Disney branches out with 1st Hawaiian resort AZ Central.com

"It's the first time I've actually opened one of our properties without shoes on."

There are a lot of firsts for Disney at the 840-room Aulani on the western side of Oahu, the Hawaiian island home to tourist favorite Honolulu.

It is the company's first resort and first travel venture in Hawaii. It's the first Disney project to open with both hotel rooms and time-share units. Most significantly, Aulani is the only Disney resort of its kind that's not on the grounds of a Disney theme park such as Disneyland or Walt Disney World. They are visitor magnets that fill hotel rooms year-round, with guests from around the world.

Why stray from a proven formula, in a destination studded with beachfront resorts duking it out for visitors' vacation dollars?

"One of the great reasons to do a project like Aulani is to allow people to explore Disney in a different way," said Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, the $10.7 billion (sales) division of the media and entertainment conglomerate.

What's the best resort for a "spa" vacation?

The Paradisus Punta Cana;)

try BINTAN ISLAND in Batam (Indonesia)

Well I live in Costa Rica and own a spa, there are several spa resorts here - I would suggest looking into them----

Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas
I moved there for a couple of years and this town attracts a lot of tourists. It not only has Bath house Row (numerous spas and bath houses) but also it's surrounded by mountains and has 7 lakes with resorts on them. It is a very beautiful place and I loved living there. People come from miles around to visit there.
It even has a fountain downtown where you can drink fresh spring water. People fill jugs to take home of free mountain spring water.

I suppose that would depend on your particular definition of a "spa" vacation. Some basic questions come to mind right away(I am Owner of a Travel Agency):

1-You say "best resort". There's lots of definitions for what a "best resort" is. What amenities are most important to you at a Spa Resort?

2-Do you have a geographical preference as to where the Spa should be located?

3-Do you have a maximum per night rate you're willing to pay? Are you open to Spa Resort "packages"?

4-Going alone, or with others?(Important as it will affect the cost overall) Do you have an estimated departure date in mind?

Keep in mind again that there are lots of definitions for a "best resort". When travellers recommend a Resort, they base their recommendation on their experiences AND their preferences, which may or may not mirror yours. And at the end of the day, it is YOUR vacation, not theirs. But the above issues once figured out will really simplify the type and location of Spa Resort that you're looking for. If you could kindly either call, email me at: indysteve1563@yahoo.com, or reach me through Yahoo Messenger with your criteria, we can see what Spa Resorts are available in your proposed timetable that will satisfy your wants and needs and are pocketbook-friendly.

There are lots in Arizona if you want to stay in the US!

Can anyone recommend a resort spa in Europe that is on the beach?

Looking to take a spa vacation that allows one to relax on a beautiful beach (perhaps Italy/South of France/Spain) as well as integrate treatments and over all well being treatments/courses?

Your dream-come-true holiday spa:

Enjoy!

I went to one called the Hotel Beatrix Palace and Spa in Fuengirilla in Costa del Sol, Spain. It was beautiful. Beautiful Beach and right beside a small Castle. The Spa was very nice, I just had a facial but it was wonderful.

What would be a great spa or resort for a single gal to go on vacation?

I'm making prelimary plans to take a much-needed vacation, after spending the last four years taking care of my ill mother. I have had basically no life and no break since before then - not much time for dating either, so no boyfriend either! I want to go somewhere like a Spa-like place or fantastic beach resort, but I will be alone and don't want to feel like a loser. Does anyone know of any places in the U.S. where other singles go on vacation, just to have a break by themselves? I'm thinking, sitting by a beach, getting lots of massages and just getting pampered. East Coast is preferable - I live in NYC but don't want to be on a plane for 12 hours either. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

California go to compton
or oakland u should visit me bro!

For all that, plus not getting bored with one view, take a cruise.

Take a "singles" cruise. They have cruises that are specifically for singles. I have never been on one (because I'm married) but I have several friends, both male and female, who have gone on them and had an absolutely fantastic time.
Here is a website:

If you want a spa I would suggest the Sedona Spa:

Have fun whatever you wind up doing!

Who is paying for the annual retreat to the Kingsmill Resort & Spa?

Obama, speaking to about 200 House Democrats at their annual retreat at the Kingsmill Resort and Spa, dismissed Republican attacks against the massive spending in the stimulus. Plus their families! Nice place to vacation!
Taxpayers fund transportation and other costs for the Democrats’ annual “issues conference.” Last year, the Democratic Caucus paid Amtrak nearly $70,000 for the slow train members took down to Kingsmill, according to quarterly office reports. The office paid similar amounts for travel in 2007 and 2006. Other costs from last year’s retreat include $5,716 for an official photographer and $40,650 for telephones and Internet, according to the same records.

