The GFCI is probably tripping because you have a connection between one of the high voltage lines and ground. This can be from broken insulation or conductive water between wires and ground. It could be very dangerous. Be sure to find the problem before continuing to use your hot tub.

The GFCI is detecting a ground fault (i.e. current going to ground) I would check the wiring. There may be a short, or some of the sealant may have cracked allowing water to get into the wiring. This happens alot if you have lights underwater in your spa. The reason you don't see blown fuses is be causes the GFCI acts faster than the fuse (GFCI usually acts in 3/10ths of a second when ground is detected, in order to prevent electrocution).

The reason your GFI trips is because you have a ground fault. What this means is that the electrical current has found a return path other than the wires going into and out of the spa equipment.

I'm sure you are aware, that this is serious hazard, and you should not use the spa equipment until it is fixed. To start with you should inspect all wiring and connections to be sure that no corrosion has occurred that might allow water to get into the electrical parts of the spa. Inspect any pumps, heaters, and blowers as well.

At the end of the day if you can't find the ground fault yourself, you will need to call in a pro.

The only way your going to trip the gfic is by having a greater amperage pull from your system than the breaker will allow--as in your drawing 30 amps on a 20 amp gfic--orrrr----you probably have a bad wire in the system somewhere that is going to ground. Could be the motor is just shot.

That GFCI is there to protect you against voltage going to ground through a short or a poorly insulated or damp wire. It is trying to keep you from killing yourself. Go back and recheck the wiring carefully, looking for incorrect connections or poorly insulated joints or frayed wires or strands sticking out.

Double check your wiring connections and make sure they are correct. It is also possible that you got a bad heater element out of the box. Check it with a continuity meter.

if it has a ozonater try to unplug it and try again

in addition to what people are saying, you could also have a small current leak to ground and hence the tripping, double check your connections, make sure you did not nick any wires

Read WHY AIG went down. It was a bank run and there is no bank that could have done any better.

Remember the scene in "Its a Wonderful Life" where George has to explain that the money is not in a safe in the bank. Its in the homes and businesses of its customers.

This was not an Enron do-over. There is no way AIG could have known the market was going to tank and a run would occur.

He could use a good spa and rub down at the tax payers expense. Afterall, I'm sure he is all stressed out.

That is a retarded question. He was exonerated of any accusations with the Keating ordeal. Barack Obama never mentioned it either, guy. They never even spoke of AIG. I'd be more worried about Bill Ayers or Reverend Wright or ACORN....There is actually something there to look into.

Charles Keating was sent to prison in the 1980's, John McCain was exonerated of everything except using bad judgment. He admitted his mistakes and has gone on to an honorable career.

Brach Obama and his Democrat Cronies are the ones who have their fingers deep in the AIG pockets. This is fact, and is under FBI investigation now.

Additionally There is the question of Obama and Ayers. Obama knew about Ayers, just like he knew about Jeremiah Wright for 20 years, and he made his beginnings by being a community organizer for ACORN, a known subversive group that has been investigated and some of its officer have been convicted, fined and imprisoned for Voter fraud, Fraud, money laundering, and in one case racketeering.

McCain made a mistake, recovered and has had a long and honorable career.

Obama to this day is lying about his many nefarious dealings and continues to hide and cover up these facts.

And, by the way, the latest voter registration fraud involving Obama's beloved ACORN, now includes several hundred thousand illegally register voters across 11 or more states.

Obama doesn't belong in the white house, he belongs in the "BIG HOUSE" (penitentiary).
