Michael Jackson's dermatologist Arnold Klein sued for fueling addiction OnTheRedCarpet.com

Klein's former assistant Jason Pfeiffer filed the lawsuit, which accuses Klein of fueling the singer's addiction by providing him with muscle relaxers and narcotics and getting him "too drugged up and disoriented to stand on his own," according to the legal papers obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com.

Pfeiffer said that he and Klein's own nurses were concerned that Jackson was being "overmedicated" by Klein and when he voiced his opinion, was told to "keep his mouth shut."

Pfeiffer stated in the legal documents that Michael Jackson asked for a doctor's note to "get out of a court appearance" in October 2008 and Klein issued a note claiming that the singer suffered from a Staph infection and fabricated a test.

There was also a claim made that Klein tried to give Jackson prescription muscle relaxers in 2009 by writing a prescription in Pfeiffer's name. The documents state that this was a common practice and Klein wrote prescriptions for amyl nitrate, Percocet, Cialis, Phentermine and Levitra in Pfeiffer's name, for his own consumption as well as for other patients.

The Truth ABOUT Hair Relaxers

Like I said before, this is not a damn Public Service Announcement and this is not me force feeding you anything. I searched for facts because I ...

Relaxers ...?

Ok first of all, I'm kind of tired of all the girls who are saying do not relax your hair and what not. First of all, most of us african american girls who have already started relaxing our hair since we were young can't just stop relaxing our hair. I tell you maybe it's just me but my hair would've been down to my boobs (im 14by the way) accept I cut it ALOT really short...and I do take good care of my hair when it's relaxed (I can only keep one in for about a week because my hair grows out so fast) . I just want to know what everyone who thinks people shouldn't get relaxers, what they're suggesting than to have the roots straight along with the ends... if that makes sense and still make it bouncy and stuff..
Nd yes I kno hot combs r good but to me they don't really work that well and also I think they hurt ALOT especialy because my scalp is superrrr sensitive to heat like that.

im not one of those people that believe that relaxers are bad. personally i love them and they make me feel great. my friend mom doesnt use relaxers but to maintain straight roots and ends she usually straightim it with a straightiner or use a hot comb. to make it bouncy she uses oil sheen, grease, and pink lotion.

-Hope i helped =)

personally i don't relax my hair anymore because it made my hair really brittle and it made it fall out. but if your hair can handle it, then go for it.to each their own.

I've been relaxing my hair since i was 11 but i've had trouble keeping up with my hair..the problem with having permed hair is that u have to keep it up and u have to avoid things like water and heat which can be annoying at times... I'm thinking about going natural but i'm afraid my hair won't look good that way but if u like straight hair and can keep up with it i see no problems with relaxed hair. You can also use texturizer if you want to use something less harmful than relaxer, it softens your hair and makes it less kinky, more like curly and its almost as easy to manage.

I relax mine....but I think the point is that natural hair is healthier than chemically treated hair (not just relaxers, but coloring the hair too).

Lots of us just don't know how to care for natural hair...a friend of mine has been natural for years...she found a stylist who knows what she's doing...and her hair is gorgeous!!

They have some relaxers that are chemical free now. They have one called xenna and I here you can pick it up at Walgreen's.I feel you about the relaxers though because once you start it like your hair is not manageable anymore.

How can I stop my relaxers from burning my sensitive scalp?

I have a sensitive scalp that burns whenever I get a relaxer. I use Motions Lye relaxer and other Lye relaxers that stylists use in my hair. Me not scratching doesn't help much nor does basing the scalp. When school starts back I would like to keep my hair done with my own hair with out the burning of relaxers. Right now I have micro braids and plan on keeping them in until the second week in August. Please Help Me And My Sensitive Scalp.
Thanks!
Please don't tell me about No Lye relaxers, I know I need to stop getting relaxers but without them my hair is long, thick and has a tight curl thats nappy...so no more about going natural thats hard to do anyway I am a teen and besides I cant't get a wrap and anything else with my hair without having a relaxer or pressing it everytime it gets wet.

