Belleville's public pool may escape latest federal mandate on safety Belleville News Democrat

The agency has not said whether the recirculation system failure could have resulted in illness from crypto. The next hearing in the case is in February. City leaders are trying to get an earlier hearing so they can know whether to incorporate the pool into next year's budget.

Also, the Belleville pool, along with many others across the country, will need to make upgrades to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Debbie Belleville, manager of operations for Belleville's Parks and Recreation Department, said those changes could cost somewhere near $5,000. But city leaders hope to know the results of the state investigation before they spend that money; they don't want to invest in the pool if the state is going to make them close it, anyway.

The pool was built in 1976 and still operates on the original tank and pipe system, and it is needing more repairs every year. An apprentice plumbers' class is reviewing the pool to see what needs to be done before it can open again next year.

What college degree would be needed for Swimming Pool Design?? is that in the field of ART or in Architecture?

This falls under the category of architecture and structural engineering. Of course, the best architects and engineers also have an artistic component in what they do.

Structal engineering/architecture. As most swimming pools are integrated into the building (Dug into the floor) and that's just about all Architecture.
But i guess you have to have an imagination and able to draw, so thats a bit of art involved too.

how can i see more than one size of a swimming pool design or idea?

try this link

Try looking at other swimming pools, perhaps in other yards.

I'd be willing to bet your backyard does not have more than 1 swimming pool, and it will most likely be the same shape/size the next time you look at it.

I could be wrong, though.

What is the best design for a swimming pool, in your opinion?

What's your favorite color of plaster inside the pool?

A kidney shaped pool,with white sides and bottom.Most now a days have a waterfall built into the landscape and a Jacuzzi.A cabana could also be added with a bar and sauna.

one with a water fall attachment to a Jacuzzi.

Usually the plaster is always white and in certain cities, counties they do have regulations as to what color or decor can be placed on the bottom of pools for safety reasons.

How Do I Stop An Inflatable Swimming Pool Killing My Grass?

I am considering purchasing an 8ft inflatable swimming pool (designed for adults every in the UK seems to sell them) but i remember when i was a child my parents lawn always used to end up yellow and dead, is there any way i can stop this form happening with the pool? I don't think moving it around is feasable as they are quite big, i was guessing maybe you could buy some sort of matt that will allow the grass to breath? but then i guess it still needs light. who knows? any ideas?

Put it on the patio

Not really, unless you put it on some kind of raised platform so it can continue to get sun and water. If you smother the grass so it can't get light and water then it will die. It's just something you will have to deal with when the pool is gone.

You are correct, it is the lack of light which makes the grass go yellow. I should'nt worry too much though, grass soon makes a recovery, and once again will become green

Hmmm, the grass needs to be able to photosynthesise, so without light it is doomed. Unless you're planning on building a large structure I don't think there's much you can do!

if your worried about killing the grass then dont get the pool...there is no way to stop the grass from dying underneath it..

Nothing you can do I'm afraid. The weight of the water will crush air out of anything you put under it.

That's not a problem man. All you need to do is move the pool to a different spot on the lawn every halfhour or so.

There is nothing you can do for it, the best thing would be to place your pool where the dead grass will not be so noticable when you take the pool down for the season.

I would dig a border right around the pool and leaving just earth so that any water that splashes out will sink into the dirt.

move it often. even if it is a short distance, that allows the grass to get the sunlight it needs

It's the nature of the beast, you have not only covered and area in plastic but you added a ton of water and people trampling around on it , It's gonna die, there is no way to get around it.

I always found that anything on the grass killed the top growth, but after removal fresh new grass started from the roots. This is because of lack of light. It depends on how long you keep the grass covered; ask yourself if you really want the pool on the grass.
For anyone who wants a new lawn this is a tip:-cover existing grass with black plastic sheet for about a week, rake off yellow grass and new grass will grow from roots.

Word Problem: Do you know swimming pool designs?