Members are encouraged to bring their families every year in an effort to get lawmakers get better acquainted. One hundred eleven spouses made the trip to the Republicans’ retreat this year. Family members can participate in the sessions or enjoy a vast menu of other activities which included skiing and sledding at last week’s GOP retreat.

http://mobile.politico.com/story.cfm?id=18408&cat=topnews

They pay for their own lodging, we pay for their travel to and from....just as we pay for the Republican retreat each year. I have seen NO sources say that family members are invited to the retreat...as it is a work retreat. But either way, both Republicans and Democrats do this retreat yearly and we pay for the travel for both parties.

Why did the AIG High level Executive's go to a Spa Resort after being bailed out by tax payers?

Are we paying for vacation's people getting some massages and expensive 400,000$ spa's

what is our government doing to put these aig people who mishandled the money they are supposed to buy loans not get vacation's after going bankrupt they should have been fired before

They didn't, it wasn't an executive retreat, it was an incentive trip for their external sales force.

They're republicans.
That's what they do.

because they have balls as big as watermelons.

Because they know they can get away with it. I say, String them UP!

Well for the record it was not high level executives. It was consultants.

But yes it does look bad.

But now what , is the government & the people going to run AIG??

The bailout was not meant to help the average American it was meant to help out the companies.

This just outrages me! to no end

what is our government doing to put these aig people who mishandled the money? They are giving them 37.5 Billion more

Just remember every Congress person that voted Yes to the Sellout Bill and vote against them!

If somebody reached you multibillions dollars, wouldn't you celebrate?

Let them pay it for themselves just like regular people do.

If we need to recharge then we take care of it ourselves. How can that be a business expense? Our tax system is pathetic if that's a business expense. It's unethical. It is bogus. Why should I pay for some rich jerk's recharging when I can't afford it myself? I would rather pay for someone that needs healthcare but doesn't have it because they have too much but still can't afford it because getting medical care is prohibitively expensive.

edit: Incentive trip? That is even worse. Do your job, what you were hired to do. Give me a break. Sales people are lazy.

Yeah, it sure shows you who they care about and that they are totally into themselves and having a good time and screw anybody else.

It was definitely an act of defiance and out rage. What about the poor people who were their victims?

The Justice Department, the Treasury Dept, the Secret Service, the SEC, the US attorney general the FBI and, quite possibly, INTERPOL have all launched investigations already. Don't worry. There will be prosecutions. They will come during the next administration, who will get the credit, no matter who is elected but, it really doesn't matter.
There will be plenty of white collar criminals and scape goats in prison.
All the dopey politicians like Chris Dodd and Barney Frank will get a pass.

Because they can.

They weren't high level. They were independent insurance agents. It was people like your neighbors who work hard... not executives.

Sadly, Dems don't teach their voters these things. Dems just prefer to spawn hateful lies and falsehoods to get their sheep to vote for them.

Because they weren't fired for their failures like the should've been. Now, they should have to face jailtime for frauding we the people. Wishful thinking on our parts, I'm sure...

It appears that once they got their bailout the starting singing ' happy days are here again ' and went on vacation using OUR MONEY. That just proves my point....the rich look out for the rich in this country. They run this country. The politicians are being paid off by getting huge campaign contributions from these people. The rich have the power. The top 1% of the highest income earners make more money than the bottom 90% of wage earners. They are not going to give up their power. They keep it by pre-selecting who will run for president, and then tell the respective parties to back their man. This bail out went to the rich and we the little guy MAY get some table scraps when everything is said and done. And it's OUR money we are talking about. We live under a form of communism ( now socialism ) but we call it a different name. Democracy.

Well actually,

It was not AIG execs.

It was a bonus for the top insurance sales people the last year.

IE:

the independant sales people all over the US.

The ones who sold the most insurance, recieved the trip as a bonus.

So you wanna take benefits away from the middle class insurance sales people ??

"Because they were being rewarded for the amount of work they did for AIG."

Rick Shaffer tells you to buy life insurance. Rick Shaffer said housing market will keep going up. Rick Shaffer said subprime loan crisis is overblown.

Don't buy life insurance.

The media has taken this out of proportion and has chosen their words carefully to sell the story.

The real fact are: The "retreat" that is spoken about in the media as being "top level executives" was actually a sales conference that was scheduled at least a year ahead of time. This was a conference that top level sales people went to. There were actually only 10 true AIG employees at the conference. Most were independent sales agents that were being rewarded for a job well done. No executives from AIG headquarters were part of this conference.

This was an incentive trip for insurance sales people. They earned this trip by being a top salesperson. It doesn't look good for the company, but it would probably have looked just as bad if they had been promised the trip, then had it revoked at the last minute -- especially seeing that the majority were not AIG employees to start with. (The media would have simply reversed the story and would have said that AIG makes promises to hard working sales people and doesn't fulfill their obligations to the.) It was a lose -lose situation.