I hear ya! I too do my own hair, Elasta QP seems to be the best relaxer that has not burned me at all. Second choice, Dr. Miracle's (not worth the money when it comes to touch-ups. It only has one application.), third choice is Profectiv.

But to do what we call 'bump' your scalp, you need to use either hair grease or vaseline. I prefer the Softee hair grease because one, it's easy to apply, and secondly it's very inexpensive (Walgreen's for $1)
Just put a thin coat to your scalp, try not to get it on the hair that you are going to put the relaxer on, and you should be all set.

Let me know how that goes & good luck!!

u should use a protective cream that comes with the relaxers or if not, use vaseline on the scalp b4 u apply relaxer.
dont keep the relaxer 4 longer than the suggested time

Try Gentle Treatment or Soft & Beautiful Relaxers

You should ask a beauty stylist or pro because i don't see anybody answering your question since hours...i suggest not using relaxers anymore. i know i look white, but i'm hispanic...just to let you know.

hope this helps
alana:)

how about you try not perming your hair anymore and just go natural! You wont have to go thru the burning scalp nor the sores afterwards. Plus.....natural hair is healthier for you hair!!

you should get the mildest relaxer on the market or go for a sensitive scalp relaxer. dont be afraid to try a kids relaxer. also you need to use a no lye mix.

I've got a pretty sensitive scalp, too.
Tell your stylist beforehand, or if you're doing it at home, (Which I don't reccommend) get a very, very weak one, like Just for Me. Also, use one with NO lye. They're much safer.

When you take out those micro braids, be SURE to wait at least three days with your hair loose before getting a relaxer.

I also have a sensitive scalp with extremly course hair. Recently, I moved to Hawaii and started going to a professional. I told her that I burned easily, and she said "I have just the thing for you". She used Affirm Relaxer for sensitive scalp and it did not burn one bit. I actually was able to keep the relaxer in for the recommended time frame with out screaming and crying. Just ask your stylist if they can order a relaxer for sensitive scalp. Another thing you can do, if your stylist is unable to order the sensitive scalp relaxer, is to ask your stylist to apply the relaxer to your sensitive areas last. I hope this helps you.

I would recomend gentle treatment, or Elatsa gp.

What brands of relaxers and chemical straighteners?

I am trying to find what brands of relaxers and chemical straighteners work best.

I currently use Optimum Anti-breakage relaxer in super, One 'n' Only Curl remover in chemical treated formula (2X), One 'n' Only Frizz remover.

These products work I have resently stopped coloring my hair and it seems to be more crazy then ever.
By the way, Chi products do not work on my hair. The flat irons have to be run over my hair three to four times.
My flat iron heats to 450 degrees F (which is more than 230 C)
Its an FHI flat iron.

Iron it out!

CHI

I use optimum-no lye regular and i texlax/texturize my hair it works fine for me.
my flatiron is babybliss pro it heats up to 230 celsius and has ceramic plates.

never use super, that will damage your hair even if you are caucassion, you should not use super on your hair neither, go to a beauty supply store or the black hair care section of the grocery or walmary and by olive oil relaxer, or mizani those are very healthy relaxers for hair and they straighten amazingly..hmmm think i will go get an olive oil relaxer now..or you might just want to go to a black beautician and have her/him put a relaxer in your hair...they will do it.

Try using either Dr. Miracles Relaxer
Revlon Realistic Relaxer

i use optimum care the coarse to resistant one
i use babyliss stratightner it only goes up to like 210 degress but its cool cos i dont use the highest setting

Try the (Opti-smooth by matix system we use it here in our salon, works great you will probly need the resistant one also get some (Goldwell Flat marvel flating gel youll be amazed.

How much do professional relaxers cost?

I was thinking about getting a relaxer. I'm half Black and half Philippine. My hair very puffy. I've straightened out with a flat iron and a hot comb before and I liked the results. So I want something permanent. This would be the first time getting a relaxer. I would try one of those home relaxers, but my mom is Philippine and she wouldn't know how to do it. Thanks in advance!

