The St. Andrews Firefighter Community Assistance Fund (SAFCAF) will hold its first fundraising event on Saturday, Sept. 10 along Magnolia Road in the Avondale Point area of West Ashley.  Organizers of the big Block Party event hope they can raise money for SAFCAF while offering music, food, and fun to everyone who comes out!

There will be an outdoor concert featuring several local artists. There will also be a silent auction and other games, with proceeds going to SAFCAF.

Local businesses are offering 10% off of the total bill with the purchase of a 10% bracelet from SAFCAF. The bracelets cost $5 each.

How much do I tip for an upscale hair salon?

I am having the Japanease Hair Straightening done next week at an upscale salon in Miami. The master stylist and half owner will being doing the procedure. Do I tip and if so, how much? It's costing me $700. Thanks!

Well, normally I would suggest you tip anywhere between 10-20% but since you are paying so much for the straightening, tip may be really pricey. I wouldn't go lower than $50 for the tip, but a $70 tip at 10% sounds like a lot! Maybe you should decide the amount when you finish?

That is a tough one since the master stylist/half owner is doing it, usually I would say follow the 20% rule, which would add $140 to your bill, however I would definitely round it up to $200 since you are having it done by a real professional.

HOLY CRAP!

$700!?!?!?!?!?!??!

What are they doing for THAT cost?

No less than 10%.

I have never paid that much for a procedure at a salon since I am from the mid west and prices are much lower (most of what I have done runs around 100-150), but when I have work done and I am pleased I tip 30%. 20% is for satisfactory service, any more than that shows how pleased you are with the service and ensures the same level of service on the return visit. On a $700 procedure, I can not say. I will be watching posts from others since I am curious too.

$700?!?!?!?! Wow, well, if you can afford that then you can afford AT LEAST a 20% tip, especially if they do a good job.

What is the average salary for a receptionist at a very Upscale salon?

i have a job interview tomorrow for a receptionist position at an upscale salon. what is the average salary for that position? (state of new jersey)

I would say 9-10 dollars an hour. I am in NJ and I have seen some ads and that is what they are paying.

A receptionist is a receptionist, upscale or not. It's not a very high paying position.

Average around 7-9 dollars per hour. A few manage to make around 15 per hour. But that is based on experience and the place of business.

Need a Tag Line For an Upscale Pet Salon and Boutique?

Hello All,
I am really in need of a very catchy and creative tagline for my business. We are a upscale salon doing Spa and Sexy Beast packages for pet grooming. As well as wehave a trendy boutique as well. PLEASE HELP!

I cant think of a cute tag line but my dad is a muralist and did an awesome job of a clients "dog room". She wanted it to look like a mall for dogs and he painted a store front with stores such as "Eddie Bowwower" and "Lord and Barker", I cant remember all of the stores.

Giving your pet his GRRRRR back

lol That's about all I can think of.

Can anyone recommend a good upscale salon in the Boca Raton or Fort Lauderdale area?

I am looking to get highlights and a haircut, and am unhappy with my usual salon. I am looking for a place that provides top quality services (not a "Super-Cuts") and has received some level of recognition for their work. I am especially interested in suggestions from people who have actually tried the salon they're recommending (although it's not mandatory).

Here are a few reviews:

Hey,
I have had an awsome experience there, infact I've been going there for two years now. It's a great environment where they have hip music, ask you if you would like a little snack or coffee, and they are very friendly.
I would recomend "Guy", or the Italian/ Brazillian guy for hairstylists, and Gracy is great at color!
Lets just say you feel hot when you leave.

Where is a good upscale nail salon in the bay area?

I am tired of these dinky little nail salons with one or 2 people working there and its kinda old feeling....anyone know of an upscale elegant spa/nail salon in the bay area?

polished lounge

it's a charming place, not overly upscale. prices are reasonable. keep in mind that this is not a spa, but a nail salon. however, they do offer waxing. parking can be a problem because this is in the downtown area.

How can I find an investor for a swanky upscale dog grooming salon?

I am an experienced dog groomer in a big city thats growing everyday. There are NO upscale grooming salons and I think with all the rich people here, it would do great! I have the knowledge to run it, just not the money. I would need about $100,000 to cover the rent, utilities and all the supplies needed. I would be willing to do just about anything to make this happen! I think this business could easily turn into a franchise!

Having never started or run a small business I cannot share any advice based on my own experience. What I can do is direct you to the Small Business Administration which has answers to some frequently asked questions like

Q-1. How do I get a small business loan?
Q-11. How do I find an investor for my business?

If you go to their home page

you will find links to a lot of additional information about starting and managing a small business.

Good Luck!

I am looking for an investor in a Upscale salon north of Dallas?

I am a 37 year old Stylist with 10 years experience owning a Salon and Day spa. I have a great marketing background with my past business ventures and have been very successful in the past. I am a booth renter at the salon I'm with right now, but I am looking to venture out on my own again. I am in a small town north of Dallas, TX that is growing at an incredible rate and have located a great area and building for a salon. This will be only the second salon in a town of 7800+ and the other salon is no comparison of what my vision for my salon.

I need an investor because I do have some credit issues from circumstances out of my control. My husband was thrown from a horse over 3 years ago and left paralyzed from the neck down. I am the sole provider of my family of 6 now. I have struggled in the past and finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I currently take home over $1000.00 a week in the small town salon I'm in (pop. 2500), so I know my potential is much greater.

How much do you tip at a massage therapist at an upscale salon?

Let's say that the price for a hot stone massage is $70.

15% - 20% depending on how good the service was.

Is it appropriate to bring picture to upscale salon?

It's not super super upscale but it's nothing like Hair-cuttery or anything. It seems too like "great-clips" to bring a picture of how you want you hair cut to look.to a nice hair salon. Is this okay or not?

yes

Where could I find an upscale grooming salon In New York City that specializes in maltese?

She Has tear stains and I want to get rid of it. Could she be dyed? Is there a chemical that can be used that will not harm her?

The best solution I've seen is called Angel's Glow. It's a powder you put on the food and works from the inside out. Here are a couple of links where you can see the results--one from their site and one from a completely unrelated blog:

Official Site: http://www.angelsglow.com/AGR1.html
Blog: http://groomblog.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_groomblog_archive.html (just scroll down until you see the bichons!)

Your groomer won't be able to do much topically other than scissor out the offending hairs. Prevention is really the key to dealing with tear stains, and the powder combined with daily cleansing will help immensely.
