Little People of America to host regional meeting this weekend Kansas City Star

From October 14 through October 16, the Central Star Chapter of Little People of America (LPA) will host a weekend meeting of LPA at the Q Hotel and Spa in Kansas City, Missouri. The schedule of events includes, among other activities, membership meetings, physician consultations, a keynote on neurological issues that impact people with dwarfism, trips to local shops and museums, and a restaurant outing. The Central Star Chapter is within LPA’s 7th District, which includes Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Regional membership meetings are held within each district every fall and spring.

Little People of America is the nation’s oldest and largest organization for people with dwarfism, having celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2007. The weekend meeting in Roanoke comes on the eve of Dwarfism Awareness Month. In 2009, LPA identified October as Dwarfism Awareness Month to bring attention to issues that impact people of short stature. In early October, the state of Missouri issued a proclamation recognizing October as Dwarfism Awareness Month. Delaware, Indiana, Michigan, Oklahoma and Puerto Rico have also issued issued proclamations. Through Dwarfism Awareness Month, LPA seeks to raise positive awareness around dwarfism, address common misconceptions about people with dwarfism and increase opportunities for people with dwarfism around the country.

spa weekend?

I live in newcastle upon tyne and for my mam birthday in may i want to book her a spa weekend can you advise me on the best and nearest place

What a lovely idea. found this on google - it may be of use to you. A lot of hotels seem to specialise in hen do's which might not be the right atmosphere for a relaxing weekend with your mum.

Here's some information about spa breaks...

Any movie suggestions for a girls spa getaway from it all weekend?

Ok, my Aunt and I are planning a spa getaway weekend. Both of us are dealing with marriages that are ending and I am looking for some ideas for movies we can watch while we sit around in bath robes eating oreo cookies. Any ideas?

Alien

Run Lola Run

9 to 5

Charlie's Angel (2000 with Cameran D, et al)

Erin Brockovich

Flashdance

Hope you have fun!!! :)

First Wives Club, Death Becomes Her, Cactus Flower.

failure to launch

get the sex and the city box set!
or desperate housewives.
theyre much better than any cheesy rom-com

Here's a pretty good variety I think:
The Sweetest Thing--funny chick flick
Moulin Rouge--cool musical/drama/love story
Sahara--action/adventure
Running With Scissors--will make anyone feel better about their situation, humorous and dark drama
War of the Roses--Oldie but goodie
Because of Winn Dixie--a kid's movie, but I've watched it a million times w/ my daughter and by myself even
Anything with Brendan Frasier--dont know why, but all his movies are really good.
Enjoy!

How to Make Homemade Spa Weekend ?

I'm home for the weekend and decided I wanted to do a Spa type of thing. Anyone know any easy to make face masks etc. ??

1. Pick a good day that no one is going to be home. A day that you are free.
2. Sleep in. Wake up in and have a yogurt and some fruit for breakfast...something light. Stay in your pajamas.
3. First is the mask. Sit in a reclining chair and play some of your favorite music. Apply a mud mask and some cucumbers to your eyes. Make sure your hair is pulled back with a headband.
4. Now its bathtime. Draw a warm bubble bath. Light some lavender scented candles for a relaxed atmoshpere. Since you have candles turn off the lights. Soothe in the bath for 30 minutes to an hour.
5. When you get out lather your entire body with some lavender scented or aloe lotion to sooth and moisturize you skin.
6. Have some lunch, a sandwich or soup.
7. Sit down on the couch and read a book for about 30 minutes to an hour and just relax. I recommend a book by Luanne Rice.
8. Give yourself a manicure and a pedicure to make you look gorgeous.
9. Do some yoga to find your inner peace and clear your mind. Do for about 15 minutes to an hour.
10. Do some breathing excersises or meditation to calm your soul. Do for 15 minutes to an hour.
11. Sit down make some popcorn and watch a chick flick. I recommend Just Like Heaven, The Lakehouse, The Notebook, When Harry Met Sally, The Prince and Me, Before Sunrise, or any of your favorite shows.
12. Put on some jams and dance around the house in your underwear. Dance anywhere between 15 minutes to and hour.
13. When your husband comes home, have him cook dinner, and give you a massage.
14. Go to bed by 10.

[edit] Tips

* Take your time because you have all day.
* A spa is always better with a best girlfriend.
* Relax as much as you can and don't think about problems or anything all day.

[edit] Things You'll Need

* mud mask
* candles
* manicure and pedicure supplies
* a movie
* a yoga video or yoga experience
* a book
* soothing lotions and body washes (either both smelling the same or smelling bath wash/gel/salts and non scented lotion)
* food

Looking for cheap weekend spa break in England?

