Donald Trump eyes Washington DC for luxury hotel USA Today

Donald Trump may no longer be chasing the White House, but the Washington Post says he's now chasing another historic Washington D.C. building for a luxury hotel plan .

According to the Post's story published Sunday, the Trump Hotel Collection subsidiary recently submitted a proposal to the federal General Services Administration to convert the historic Old Post Office Pavilion on Pennsylvania Avenue into a luxury hotel and spa.

FIND YOUR PERFECT HOTEL:   Google rolls out its new 'Hotel Finder' tool

Trump's hotels typically include high-end condominiums, but the story doesn't mention whether this proposal would include residences. Ivanka Trump confirmed the firm submitted a plan, but she declined to cite any details, the Post says.

Where to go for a spa retreat in Washington DC or Nothern VA?

Tired moms need a night away from the kids. We're looking for a nice hotel with a spa. (Might consider a nice day spa if a hotel is very close). We're willing to go anywhere within 2 hours of DC. Any suggestions?

Berkeley Springs, WV has many spas catering to the needs of mothers who need time away from kids. Beautiful town - less than 2 hours away from DC metro area. I should have stopped at a spa like the Five Senses Spa when I passed through there back in 2005.

Turf Valley Resort and Spa is about 40 minutes from D.C. I've also heard Villa Bella Vista Inn is amazing and they have a ladies' night package. It's not really a spa though.

Check out spafinder.com

I've used it when looking for a spa in NOVA -- will use it again.

The Capitol Hilton is a great hotel with a spa.

If you're going to do a day thing - Andre Chreky's is fantastic.

They're both on K Street, NW

Villa Bella Vista Inn is actually NOT a Spa but a bed and breakfast. you can go to the current website:

The price is kinda spendy

Any opinions on Synergy Day Spa in Washington, DC?

What do you think about Hotel Helix in Washington Dc?

Has anyone ever used there in-room spa service for a massage?

i visited washington d.c a few months ago and i personally think the helix is a very nice place to stay. and yes i did use their in-room spa service for a massage it was very relaxing:)
but keep in mind it's a bit costy...

We've given it away at my office as a gift and people rave about it! Unfortunately I have never been : (

I have three days in Washington DC with my best friend. What should we do?

What are the best tourist sites? What are the best seafood and sushi restaurants? What clubs are best for women in their late 30s to go to is they want to hear jazzy music but don't want to be hit on?
What is a good upscale day spa?

I can answer some, but not all, of these questions. On tourist sites, if you are heading out this week, absolutely go see the Cherry Blossoms. They have been at their peak in the last week or so. That puts you right at the National Mall anyway, so you can check out the rest of the scene there (the monuments, Smithsonian museums, etc.). Other fun touristy areas: Dupont Circle, Georgetown.

As for best seafood, Kinkead's (Foggy Bottom area) is a long-established, well known and very popular place for some incredible seafood-IMHO it's the best place in town for seafood. D.C. Coast (downtown) also usually comes recommended.

For sushi, Sushi Taro in Dupont is fantastic (and conveniently puts you near the heart of Dupont Circle, also a great place to explore)-don't be scared away by the less than stellar outside. It's quite nice inside, and the sushi is great. Popular other choices (always on the Wash Post food critic's list) are Sushi Ko (way up in Georgetown, so good if you want a really long walk through G-town or a short cab ride!) and Kaz Sushi Bistro (downtown).

Not too familiar with clubs, but I've heard 18th Street Lounge in Dupont (is that still open?) was always a cool, low-key spot for jazzy music. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

go to the mall not a mall the mall look at all the monuments and good food is in china town

Are there places to rent a hot tub by the hour in Washington DC?

looking for the kind of place that has private hot tub rooms to rent for a couple hours, but not a fancy spa

/ You could try Elizabeth Arden, but never heard of any place specializing in hot tub rentals.

Do all salons generally offer sugar waxing?

Does anyone know of a salon or spa in the Washington DC area that specializes in, or at least offers sugar waxing hair removal? Do all salons generally speaking or just a select few?

I think they all do.

Spa for the pregnant?

Not really sure if this is the right area for this question, but I was just wondering if anyone knows of a Day Spa in the Northern VA / Washington DC area that deals more with pregnant women and you would recommend?

I have a friend who is almost 7 months and I am trying to find something for her to do and relax for a change. I am also not sure if a women would be in the mood to do a spa day while 7 months plus. Just looking for something to surprise her with.

I am 7 months pregnant so I feel that I can at least answer half of your question with confidence. She would LOVE a spa trip. I know I would. So very many aches and pains all over the body at this point. lol. Now the second part, I am pretty sure (you might just want to call around to local spas and ask) that most have a "moomy-to-be" package. You are so nice to do something like this for her! Hope this helped a bit :) Have a great day.

Which hotel is best for vacay in DC?

I will be heading to DC this Thursday with my boyfriend. Im in charge of picking the hotel this time (lucky me!) and cant seem to make up my mind at all. Here's what I've come up with as of this morning...

Hotel Palomar Arlington- Like 2 blocks from the cemetery, and apparently you can walk over a bridge there that brings you back to DC (we have a car thought) Its right on the Potomac River. Heres the options for this hotel...

-Romance Package: Includes strawberries & champagne in the room upon arrival, $100 for the italian resturaunt on site, an in-room movie, & the King Waterview Deluxe Suite that has wall to wall windows of the Potomac River, a living room with a telescope, a shower and separate Fuji soaking tub (which looks small from the pictures) with specialty robes. <-$459

-No Package- King room with views of the Potomac River, specialty robes, evening wine reception, & complimentery breakfast<- between $259-$324 (government rate since he's military. Im just trying to figure out if hes "federal govt, state govt or just regular govt...not too sure which it's considered)

- No Package- Deluxe King Waterview Suite-Same suite as in the Romance Package, jsut without the extras (strawberries, movie, food etc) <-$359

OR-

*Hotel Palomar Washington DC- Its about a 2 miles from the White House, 2 blocks from Dupoint Circle. Again we a car so we can drive wherever. Its rated the #4 top hotel to stay at in DC on Tripadvisor, has really amazing reviews where the Arlingotn one is kinda ehhh. Has a complimentary wine hour in the evening.

-Spa King Room with 1 King Bed
Room is approximately 570 square feet with a seating area with a sofa. Room features a spa jet tub for 2 with a separate shower, flat screen TV, DVD player, L'Occitane amenities and a gourmet honor bar. Room is Non-Smoking <--$271

I'm trying to find out which is in a better area, if anyone has stayed at either. Also, trying to get more bang for my buck, while the wall to wall waterview room sounds quite nice, the prices is up there a bit for my liking. The one in DC is obviously less, and that money could be used for extras (like the champagne/strawberries through the concierge) but it doesn't have a view at all. Do yall think the view will be that worth it? Or should i go with the one without a view, but with better reviews?
