Are salon/professional hair care products, facial products and makeup better than over the counter products?

Places like Walmart, Walgreens and grocery stores have a wide array of hair care, facial and makeup products. I wonder if salon/professional products are better quality than these over the counter products and if so, why. Or is there little or no difference between where you buy your products? Are salon/professional products just a scam to make money by claiming their products are higher quality or is there truth to their claim?

There's a difference.Thats why they're used in the salons cuz thats what ur paying for.If they used the same products, they would have to charge less.

The book you need to read is: Natural Beauty: Pamper Yourself With Salon Secrets at Home by Laura Dupriest. The author owns her own spa and salon, she was a model and instructs people on this every single day. You will be surprised when you read this book.

Some professional products are unbelieveably worse than some over-the-counter products! And you won't know which are good or bad until you try them. But I just stick with over-the-counter products... I think it's unnessecary to spend more money for something I could buy for cheap that just has a different label.

They are way better than walmart sure there more money but you only need a little bit but with the walmart stuff you use hand fulls and hand fulls so in the end walmart is wat more money with really bad results!

Professional hair salon in Lansing Michigan area?

It's finally time to go get my hair cut again, and I'm ready to get that much shorter hairstyle I've been afraid to get at the cheap salons I normally go to. I want to go to a professional salon where I don't have to hear "oops" or feel totally disappointed at the job the stylist did with my hair. If I get it cut as short as I want it, I wont have the option to go somewhere else and have them try to fix it. It doesn't have to be a real big upscale salon or anything just one with a younger crowd who know what the hell kind of haircut I want done. Any ideas?

sorry only know an awesome one in Commerce Twp MI.
My brother in law owns it and they're pretty fantastic.
If you want I can send him an email and ask him if he knows of any good ones in your area.

How much will I be expected to pay for this professional salon to highlight my hair?

The website said they charge haircoloring starting at $40 and highlighting starting at $85.
How much would I have to pay if I have really long hair and all over blonde highlights on d. brown hair??

How much should I tip? Would I have to tip more since its a high class professional salon/spa??
(the stylist i wanted to try is 2007's hair colorist of the yr in that city)

You will be looking at the high end of that and probably more since it is long... Colorist of the year or no there are alot of stylists who will do as good a job if not better( no big head and all) for alot less money. Tip 15 or 20 percent based on how happy you are with the result and the service.

I have long hair and its usually between $120-180 for highlights depending if you want full or partial. And i usually tip 20-30 % .

I pay approx $70-100 for highlights and my hair is above my ears. I'd say you might be looking at $150 to $200. I'd tip 20%...so if your highlights are $200...you tip $40

I have long thick hair! When I went to the professional salon she touched up my color and added more highlights. It was $275 for that. I really didn't think she did the best job ever. I liked it better when I went to Master Cuts and got their $19 7 foil highlights and a color. That was only with a full dye job too.

Who can suggest a really good professional black hair salon with adequate pricings???

Can I buy professional salon hair color online?

My best advice for you is that most of the prof. products sold online and in stores such as target, walgreens, ect. usually are out of date or irregular which means that there's no gaurantee that your hair will result in the color you want. I'm a hairstylist and I've seen some of the final results of this and it's not good. Also alot of prof. color lines need several color blended to produce the ending result that you want.

try ebay
they sell some i think

You should be able too. I will look for some good sites for you! I will e-mail them too you when i find them!

Good luck! =)

what would you do if you went to a professional salon to get your hair done and the color came out totally hor

i recently went to a professional salon to get my hair done, i only asked for highlights of a deep burgundy color since my hair is black and i didnt want anything too dramatic...well instead of the dark burgundy color my highlights came out bright fire red totally not what i wanted...so anyways im just wondering what anyone else would have done if your not happy with the results from a professional salon?

ask them to redo it. dont pay.
u can complain to health department.
