doesn't offend anyone just my personal opinion :)

I wouldn't cause the chances of infection o__O
but that Eyeliner on Amy Winehouse is permanet

Bad idea that's why yo change make-up. Because you get tired of the same look. Why do you think girls started using make-up

Where is the best place to train in semi-permanent make up?

Looking for training schools in London or Surrey. I have looked on the web but there is so many companies offering training, which is pretty costly, so i want to make sure i choose the right one.

I trained with LCN beauy concepts who were great, one to one training and after training too. It is based in near Brighton, but can come to your house or salon to train you. The trainer came to my salon. Good luck with everything and hope it goes well it is a satisify job to do.

when can I make a computer not start up without causing permanent damage?

I have some insurance problems, whereby they computer crashes and freezes but they won't have a good look at it except I was told if it didn't start up at all. So, can I cause it not to start up and get it to them to fix, without permanently damaging it or losing data, and wihout it being evident that I made it not start up?

thanks

This is hard to answer if you dont want it to be evident that you made it not start up. Hardware wise you could disconnect the cord from the power button to the motherboard. Software wise you could remove some files from the windows folder to make it where it wont start up the way it is supposed to. If you are going to do anything to it software wise you should make sure to back up any information that is on it right now on an exernal hard drive or flash drive.

Good luck!

Well, that would be fraud then wouldn't it?
What yr suggesting is that people aid yr criminal deceit in an open (and traceable) forum!

Why not try fixing it yrself and learn something about computers?

Here's a start:
Open Event Viewer (it's accessed from Control Panel and depending on whether you have XP or Vista can be opened from Performance and Maintenance or System and Maintenance. Navigate to Administrative Tools for both).
Open the System option and look for the red Error reports. If there are long screeds of errors around the time of yr crashes and freezes, then this will allow you to understand what's going on.
For example, you may have loads of disk errors - this is a symptom of a faulty hard drive and will result in crashes and freezes - exactly as you describe.

Perhaps get a friend/work colleague to have a look at it. Most computer enthusiasts froth at the mouth with glee at the prospect of fixing a computer!

:-)

Has anyone had permanent make up done on their upper lid as eye liner?

I am thinking of having this done, I have black eyelashes & of Indian origin & just wear black mascara or sometimes clear & wondered if this would look too harsh? & how permanent & safe is this?

Permanent-meaning forever. The problem is, its a tattoo, when you are 50 yrs old, how will it look then? as your eyes change with age, your tattoo wont. I wouldnt consider it seriously.

i wanna get it done eventually too(i'm only 15). It's just a tattoo, and apparently it's very safe. Dont get like a big thick line or anything, just a thin one. It'll never come off remember, so dont go too dramatic.

It's basically a tattoo on your eyelid, so if you don't like it, there's not much you can do about it. It tends to look very harsh and really takes the beauty out of your eyes. Especially with Indian girls, it can just crowd your face and make your eyes look to harsh. A light eyeliner on the bottom rim and on special occasions a thin stroke of liquid eyeliner on the top lid will give you a striking effect.

i have a friend who got it under her eye. ummm its expensive and u have to get it done 3 times for it to be effective. but then it only really lasts for a yr or so because its not that deep and it fades.
plus she said its an annoying feeling getting it done

apparently Amy winehouse has it, but i don't wear eyeliner but if you get it done make sure you get it done professionally not the cheapest place.

hi gal,

it is not advisable, as it will be very painful and ugly after a few years. i just dont like it, i only do eyebrow embroidery. eyebrow is more important as it will brighten up your look

how should put make up on your face to be permanent almost for 6 to 8 hours?

i mean about the facial skin, what is the priority of the materials that we should use in make up?which one first?pan cake or cream powder?

for make up tip visit this link

Well, actually, what really helps is to use a liquid base/foundation first then lightly go over it with a powder. I use the True Match liquid makeup and Bare Natural powder and it lasts ALL DAY. Plus you can also lightly spray your face with aerosol hairspair and it helps keep makeup in place. Good Luck Hon!

How do I make a permanent bend to my plastic eyeglass frame? What do I use to soften it up?

What hot solution or substance should the frame be dipped into before being bent into an adjusted shape? If it's not readily available, where do I get it? What's the professional optician's way?

place in hot tap water, for about a minute.
Along the length of the ear frame only
then gently bend, be careful, too much will cause it to break,
Then place in cold running tap water for a minute, to set while holding the shape

But for best results go back to where you got your glasses.

DO NOT use any open flame or direct heat source

how can i remove a permanent make up?

i have this dark permanent lipliner and i badly want to remove it. it's been 6 months since i have it, but barely is faded. please help?

Semi-permanent makeup is the brand new trend catching among women who want to save their time and vitality on doing make-up every day. The folks round us are so used to see us with our make-up on that when we don’t apply it, they can truly discover the difference. However typically, there are days when [...]