Can we book Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa in 1 month advance?

My family, my friend, and I want to go on a vacation in Orlando, Florida in June. We want to stay at Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa. We're doing it with the timeshare thing and it says we can only book like 35 days in advance (which sounds a little crazy). Will there still be units available then? And if not, do you know of another good resort to stay at?

Westgate is massive. Took the family there on spring break (late March / early April) this year, which is a peak time for Orlando. We went to Westgate because we were doing a "last minute" timeshare exchange - 60 days or less - because it's far fewer points under our timeshare plan if you do it that way. It wasn't a problem, and I doubt it will be for you either.

The property itself was nice, although we really didn't spend much time there. Place to crash between parks basically. The one annoyance, that you'll see in a lot of the reviews about the place, and I couldn't agree more - parking is very, very, very limited. Very often had to park far, far away for the unit, and only then after wandering around for 10 minutes and feeling lucky to find any spot whatsover. It definitely detracted.

Even if you can't get into Westgate, if you're looking to do a timeshare exchange in Orlando, I'm sure you can find something. There's so much inventory, there's always something.

Westgate resort just went under. I would check to make sure they are still open in June.

Westgate has not gone under.
Economic meltdown has made it hard to finance any new timeshare sales there. Call 866 494 3396 for booking.

where can I go on vacation and get spa services?

Looking for a health spa kind of vacation - want to lose a bit of weight, do some hiking , get some relaxation and get away from it all. I guess Im looking fo a kind of resort but focussed on health, not food and alcohol.

A "Destination Spa" is what you are looking for, not a Resort Spa. Destination Spas are focused on health and life enhancement, feature great hiking as well as several other activities and offer healthy spa cuisine only, no distilled beverages (wine OK at meals).

Pricing is between $1,200 and 8,000 for a 7 day stay and is inclusive of meals, accommodations, activities and some spa services. The spa treatment services depends on the price. Less expensive = few to none, more expensive = more inclusive.

There are only about 30 Destination Spas in North America as compared to the thousands of Resort Spas which are more vacation and pampering oriented. The Southwest and Northeast offer several options with a few in the Midwest and South.

Search for Destination Spa Vacations.

I've been to all of them and can answer any questions for you.

You should try a tropical place. You can go hiking and swimming, go to spas and treat urself maybe a place like cuba which is a huge tourist spot or maybe Puerto Rico, i heard that they have alot of activites that you can do to lose weight and not eat and eat so much .but u know that usually when u go on vacation, u gain weight from all of the fancy dinners

Does anyone know of any good all-inclusive spa vacations?

I'd like to go to a spa resort for a few days. Anyone have any good suggestions on where to go?

There are some nice spas out in cali & arizona (so I hear). I have been to the Hershey Hotel & Spa in Hershey PA. I think it's really nice and the amusement park is practically across the street...but get ready to smell chocolate constantly!

anyone ever been to chula vista resort for vacation in wisconsin dells?

or anywhere in wisconsin for vacation (noahs ark waterpark, party barges', spa del sol)??? just wondering how fun it all is for an upcoming vacation there this year.

I have been to the Great Wolf Lodge. It is a real class act. I would recommend it to ANYONE! The rooms are very, very nice. But do be prepared that they are in reality much smaller than what they show on their web site. Also, the staff is wonderful. And the water park is very large! They even have an indoor wave pool. Also right across from their parking lot is an AWESOME outlet mall and also an indoor arcade / amusement park. Great place!

Travel to Hedonism III or Desire Resort & Spa?

We are planning to take a vacation to either Hedonism III (Jamaica) or Desire Resort & Spa (Mexico). We both enjoy partying au nautual as well as just chillin' out with other people that enjoy the same thing. We have been to the places in Europe and enjoyed them, but Desire and expecially Hedonism III seem to ramp up the action!! Anybody who has been there, either place, could you give us some feed back? Thanks much.. Rita & Charlie

Well the pro of Hedonism is that the water won't make you sick.. Too many strong drinks might.. But the water from the tap is good..
My friend has been to both and said the Hedo is more of a party and Desire more upscale and chill.. I'm sure the people are great at both places, as they seem to attract the same crowd.. Outgoing and friendly.
Desires food and resort in general are more upscale. It's newer.. Where as Hedo has a few years on desire, especially Hedo II, Hedo III is newer.
I have been to Hedo II and am going to Hedo III in 4 weeks. I have absolutely fallen in love with Jamaica. The island is beautiful, as are the people.
Just got back from Mexico 2 weeks ago and as much as I like parts of Mexico it doesn't hold my heart like Jamaica does. The land is flatter, the water is scary, and the language barrier can be difficult at times, especially because I haven't used my Spanish 101 in years. lol
Check out http://www.Dennyp.com
He has reviews and posters for all the above mentioned resorts..
Good Luck!
