Tanning Bed Operator Doyce Dean Griffis indicted on Child Porn Charges First Coast News

The tanning bed."

Griffis is accused of making video recordings of dozens of female customers, including minors, the statement said.

Two women notified the BCSO in April about customers being videotaped without their knowledge, according to the sheriff's office.

Some of the victims may have been as young as 13, and that it likely will take months to complete the probe, the BCSO said at the time. The woman who noticed the camera and reported Griffis said she "felt molested."

Griffis said just after his arrest that he felt he had done nothing wrong because he kept the tapes private. He also said since the women were "beautiful," he did not know why they would mind being taped.

The tanning business, operating since 2000, was in a barn at the suspect's home in the 2200 block of Southeast 128th Street in Starke.

According to a statement from BCSO, the suspect confessed to filming customers who undressed before tanning.

A two-way mirror, laptop computer, four containers of VHS tapes, 30 8-mm cassettes, 41 DVDs and two memory cards were seized as evidence.

Tanning bed?

I just bought a 1998 tanning bed. It comes with a ballast box seperate from the bed itself. What does this box do? Will it make my light bill higher vs one without a seperate ballast box?

I think that it MAY be slightly more costly to operate. If this is for personal use I wouldn't be concerned. Hope that helps !!

It will cost more to run

How many tanning bed visits does it take?

I've been to the tanning bed 3 times & still haven't developed a tan.

I always leave one day in between visits. My times were 6 mins , 7 mins and 10 mins.

How long before I start to see noticeable results?

First, and most importantly, it all depends on your skin type. If you've always been one to take long to tan outside, it will take longer inside too. Or if your skin color is very white, it takes longer for the UV rays to penetrate deep enough to make a noticable tan.

Second, bronzers and lotions. I personally like all Swedish Beauty lotions/bronzer lotions. Go to your tanning salon and talk to some of the workers, see what they suggest. If they're smart, they'll give you a few choices of bronzers and what not.

Third, longer time periods or leveling up a bed if you still haven't tanned darker (but only level up if you're ready!!). 6 and 7 minutes are pretty short time if you're in a lower level bed. If you're in the lowest bed, i suggest doing 12-15 minutes. Higher level beds, just try going a few more times at 10. Then again, it also depends on what the beds are like at your salon. Again, talk to a worker. They should (hopefully) know about their beds and suggest something for you.

But seriously remember this, though; don't 'level up' just because you aren't quite getting all the tan you want. The lower level beds will give you a more permenent tan, but it will take quite a bit longer to form. The high level beds tend to give more burning with longer tanning periods, but also 'instant gratification,' which sounds good, but the tans fade so quickly that you would just have to go everyday almost and destroy your skin to keep the tan. (The reason behind that is that the higher level beds us a type of UV ray that doesn't penetrate as far into the skin because its thicker and causes a much darker tan on top, but of course goes away just as fast. (i believe they use more UVB rays, if you don't know what i mean, tanning beds use mostly UVA rays, and a little UVB rays. look it up, its kind of interesting actually.))

hope this helps! Consider talking to a consultant at your salon. Sometimes they're the biggest help!

You could try using a tanning lotion that has bronzers in it. Just be careful because if you use too much it can leave a streak on you. You may also need to increase the tanning level that you are in if your salon has different tanning levels.

Try using a tanning lotion and if your already using one maybe try another one with a bronzer it it. Dont shower 3 hours before a tan or 3 hours after a tan. Apparently this effects the tanning process and your tan. You should also maybe increase the minutes your tanning. Maybe the time your going in is not long enough for your skin to tan. I usally see a difference after going about 2 times when i follow all of this

hope this helps !
=D

This depends on many, many things, one of which is your skin type. If you are fair skinned it may take a few more visits, but you are right not to spend too much time under the lamps because you could burn.

Another factor is the type of bed you are in. How many lamps are there and how powerful are they?

Lotion is very important too. Moist skin tans, dry skin doesn't. The quality of the lotion is important too, though you don't have to spend a small fortune for a decent lotion.

If you go to a reputable salon, the staff there should be trained and able to advise you and put you on the path to maximize your tan.

Good luck.

What is the equivalent of tanning bed minutes to time spent in the real sunlight?

I tan in a Wolff Sunvision 28LE bed if that makes a difference. Max is 20 minutes. I'd like to know what each minute in a tanning bed is equal to in real sunlight time. The gym owner where I tan didn't know.

20 minutes in the tanning bed is about an hour to an hour and a half in the sun with no sunscreen on.

Mybe about 10 min. i don't really know

I believe they are the same because they both have the same levels of radiation and UV indices.

How does a typical tanning bed place work?

And I have a farmers tan if I were to use a tanning bed would it even out the tan?

Sure, but you'd have to put sunscreen on the part of your arms that's already dark, or it'll still look slightly uneven for the first couple of sessions.

You buy blocks of minutes (like $30 for 200 minutes or something along those lines), and use them in increments of 10 or 15 minutes each -- depending on how well or quickly you tan, you might want choose the shorter session. Spread your sessions out over a long period -- don't go every single day or you'll come out looking ridiculous. Go once every three or four days. Also, ASK before you even get assigned a bed if the bulbs are new or not. NEW bulbs will burn you faster than bulbs that have been in use for a while.

You'll need to purchase goggles to protect your eyes -- they'll sell them at the tanning salon. DO NOT ATTEMPT to get away with going under those lights WITHOUT eye protection. I've got the type of goggles that are actually just two little "cups" that you set over your eyes once you lay down.

