Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) October 03, 2011
The California College of Ayurveda Spa is now accepting appointments for 2012 therapies. At the Ayurvedic Spa, the client receives stress relief therapies under the guidance of panchakarma practitioner and life-style recommendations and stress management techniques by a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist. Ayurveda, the "knowledge of life", is the traditional healthcare system of India. It is based on the idea that a life of harmony is the basis for all optimum health. Ayurveda believes that where there is harmony there is health and where there is disharmony there is disease. Thus, Ayurveda is the science of creating harmony between a person and their environment.

Can foreigners with internationally certified spa therapy skills work in the UK?
FYI, certifications and the acceptance of them is typically governed by the specific community in which you plan to live in. It would be best to contact the government there. Some certifications can be transferred internationally as long as they are accredited and recognized in the nation in which you plan to use it in.
When subcontracting massage therapy to a spa are my client files mine when I leave or the spas?
Keep in mind I am not an employee, but a subcontractor.
I believe they are yours...just as a hairstylist keeps her own records for her clients when she "rents" space/ or booth rental.
What is the best spa/hot tub brand for therapy?
I guess I'm looking for a spa that will sooth aches, back pain in particular. Is there a spa brand in particular that excels in providing spas that do that? I've heard Sundance Spas are good, but I'm still looking around...
I used to own a hot springs spa...it was awesome. I moved and the spa was too difficult to take with me, I miss it sooooo much!
Which is better a water foot spa or heated lavender aroma therapy booties with a matching shoulder wrap?
Cant decide which would be best to get for my boyfriends mom. Shes had foot surgery about 2 months ago and says her feet still hurt.

Has anyone ever tried therapy at an oxygen spa?
One just opened up here in town & I was thinking of trying it. I don't know much about them.
Yes, There is one in the six flags great adventure theme park i went to this summer. There was nothing to it really, about the same as smelling a scented candle. You could also mix the scents together and choose how high or low you want the smell going into your nose. Afterward I didnt feel anything different but when i stepped outside i could smell a whole lot better and some smells made me wish i hadnt had my nose so clear haha. You should try it why not.
What are some was of building a massage therapy business? That is in a new salon and spa already established.?
I recently moved from a doctor's office and am now at a salon in spa! There are 12 hair stylist, 5 receptionist's and 3 other people. I have started giving everybody that works there one free massage so they can help promote my business! Does anyone have more friends.
it would be ideal to have a one to two page website advertising your business and you should have buisness cards made with your webpage on it. I can recommend a site that allows you to build your own for a small amount of money and it's worth if you want to do your own site the way you want it. Go to IB-Card.com to promote your business with a one page internet buisness card and you should also have a waiver for your clients to sign to release you of anything legal and you're informing them of the terms so they're clear of what you will be doing in during and after the session and what follows for future sessions as well.
what is the potential of spa career in this recession time?
I would like to get an answer for the above question for my friend. He is a science graduate and wants to pursue for Diploma in Spa therapy. He wants to work in cruise ships.
You never know, with this going on there could be a lot of people out there looking for a way to relax.
On one hand (excuse the pun) while offering "a rub and a tug" usually means better tips, on a cruise ship if "your friend" has got his signals crossed, bumping into the "mishandled massagee" can be a bit awkward.
BTW "a friend" has a flaming rash on his tender bits and I er he was wondering....
Derives the word "spa" (wellness therapy) from the Belgium city Spa, or from Latin "sanus per aquam"?
Some people say "sanus per aquam" is no correct Latin.
The word comes from the city.
'Sanus per aquam' is good Latin - It means 'Healthy by means of water'.
What is the best way about starting up my own business in massage therapy?
I'm trying top go to school for it when I'm alright financially. The school probably won't be that hard, but I know that the business part will be. I just wanna know where can I go online or who can I call about this. Also I want to open up a massage therapy spa when I complete my schooling for everything.
The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.
I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.
Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.
Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:
* Success Beyond Work: What Prosperous Massage Therapists Know--Minimum Work, Maximum Profits, and a Sellable Business by Colleen Holloway
* Marketing Massage: How to Build Your Dream Practice by Monica Roseberry
* The Educated Heart: Professional Guidelines for Massage Therapists, Bodyworkers and Movement Teachers by Nina McIntosh
There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!
I want to open my own massage therapy/day spa...?
Im going to school to be a massage therapist. And when I graduate. I want to open my own day spa, offering massage therapy and other spa services. I know that you have to be licensed to be a massage therapist (obviously) but do you have to get any kind of license to offer spa services such as facials, body wraps, etc??
Yes, but it depends on the state. If you're in Texas, you have to license your establishment.
You should have formal training in Spa techniques, not just the hydrotherapy part of massage school. Hydro day gives just a sampling of what you can learn to do professionally.
I've been to massage school, and I'm an LMT here in Texas. The link is for Texas Dept of Health.
Spa Athénée offers pampering treatments for your blood type

If eating according to your blood type could work, a therapy treatment based on if you were a hunter, a cultivator or a nomad, could work too. In Bangkok, the Royal Meridian Plaza Athenee Bangkok’s Spa Athénée will become the first facility in Thailand to tailor treatments according to a person’s blood type. It’s all based on the belief that blood type determines an individual’s physiological and personality characteristics. Japan, for instance have been using blood type to define temperament and personality for nearly 100 years. On the menu was the Spa Athénée’s half-day “Blood Type Therapy Retreat” package, which uses tailored “Immunetra” spa therapy products made with fresh herbs, spices, fruits, and ground gemstone. Before the pampering begins, guests are put through a blood type consultation as well as offered plenty of literature highlighting the attributes that are allegedly characteristic to each blood type. So what does your blood-type tell about you?
If you’re blood type O, the literature says you’re considered a hunter with a strong digestive system, and leadership aspirations. You’re also goal-orientated, trend-setting, loyal, passionate and confident. O blood types are also vain, jealous and overly competitive.
Type A blood bearers are considered cultivators who like harmony, peace and organization. They’re said to work well with others, are sensitive, patient and affectionate. But they’re also stubborn and restless.
Type B people are considered nomads. They’ve got strong immune systems, flexible digestive systems, are rugged individualists, straight forward, decisive, creative and adaptable. Negatives are that they’re overly independent.
The treatments are then adapted depending on each blood type. For instance, the therapists at Spa Athénée say those with type O blood tend to be more stressed out, so their treatments will feature calming oils and massages.
