And the excellent service at the Grand Hotel Excelsior – You’ll be in good hands! You don’t have to travel all the way to Thailand to experience a first class Traditional Thai Massage with a highly qualified Thai therapist. All you have to do is visit Le Grand Spa at the Grand Hotel Excelsior near Valletta and you will be in for a real treat. Tried and tested! Erika Brincat writes
Tucked away in a cosy corner not far from the huge pool overlooking Marsamxett Harbour with its majestic sea views, lies Le Grand Spa and its calm, Eastern inspired ambience. The comfy waiting room and lounge area are decorated with beautiful buddhas – statues and traditional Thai paintings line the walls, and at this point I have already started to relax, cocooned in these aesthetic surroundings.
The pretty Thai therapist Artita greeted me with her charming, friendly manner and led me to the changing rooms and therapy room. Everything was clean, neat and orderly as one would expect from a five star hotel. Once we stepped inside the therapy room I was at first surprised to see a large double bed laid out on the floor instead of the usual massage table and that is when it dawned on me that a Traditional Thai Massage is quite different from the usual massage, and might be more similar to a Thai Yoga Massage which consists of gentle stretching and manipulation of the muscles under the therapist’s expert guidance.

thai massage?
where can i find free online manual about thai massage? i want to practise it only at home, so i dont need any certificates.
Be careful about that, even at home. There are many contraindications to massage that a lot of people are not aware of. Licensed Massage Therapists take courses in anatomy and physiology and pathology,in addition to learning the hands-on portion of massage so that they can practice massage safely. It may sound funny, but if you perform massage and are not properly trained, you may do more harm than good. It may sound funny because most people think massage isn't a big deal and don't understand how it could possibly harm anyone; however, the more you read about it or the more you get trained, the more you come to realize that there are some situations in which an untrained person's massage could have an ill effect.
Being a licensed therapist, I do not agree with untrained individuals performing massage [How could I? Not only for the reasons I said, but also because that's money out of my pocket! :)]. That being said, I have not seen any online manuals at all. There are a lot of books out there, but you usually need a general level of understanding of basic techniques, such as Swedish, and terminology of massage, anatomy, myology, and pathology. Pay particular attention to any contraindications when you read about any massage techniques.
One final thing, be sure that you check regulations in your area; for example, in New York State it is illegal for anyone to perform massage, even in your own home, if you are not licensed in the state. I know you can check the Office of Professions website in NYS for these regulations, but I don't know what it would be in your state. Some states do not regulate massage yet, but I would still like to warn you, just in case.
Thai Massage is a combination form Ayurveda and Chinese and is good for health and relaxation ?
The Thai massage is probably the best in the world, it gives complete relaxtion and prevents agressivness. It is to be done by opposite sex, who consider masturbation as like cleaning of body.Which is also being precribed in India for handling mental retardates, Why massage in India by opposite sex is considered bad. No where thse women have sex and behave like sex workers.
India's rich culture do not allow these kinds of fantasies.
But it is not followed in India just because there are other enough ways to gain physical and mental health which mother nature has offered and massage by opposite sex is not the only alternative left
It's not just women who donot behave like sex workers, in India every woman is considered equal to mother except one that's wife.........
How do I study Thai yoga and Thai massage at Wat Poh?
I'm a tourist in Bangkok, Thailand who wants to study Thai massage and Thai yoga during my stay here. What's the cheapest way to get from Rama IX (Soi 3, near IT Mall) to Wat Poh and back?
Also, do I need a student visa to study at the Thai medicine center there? Do they speak English? How much does it cost and how long does it take to get a certification?
Thanks.
From the IT Mall you easily and cheaply get to Wat Po by taking the Saen Saeb canal boats from right next to the Petchburi MRT station (one stop away from the Rama IX MRT station at the IT Mall). The canal boats will take you all the way to the Golden Mount Temple, from there you can bus, taxi, tuk-tuk or even walk to Wat Po. Another option is to take a combination of the subway and skytrain to the end of the Saphan Taksin Skytrain line, from the Central/Sathorn Pier you can take a water taxi up the river right to Wat Po.
I don't anything about the massage school, but I would imagine that someone there speaks English.
direct link for information...
it's too much to answer becuase they have so much courses.
Traditional massage, foot massage baby massage ect.

Do I need a license to practice Thai Massage in the US?
I'm studying Thai massage in Thailand. I would like to find a job or start my own clinic using this type of massage when I go to the States. Do I need a license for this? What do I need to do and what kinds of jobs can I apply for? Can I open my own clinic? Do hospitals recognize traditional massage?
Yes, you will need a license to practice thai massage because it is classified as a massage so you will have to have a license to charge money for it. Different states have different requirements. You wouldn't be able to get a job in a spa without further training, but you could rent a room in a massage clinic and just do Thai as your specialty. Yes you can open your own clinic if you desire. It would be good to find other therapists that specialize in Thai to help you. And I'm not sure if hospitals recognize Thai. I think they lean more towards sports medicine, and advanced integrative therapies. Good luck Thai massage is awesome more people should become aware of it.

What is better for a bad back, swedish massage or thai massage?
I have lower back pain, probably due to trying to sleep on a Detroit to San Francisco flight. I have heard that a good massage would help ease the pain. I have seen advertisements for both Swedish and Thai massage and I don't know which one is better.
swedish massage might be better for lower back pain. It will relax the muscles in the area, allow improved circulation, and release tension.
Ultimately, you might want to do some form of yoga also, to complement the work of the massage, and improve the flexibility and strength of the muscles in the area.
Some really good stretches help also.

What's the type of tea served at thai massage places in thailand?
Does anybody know the name of the tea that's typically served at massage places in thailand (bangkok)? I've had 4 massages there (at different places), and 3 out of the 4 times they served me this tea.
oh, and the english and thai name would be great! thanks!
They all use different brands, most will serve you a hot ginger tea.
in English you will say 'Ginger Tea'
The Thai word for Ginger is king, I would imagine in Thai it would be 'Cha King'
Traditional Thaimassage and autism

Positive effects of traditional Thai massage are many, both for healing physical disabilities and mental well being and balance. The traditional explanation is that massage the body's energy channels get the energy to circulate freely in the body and activates the body's self-regulating healing mechanisms, and gives a feeling of harmony and relaxation.
The Western scientific explanation for the positive effects massage is improved circulation, relaxation of muscles and activating a parasympathetic nervous system.
In Thailand, the traditional massage "Nuad Thai" is regarded as a valuable medicine practice, and both taught and researched at the university level.
In an interesting test in Thailand a group of autistic children had traditional Thai massage. The study documented that traditional Thai massage can help autistic children (a problem that otherwise often leads to medication with various psykopharmaka). The results described in an article in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine. December 2009, Vol 15, No. 12: 1355-1361.
