YMCA pools to reopen; drain repairs to happen in December The State Journal-Register
The Springfield YMCA’s downtown pools reopened Tuesday afternoon, one day after they closed, because Y officials were able to work out an agreement with the state on new drain coverings that must be installed to satisfy safety rules.
YMCA officials issued a two-sentence news release that says the Y entered into a “stipulation and agreed compliance plan” with the Illinois Department of Public Health that will allow the pools to remain open until Dec. 18, when the pools will be closed to allow for the needed repairs.
It’s unclear how long those repairs may take. YMCA marketing director Patty Knepler and executive director Don Darnell didn’t return phone calls from The State Journal-Register about the news release.
Darnell told the newspaper Monday that the four-lane pool and a shallow-water pool, as well as two whirlpools at the downtown YMCA, 701 S. Fourth St., would need to be closed at least a week or two while the Y had the new drain coverings installed.

If it is cracked to a point where it is leaking you might have a problem with DIY. If it leaked water from this hole a surface repair would not be practical.The soil that supports this area might be washed away and it will crack again. A pool company would know how to fix it. If it is a surface crack you can get fiberglass repair kits at most hardware supply or marine repair shop.Follow the instructions in these kits .

Yes, there is an epoxy putty made just for that, you can do the repair under water. Check with a good pool supplier.

We had a large expresson machine in this hotel that had a huge tank to empty. It was so digusting every night emptying that tank and smelling like puke and sewage. OH GOD it was nasty. Then we called in a plumber and they fixed it where the waste from the expresso machine would run into our sewage and get flushed out. They did an awesome job and I was sooo relieved to not have to smell that ever again!

The waterfall is above ground and has some fine hairline cracks in the mortar around the rocks. Not sure how to go about repairing the leaks.
use Dry-Lock patch ( sold at Lowe's or Home depot) it works great even when wet or running water are coming through. All you do is mix a small amount and with gloves ( wear the gloves because it is rough on the hands because of the sand or grit content) push it in the cracks and smooth with finger to look like the rock and it should dry almost instantly only mix a small amount at a time as it dries really fast but works great. I have used it outside on my fondation and on some areas that I wanted to stop water from going through.
repairing swimming pool plumbing?
My pool is about 20 years old and is plumbed with pvc. Unfortunately over the last six year drought the clay soil has pulled away from the plumbing and there is a leak(prettybad) by the skimmer. I that isn't hard enough to keep it primed and running the skimmer side of the pool is now 4" higher than the other end (no cracks in the gunnite shell). I need to know exactly what the holes in the skimmer are for. I know one goes directly to the filter and sucks but the other one is for what? And I have a drain cover at the bottom that a former pool guy said not to let leaves build up on but where does it go? Theres no drain mechanism. I have located the leak and know that I or someone tougher than I am will have to dig and replace pvc but I have to create a deeper skimmer hole as I certainly can't "raise or lower the shell".
This is a tough question, with no easy answer. Over the years I have seen many pools go out of level. Put quite a few back in level, too. But all the solutions are quite costly. And each pool should be approached differently. Some can be mud-jacked back to level. But be prepared for the shell to crack- which can also be fixed. Others are re-leveled simply by removing the deck and re-tiling the pool. Or a new shell can be built inside the old one. There are other options as well. But the pool needs to be evaluated before a decision can be made on which method is best. Can tell you this much, however. Get ready to start finding cracks in the pool. All that water is leaking under the pool shell. This will cause all sorts of things to happen, none of which are good.
By the way,the front hole in the skimmer goes down the wall to the main drain. Uses indirect suction to operate. Wish I had better news for you. But there simply aren't any cheap fixes to this problem.

Depending upon how big the puncture is try a bike "innertube" repair kit. That should patch it up OK.