Swimming pool design.

An architect has designed a motel pool within a rectangular area that is fenced on three sides as shown in the figure.

If she uses 60 yards of fencing to enclose an area of 352 square yards, then what are the dimensions marked L and W in the figure?

Assume that L is greater than W.

(Find exact and approximate solutions)

You don't give the figure so I will have to guess on a formula for the perimeter

P = L + 2W = 60
A = LW = 352

L = 352/W

352/W + 2W = 60
352 + 2W² = 60W
2W² - 60W + 352 = 0
W² - 30W + 176 = 0

W = [ 30 ± √(30² - 4(1)(176) ]/2
W = 15 ± √(900 - 704)/2
W = 15 ± √(196)/2
W = 15 ± √(196/4)
W = 15 ± √(49)
W = 15 ± 7

W = 22, 8

L = 352/W
L = 16 or 44

so one choice is W = 22, L = 16
the other is W = 8, L = 44

where can i find info about swimming pool designs?

I'm interested in building a pool..

Google pools... you can get all kinds of pools, the most standard are rectangular in various sizes. If you want to pay the money, pool installers will build any shape. I think Elvis ( I think it was Elvis) had one shaped like a guitar. If I'm wrong somebody will certainly correct me on that.

There may be something of use here.

What's an aesthetic design for the exterior of a swimming pool?

recently, I had installed an above ground 12 foot diameter pool. the grass has been killed off around the surrounding area, and I have only had time to put a few potted tropical plants in places.
I wont be doing any major work now with summer almost over, but I want to design over the winter something nice to do for next year. A running deck even to the top of the pool isnt an option. but what about one that is 1 foot off the ground? so that it could be walked on, have pool toys sit there and that way my kids and i dont have to walk in the mud around it?
should it be wood or some other material? wood seems like high maintenance. I guess I could just build a landscaping bed but it might get ruined with too muich water when it splashes out and it drains when i clean it once a month.

thank you for any suggestions.:)

one thing you might consider is a cool deck this is a deck that no matter how hot it gets this deck will not burn your feet.they do work i have been on them bare footed. and you can have any color you want owner of pool company for eleven years.

Hot chicks with bikinis standing around it.

benefits of using fins in the swimming pool?

I'm thinking of buying some swimming pool fins (not the scuba type, the ones designed for swimming training) I can't find much info on the benefits of using them though. I'm assuming they give more of a leg workout, which is what I'm after. Any info or links is much appreciated.

Buy the Fins! Get Zoomers. Fins help you feel how your supposed to be in the water. like how the water has resistance against you.

Training fins (flippers) not allowed in swimming pool. Does pool management has the right to do this?

I own a pair of very short swimming fins designed by a top world class manufacturer exclusively for swimming pool training. However I was banned from using them in a London pool. It is definetely a swimming pool accessory and NOT scuba or open sea water long flippers. My fins have rounded rubber padded ends for safety protection.

In the same pool there is a SCUBA course where they use fins. It seems that management is discriminating fin use according to customer return and they are more lax with safety rules, if they make additional money. They make the same amount of money, if I use fins or not. If I became a scuba trainee, they will make more money from me and allow me to wear fins, actually sea fins!

I need to use the fins to rehabilitate from an orthopedic condition, so I will appreciate any serious replies. Thanks

That is outreagous!! It can't be 1 rule for you and 1 rule for other people. In my opinion the management do not have the right to do that, like you said they are still making money from you. Did you mention to them about your orthpedic condition? If you did and they still won't budge...i would use another swimming pool.

swimming pools design considerations?

Extra reinforcing steel & thicker walls/sides/base. A lot of older pools are cracking because they weren't designed to last.

Function & form should co-exist, not follow each other. There are some really ugly pools (of the permanent variety) that people hardly use, other than to drain and refill with dirt. In time these only turn into cespools of stagnent materiel festering and nutruing disease