Call around to different salons in your area to get the costs. They are usually around $50 each month! I've tried putting a little bit of olive oil in my hair after shampoo/conditioning it. I let it dry out, then I divide my hair into four sections. Next I use a ceramic flat iron in very thin layers at a time. This usually makes my nappy hair straight for like two weeks or until the next wash.

A virgin relaxer is about 70 to 80 dollars you better go to a black Solon, Ask the stylist first for her opinion you might not even need a relaxer.

Actually, I had really puffy, curly hair and had planned to get a relaxer, but the woman recommended a permanent straightner, so I went with that instead. The amount the treatment costs ranges with the length of your hair. Because mine was so long, it wounded up costing us about $300, but believe me it was definitely worth it.

How long do muscle relaxers stay in your system?

I took like 9 muscle relaxers last night like flexiral and delattas and i dont have another drop until at least monday. How much water should i drink to flush out my system and is going to the sauna helpful when trying to detox.

Depends on the strength of the medicine, number of doses, time between doses.
Don`t know why you would take "9" in one night, plus another medication, but a Dr is just a phone call away......
(or the ER, whichever you can do first...)

How come relaxers no longer make my hair straight?

I have been getting relaxers in my hair since I was 8 years old. I noticed that for the past couple of years my hair has not been getting as straight as it use to. My hair dresser even put a relaxer in my hair and didn't get it bone straight either. She said that the texture of my hair has changed and it is curly instead of kinky. Is there a difference? What other options are there to straighten my hair and keeping it healthy?

Maybe you should try a diffrent strenght or maybe go to the egyptians they make your hair really straight, but they use lots of heat so long as you maintain your hair after it is done you hair wil be healthy, or maybe you might have to change the brand like still could use just for me but now i have to get adults perm, i hope i helped

i'm not sure if there is a difference between curly/ kinky. But another option would be to chemically straighten your hair, although that would take out the volume. so if you have a lot of hair and don't mind a lil flatness than that would be the way to go.

I read where bananas act as natural muscle relaxers. Are there any other foods?

Every couple of years the muscles in my upper back and neck go into spasms and I'm in pain for weeks. Are there any other foods that act as anti spasmodics or relaxers? I haven't any health insurance to see a professional and herbal remedies at the pharmacy or health food stores are out of my price range. Can anyone help?

Muscle spasms/cramps are invariably linked to an electrolyte imbalance, the electrolytes being: potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. So an imbalance in any one or more of these could cause muscles to spasm or cramp. Magnesium in particular has been shown to help relieve cramps and spasms, and calcium has been used with some success also.

The best thing for you to try apart from eating bananas for potassium (they are rich in this electrolyte, as is apple cider vinegar) is a calcium/magnesium combination tablet (2:1 ratio). This could be in the form of natural dolomite or another more easily digestible form, such as the citrate if you can find this.

Dolomite is generally fairly cheap to purchase. Apart from this you could try a small amount of epsom salts dissolved in water first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Epsom salts in the bath can also help. Epsom salts is a cheap form of magnesium (magnesium sulphate) obtainable from the pharmacy and the sulphate compenent of the salts is also good for health - for the skin and hair and also for the joints if there is any arthritic pain or stiffness.

In a clinical study, 500 mg of magnesium gluconate relieved muscle spasms (within a few days) in an adult female tennis player who was complaining about having muscle spasms associated with prolonged outdoor exercise --- see the article:
'Magnesium: The Multi-Purpose Mineral'
http://www.thinkmuscle.com/articles/jalali/magnesium.htm
Plus also read this brief abstract:
'Randomised, cross-over, placebo controlled trial of magnesium citrate in the treatment of chronic persistent leg cramps.'

Hope this helps.
Best wishes.

I haven't heard of that. I'm sure eating a healthy diet would help, but I doubt food will magically help your muscles. Ideally, you need to see a chiropractor and a massage therapist. You may be misaligned, and misalignments cause muscle spasms. Also, what do you do for work or are you in school? What you need to do is this:

1) Always sit up straight, keeping your shoulders back and your chest out. Have good posture.
2) For tight muslces, use heat. Or alternate heat and cold, which helps release muscle spasms (just be sure to start and end with the heat - and moist heat works better). Also, hot baths helps to release muscle toxins (or a sauna).
3) Lay on your back for at least 15 minutes a day with a rolled towel under your neck.

