Have a fairy tale weekend in Bath gethampshire.co.uk

TUCKED away deep in the Wiltshire countryside, Castle Combe is possibly one of the most picturesque settings in the country.

The vista along the narrow lane that winds its way down to the valley in which the village sits is quite simply picture postcard perfect.

There have been no new houses built in the village since 1617, making this hidden gem feel as though it has been frozen in time.

To the enchantment of Castle Combe, the Manor House Hotel and Golf Club lends an extra fairy tale dimension.

The approach to the hotel is no less impressive than that of the village – a sweeping driveway leads you across the River Bybrook over an iron bridge, towards the spacious lawns and imposing facade of the manor itself.

With its castle-like chimneys and creeper-covered walls, you almost expect to see Rupunzel’s hair come cascading down from one of the mullioned windows.

Inside, the history of this quintessentially English Manor House really comes alive. A scroll showing the heraldic lineage of the families, who have owned the manor from the Norman Conquest until 1947, when it became a hotel, hangs in the front hall, while an 18th century frieze in the Shakespeare Room commemorates the Shakespearian character Falstaff, who is believed to have been based on the Lord of the Manor of that period – Sir John Fastold.

What is the polarity and voltage of a Homedics Shiatsu Messager?

I lost the power supply for my Homedics Shiatsu Messager WITHOUT Heat (SBM-200). The voltage and polarity of the messager is not listed on it. If I knew this information, then I could buy a generic power supply and use it. My guess is this information might be listed on the actual power supply if you have one. Thanks!

Here is their link http://homedics.com

And they are GREAT aren't they. I wouldn't sell mine for $500.

What is the best "Shiatsu" neck massager on the market?

Ohhhhh, I need a massage so bad! My troubles would be over if only I could have a daily massage. Do any of you own a TRULY good home shiatsu massager?
There are several models, which would you recommend?

Homedics. They sell them at WalMart, Walgreens, anywhere

It's wonderful

superstores.com $98
WalMart in some areas 50% right now. $49.99
Neck version is on clearance at WalMart for $20

What should I wear to the spa tomorrow for my Swedish/Shiatsu massage?

I'm going to Burke Williams for Swedish/Shiatsu massage combo.

I love both, but it's making my apparrel choice difficult.

I've had shiatsu, but I was always fully clothed. It be weird to do all those stretches nakey! But it doesn't seem possible to be clothed for Swedish massage, since they lotion you up!

Anyone had this treatment before?

Before your appointment call them and ask what they recommend. They are the professionals. They should be more than able to tell you what they think is the most reasonable/comfortable.

just wear a loose shirt and sweats and tennis shoes.

no1 cares what ur wearing..its just a spa!

but maybe bring in new clothes for after ur treatment so when u walk out u look totally exfoliated and like ur body is new.

Yes I've had this treatment. They honestly don't care and it doesn't really matter. I would not suggest a Prom dress, more like pants, shirt, and tennis shoes. Have fun, you'll love it.

nothing wear absulotely nothing all right giggity giggity

Where can I find some training article about Shiatsu?

have already been familiar with Shiatsu (ancient Chinese medicine- massage therapy) and because I have not access to any of these training institutes, and even any published article, I would like to find about it in the net. Some kind of online training or free e-book.

you can check out massage websites like amta (www.amtamassage.org) or www.massagemagazine.com

www.qi-journal.com is a pretty extensive site for tcm ..just found this site so i haven't checked it out too much.

What's the difference between accupressure and shiatsu massage?

Since they're based on the same system (Oriental Medicine) how different can they be?

one sounds like a weather station and the other sounds like something done in a bathroom after eating sushi.

"Acupressure/Shiatsu - An ancient Chinese method of finger pressure along the meridians or channels of the body. Pressure is applied - and may be sustained - to acupuncture points in order to release excess Chi or to bring energy to certain areas of the body. This is a blend of bodywork and energy work. *Acupressure vs. Shiatsu - Shiatsu is typically done on a mat (clothing on) and incorporates stretching, palm pressure and exercises."

In addition to sungazer84's comment:

Acupressure is usually done to a specific area(s) to relieve a specific ailment.
Shiatsu Massage typically works on pressure points but is done to the whole body along the different channels.

What does the Shiatsu massage focus on?

I bought my mom a 200 dollar massage gift certificate. She wants mostly her back. What does Shiatsu focus on mostly?

Shiatsu is the use of the fingers and hands to apply pressure to specific points on the body. These massages are performed fully clothed and often on a mat on the floor. Usually the goal is to balance the body as a whole with focus on specific problem areas.

If your mom is looking for a full body massage with deep focus on her back, she may want to look at a Swedish Massage based treatment. This kind of massage is more like what you see represented on tv or in photos of "massage".

Since massage is such an individual therapy, it can vary from one practioner to another. What one may call "Shiatsu" may be the genuine Japanese form, or it may be a westernized Shiatsu-based treatment. There really is no "wrong" way to massage, but it's easier to choose your treatment when you know exactly what to expect.

One of the absolute best ways to pick a massage is to speak with the practioner. Have your mom call the business you got the certificate to and just explain that she's trying to choose a treatment. All she needs to do is describe that she'd like a massage with a great deal of focus on her back. The business will be able to explain the treatment options and help her choose her favorite.

I have no idea but I could probably use one right now =(

Is it common for guys to become erect while getting a shiatsu massage?

I got a shiatsu massage, and towards the end, when she told me to flip over, I got a major erection. I was kind of embarrassed becuase there were other people in the room. Is it common for guys to get a erection during a massage? Not one of those washy massage parlors.

Not surprising, if you were lying on "junior" to begin with, and enjoying the sensual experience of the massage. Turning over would release your appendage and the stimulation could easily be mistaken by your "automatic" brain as sexual. Best just to laugh it off. It probably happens all the time, and the masseuse would be used to it.

Very common. Especially young men. Don't worry about it.

What is the difference between a Thai massage and a Shiatsu massage?

I understand that one is from Thailand and one is from Japan, but what are the essential differences? And which one will be better for removing tension from my upper back and neck?

While both types of massage are done on a mat lying on the floor, Shiatsu works the meridian points through accupressure. Thai works the body through yoga poses. Like art, everyone has their preferences. You really must try them ALL out to determine which massage is the most beneficial to you. There are over 250 different types of body work, all of which claim to relieve stress and tension everywhere.

Happy hunting!

what is the best shiatsu massage cushion?

I want to buy a good quality shiatsue massage chair cushion but I'm confused by the different ones. Homemedic seems to have many. I am looking to not spend more than $120.00 or close to that.

In what year did American massage therapists start performing Shiatsu massage?

Do you mean generally among all massage therapist in this country, or the first person ever to perform it? If I had to guess, I'd say back in the early '70's.