I have very fair skin and I only take two or three 10-minute sessions, spread out over a week, to put enough color onto my bod to not look like a zombie.

what is the diference between a tanning bed and a bronzing bed?

I just went tanning for the first time on Tuesday and the girl recommended a bronzing bed for me. I went in it for 12 minutes and didn't burn or anything. Now I am going back today and I dont know if I should go into the bronzing bed or the tanning bed. The price to go to a bronzing bed is double the cost of the tanning. Any tips?

Regular (Tanning) Bed: Stimulates your melinin so that your skin can develop the cells to tan. This one uses more UVA rays...

Upper (Browning) Bed: Takes that melinin and just browns it. It uses more UVB rays...

I would always suggest using a regular most of the time and about four to five times a month use a browning bed! Good Luck, dont forget to use a good lotion with Aloe Vera Gel/Oil, will do wonders!

if u come to know let me know

same thing.

tanning can be bad for your skin and everything, but bronzing kind of gives off a sexy look (psst...tanning causes ugly wrinkles)that acoording to the pros, would look good on you. if you dont like paying the big bucks for it you should look up cheaper salons with bronzing beds, or not go as often

The bronzing bed is like another person said, to brown the melanin cells. The regular beds cause the melanin cells to become active and move to the surface. The bronzing beds brown them. You will get tan either way you just do not burn in the bronzing beds due to them having almost no UVB rays.

What is good way to tan for light to medium skin tone without going to a tanning bed? Lotion? Spary tan?

I have a event this weekend and i want a sunkissed tan but i dont want to go to a tanning bed. Is there a way to appear somewhat tanner without going to a tanning bed? Does the lotions work better the the spray? Is there one product that works better than others?

you should try the myst on tan.. they have it at most salons.. and usually at all tanning salons they have some sort of spray tan.. whether it be by machine or by hand.. there are profressionals that are working at salons waiting to help you, i'd try a salon.. i used to work at one.. thats why i suggest this... goodluck either way!! i'm sure you'll look beautiful either way!!

try the lotions i hear they work really good

i prefer the lotion over the spray. exfoliate all over, or atleast the parts that you can see outside of the clothes you'll be wearing. you should apply a good lotion so your skin isn't dry.

then apply the lotion. there are different kinds you can get ones that you put on a few times to get a tan as dark as you want, or one that you only apply once, but i dont like this one so much.
i like to put it on right after i put on lotion again. because it doesn't get all smeary/orange.

Everyone has their opinion, so I'll share mine. I too have fair skin. Start gradually. I use Loreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer for Fair Skins in the tube. This is a tinted lotion so don't freak out if it looks dark in the bottle. Its like this so you see where your putting it. First you have to exfoliate your entire body. you don't need a separate moisturizer. Use gloves cause it stains your hands and nails. Put it on carefully thin layer one section at a time n please take your time I learned that the hard way :) having a large mirror helped me especially on the back. you'll need to put it on every day till you reach your desired color. If you get dark spots, use a moisturizer to even it out. I use it 2 times a day! morning and 2 hrs before bed. It leaves a beautiful shimmery glow! not orange. Ull get lots of compliments. I still do :)

What effect does sunless tanner have on the tanning bed?

What's the best way to mix sunless tanner and the tanning bed? Any positive, or negative, effects of using both methods?

Well I did that last summer and I didnt have any problems..My only issue is that I have to use self tanner on my feet and hands because they are the only parts that get NO color...I usually put self tanner (a mild one) on in the morning after my shower. Then i go tanning like 8 hours later..I never seem to have a problem but you can ask a tanning salon for sure.

don't risk getting skin cancer. use tanning lotions

I would think that covering the skin with the sunless tanner might make that area less able to tan from the bed (because the light doesn't hit the skin directly). I duno though so maybe you should ask the person who is working at the tanning salon.

i think tanning beds work really good i use thme all the time i dont see why everyone thinks there so bad
its just as dangerous as sitting at the beach
you could skin cancer either way

make your skin flake and look terrible.

good way to get skin cancer and you will turn yourself orange that will be a nice color for the summer!!!!

Yes i agree with the first person i wouldnt risk getting that, too much radiation is not good, and not to mention you will age faster

If you really think about it its not worth it because you should do everything you can now to protect the future of your skin.

Why not get spray tanned in the salon instead?

How long should I start Tanning in a tanning bed before my bridal photos?

I just moved to a state that is really really cold compared to sunny CA where I am from. I am not horribly white, but I want to be as dark as cameron diaz for my bridal pictures in the middle of March. When should I start tanning in a tanning bed and for how long?

don't do it. you'll look way fake. and everyone will know it. your natural color will look much prettier in the photos. fair skin looks much nicer in photos than tanned, soemtimes in photos tan skin looks too reddish.

What are the best tanning products to use while going to a tanning bed?

I have trouble getting a tan, so i was wondering if there are any products that make it easier to get a tan while going to a tanning bed?

i like maui babe tanning lotion and australlian and european gold. oh and supre hemp! happy tanning

What is the best tanning bed lotion or spray to use? Are there any big differences in the products?

I want to get the most out of my tanning bed experience. This year is the first time I have ever gone and I don’t really feel like I am getting the results I wanted. Maybe I am just impatient. I was wondering if one lotion was any better than the other. Any tips?

Try using Tao. Salon formula is better to use than OTC.
Tao is a brand of lotion.