I really want a few days away to pamper and relax, but all the spas I have found so far are so expensive! Any ideas on somewhere I can relax, meditate, have spa facilities etc? It doens't have to be posh hotel, a small commune retreat would be fine. All answers welcome. Thankyou!

Have you tried www.lastminute.com - you may get a really good bargain on there. Hope you find something!

If you find out then let me know as all the ones i have seen have been ridiculous prices I e 300 pounds plus for just a 2 night break in UK.

Have you tried the Bath Spa?

Fancied Treating the Missus to a Spa Weekend, Anywhere for about £200 each?

I'm in the north of England and fancied treating the missus to a spa weekend. I fancied spending about £200 each and wondered if anyone knew of any good deals or nice hotels?

Thanks!!!

warner Thorsby Hall, or a Devere Hotel, see Belton Woods at Devere.

You sound like a Butlins kind of couple to me.

Try Seaham Hall and Luxary Spa. Only 20 minutes from Newcastle and it's supposed to be amazing. Around £225 - £300 per person per night but you get bed and breakfast and spa services at no extra cost. I guess it's fairly expensive but they may be able to offer a special deal.

There is also MacDOnald Hotel and Spa in Berwick Matfeand n Hall hotel in Northumberland who do a one night Spa Escape from £180 per person. Based on two adults sharing, 2 night Spa Escape from £285 per person. Based on two adults sharing.

Good luck, I hope my partner takes a leaf from your book...maybe I will drop him some heavy hints later...."you know this bloke on answers is taking his wife for a spa weekend, isn't that a lovely idea...I'd really appreciate and love that....love it, love it" Do you think that'd work? he-he!

Hope this helps and have a wonderful time.

why was it that obama was the only candidate to bring up the aig "weekend spa" spending?

during the town hall meeting and mccain said nothing?

Because those people from aig are McCains friends, actually those are the friends that he is reffering to when he said "MY FRIENDS" on the debates

McCain supports those greedy idiots in AIG...or he's just uninformed.

Because the AIG executives are McCain's kind of people.

because McCain did not want to call out his cronies

Because $400K is just a couple of outfits for the aged Barbie Doll, Cindy McCain.

Obama will say anything to keep the public away from his past associations and continues to place blame without assuming any responsibility although he has accepted monies from Fannie and Freddie and Lehman Bros who have all contributed to the financial fiasco!

After it was brought up, what did you want McCain to do? Bring it up again?

The question was "What is the fastest way to help people in these economic times?" As far as that question, the less AIG is mentioned, the better.

When your whole political philosophy is built on the idea that regulations don't EVER work, and the private sector can best regulate itself (despite a long history of proof that runs counter to that claim), then I imagine you must be in a state of cognitive dissonance and unable to process the information coming in the last few years.

What are some spa related places to go on the east coast for a girls weekend?

My old girlfriends and I , all whom have children now, would like a mini-reunion, all girls weekend inclusive of quaint shops, good food/drinks and a spa! Any suggestions? We live in FL, GA & TN
We are looking to book this Oct 2009 and it does not have to be one of the states I named...love the suggestions so far...THANK YOU!!! ;O)

I suggest Myrtle Beach as well. I rent out condo's down there quite often. Email me with dates and I can get you a great place to stay for a reasonable price.

KYLALUPTON@YAHOO.COM

Myrtle Beach SC has something for everyone!

If you're in Atlanta, I suggest Spa Sydell. In the Georgia area search around in places like Helen for nice bed & breakfasts. The shopping there is wonderful as well.

In Florida I would try Apalachiola - it's a very small town with quaint shops and I'm sure it has a spa.

In TN there is always Gatlinburg - it's a little touristy, but my cousin got married there and the spa we went to was excellent. It's a huge wedding town so there are lots of spas to choose from.

Good luck!

Hi, I am in MA, we have "Moodz", very nice, but expensive,
I also suggest Myrtle Beach SC.
Enjoy!

Girls spa weekend in illinois?

I live in Metro St. Louis and around Christmas there were
commercials on TV for a spa weekend. I can't remember the town it was in or the name, all I remember it was about 100
or so miles from St. Louis in a small town.
Thanks .

has anyone been on a spa weekend? can they reccomend it?

i want to go away for a relaxing weekend getting pampered. has anybody tried it? is it worth the money?

Absolutely it is!! What is better than hanging around all day in a bathrobe while being pampered? Don't miss an opportunity to try it!

Spa Day or Spa Weekend Getaway?

I live in chicago and would like to look into going to a spa for a weekend or even just overnight. I would be willing to travel as well to a spa getaway. The thing is, however, is that I don't want to make it an extremely expensive trip. I was hoping to do it with my mom. Any suggestions of places that are good, nice, relaxing but won't cost an arm and a leg?!

In town you can go to the Dana spa and hotel on State St. If you want to travel the Kohler Spa in Sheboygen, WI is wonderful too.