Is it true that relaxers in a box break your hair off more than salons?

When I got my hair braided at a salon the stylists assistant told me the box relaxers break your hair off. So is that true at all or was she just trying to get me to come in there more?

It depends on how you place it on your hair. I think she is just trying to get you in there more. Cuz if a box relaxer is done right, your hair shouldn't break off.

How much would those Japanese Relaxers cost?

How much would those Japanese relaxers cost? And what's a good brand I should request at the salon? Also, is it harsh or extremely strong?

What is the best cure for severe lowere back spasms besides muscle relaxers and pain pills?

This is the fourth time in 5 months that my husband has had a severe lowere back spasm that appears suddenly and lasts about 3-7 days. He is on pain pills, muscle relaxers and has tried different stretching exercises. He has an office job which may or may not cause it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

have your husband take a hot bath with 2c. of dissolved Epsom salts. Soak for 30 minutes. The Epsom salts will help eliminate the lactic acid that forms on the muscles from over exertion and muscle spasms

Massage an analgesic cream into the sore muscles after the bath. I find the best cream for pain is “Blue Emu,” You can read more about this cream at http://www.blue-emu.com/

Dehydration can cause severe pain in the muscles. I recommend you drink purified water mixed with mineral water 50/50. This will replace the minerals that are exiting your body continuously.

I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day. Realize that exercise, ambient temperature, and state of health affect the water needs of your body. 500mg of calcium and magnesium can help with the pain.

I recommend your husband see a chiropractor. I've never found any doctor to help this quickly with back pain as a chiropractor. I've enclosed a link where you can find one in your area.

I've also enclosed a link on exercises that can be done at the desk. This will help the back. Your husband probably needs to use a back support in his office chair and car. Chiropractors usually have these in stock.

5 Tips for Stretching Between Relaxers

Stretching between relaxers has several advantages to the person who does it. The chief reason is that stretching gives a clear line of demarcation between the new growth and the relaxed part of the hair; this lessens the occurrence of over-lapping or relaxing an already relaxed part of the head. There is also the added benefit of the hair growing in thicker and stronger than before. Hence, stretching between relaxers is something than can be considered if you want a healthier head of hair in the long run. Here are five tips that will help you in your quest to stretch between relaxers.

1.      Embrace your new growth- Your new growth is to be cultivated like a finely blooming flower; it is not a bad thing to have two different textures at the same time, think of the long term benefits of stretching- such as thicker hair when you finally relax or the fact that you will have less breakage over time when your line of demarcation is clearly seen by your stylist. Embrace the new growth and nurture it.

2.      Moisturize your hair like never before- the truth is the more post relaxer you are the more moisture is needed for both your hair types, especially at the demarcation line. This area especially should be moisturized daily. There are a variety of ways that you can moisturize this area: condition wash every other day, do not use shampoos with sulfate to wash hair during your stretching time this can dry the hair and cause breakage, deep condition with a moisturizing conditioner every week and use a moisturizer every day. After moisturizing remember to seal in moisture with a natural oil, the very best oil to use as a sealer while stretching is castor oil, though this is debatable, it seems to be the preferred choice among persons who are known for long stretches.

3.      After moisturizing thoroughly every week, you will need to do a strand test to see if your hair needs added protein. This strand test includes, getting a wet piece of hair from your comb or that has naturally come out of your head and pull both ends, if the hair is very elastic, which means you pull and pull and it stretches like an elastic band, then protein is needed. Protein cannot be overlooked in hair care and is very useful for hair strength. If your hair needs protein, add light-weight proteins to your regimen, every two weeks or so. Light- weight protein includes products like: ORS Hair Mayonnaise, Motions CPR or you can add eggs or yogurt to your moisturizing conditioner.
