Hopkins Gets Older “…and They Stay the Same Age” BoxingScene.com

By Cliff Rold (photo by Ed Mulholland/FightWireImages.com)

Enrique Ornelas gave Bernard Hopkins a tougher night than Middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik did in Hopkins last outing.

The Executioner still won going away.

Set to turn 45 next month, Hopkins (50-5-1, 32 KO) can make even an expected win something marvelous to watch. He didnt put on a performance for the ages like he once did with Felix Trinidad to claim supremacy at Middleweight. He didnt use his mind to unravel a world class talent as he did a few years ago against Antonio Tarver in a big move to Light Heavyweight.

No, on Wednesday night, back home in Philly for the first time 2003, Hopkins met a tough, focused young man of his twenties on the younger mans ground. He showed off a little bit of everything, winning inside, outside, and in the clinches.

As he has continued to age, the calendar gaps between Hopkins and the men he faces have widened. There are rising prospects in the game that werent even born when Hopkins turned professional. In a move almost cognizant of his age, Hopkins had plans after Enrique Ornelas for a fight with another older man.

Help!! I Have a Red, Obvious, Shiny Mark On My Chin From Waxing, What Can I Do?

So I waxed a strip of my chin along the bottom, and now its really obvious I've waxed it.

Its kinda red tinted and shinyer than all the rest of my face and its just really obvious and noticeable!!

What can I do to hide it or cover it or get rid of it or..ANYTHING it??
I Waxed Yesterday

did your waxing kit come with the soothing/cooling cream?
if so, use that. other that that, try washing your face with regular face wash.
to fix the shiny problem, try to cover it with a powder

Just give it a few minutes it'll disappear ^^

If you need it gone NOW, then try cover up... this is one of the reasons they made it.

if u took skin off then the longer u leave it to heal without covering it the better as it then can heal properly quickly.
if u r just bruised use concealer over it and then do your foundation it'll totally cover it :)

Can chin waxing cause you to bleed?

I got my chin professionally waxed yesterday afternoon. Last night, part of my chin just looked a little bit abraded. Today, however, it looks much worse. It hasn't spread... it just looks like I fell on some concrete and scraped my chin! What happened? And what can I do about it?

I've had this same woman wax my chin several times in the past and this has never happened before.

Many things could have happened. First the wax could have been way too hot. Second, the person doing the wax may have applied the wax in the wrong direction causing the hair to be ripped out in a way to pull more of the top layer of skin off. That is ultimately what has happened, the top layer of skin was not the only layer that was ripped away. The wax should only be applied to one area one time only. If the person applied it more that once then you need to get some dry skin cream on it and let it heal.

Only a Michigan girl would have to get her beard waxed...

Go Bucks!

it sounds like the wax might have taken some skin with it. i'm sure it's a freak occurance and shouldnt happen again. i would keep it clean and put some anti-biotic cream on it. I hope it heals well!

Maybe you were slightly burned by the wax? I would call the salon or the person that did the waxing and explain what you have. I would assume that she has had training in her field and would probably be able to assist you.

Is there any good way to remove facial hair (chin area mostly) without waxing?

It seems like I pluck hairs at least once or twice a month and they come back thicker.

hair removal cream. they make some specifically for tender skin areas (like upper lip).

I use the Braun Silk Epil X - I got it from drugstore.com

I LOVE the epilator, I use it on my legs, a little on my face (upper lip). It is like waxing, but much faster and less pain. Also, this works on very short hairs!

I recomend laser. Had it done in various parts and it is worth every dollar.

You can use an epilator, I use the brand Braun, love it; be care full though because it can pinch the skin. You can also get the area threaded. I used once hair removal cream and it literally ate my skin, so I don't recommend that for the face.

there are special creams for that like Bioder. you use it every night for about 8 months and they will mostly disappear permenantly. not only your face but also you can use it on your body, legs..etc.

The best way, I think, is by first letting that area grow (if its too dark then try bleaching that area.. Sally Hansen Bleach works good) then using a hair cream removal, they sell them at Target, Walmart..)

You can bleach them or you can use an epi lady device to pull them out.

go get lazered. I have one treatment and the fact that the hair is not as thick has me wanting to go back and finish the job. I hate shaving!!!

go for threading

How does the hair grow back when you wax your chin?

If you wax your chin like you would wax your lip or eyebrows, how will it grow back? Will is be coarse and more noticeable if you don't keep up with the waxing? Please share waht you know. Thanks!

never done it actually, you should try it though...

If you want it permanently gone get laser hair removal. You have to go a few times and it depends on how coarse it is but you will get a consultation.

What can you use to get rid of face and chin hair instead of waxing?

Shaving

Pluck it

How long does a chin wax last?

I have lots of fine blond hairs on my chin and they make me really self conscious....I've never had my chin waxed before so I'm a little scared. I'm just wondering how long it will actually last before I need it waxed again?

Thanks.

I think it's 4-6 weeks.
I am sure you are the only one who notices these hairs so I wouldn't worry too much hun. x

should last approx 4-6 weeks-if the hairs are blonde and quite weak. if the hairs are darker and thicker i would expect 3-4 weeks

My sister has it done, and hers last between 4 - 6 weeks although she goes once a month to have hers done.

yup 4-6 weeks and they are probably not that noticeable since the are fine blond hair.

i dont fink u should wax ur chin fuk it u r how u r fink like this went ur 80 odd and cant be asre to wax any more u ll look like monkey and my m8 dose it every friday and when she cant be asre she looks like a man so its up to u can u keep up with the waxin

Is it feasible to have my chin waxed for charity?

To raise money for a cancer hospice, it has been suggested I wax my chin in return for sponsorship.

I am up for it, but I would like advice from someone who does this for a living.

If a man with bristly whiskers get them waxed, would it work or would I lose my skin as well?

id reccomend that you shave it down just so that its not long. girls get there faces waxed so it should be ok

my boyfriend let me wax his THICK goatee as a joke. it hurt..bad, but it didnt rip his skin. it left a few bloodies from the hair being pulled, but thats it.

it depends on your skin

chin waxing situation?

i was wondering when females wax their chin for example an African American, about how long does it take for the hair to grow back. if the hair grows back does the hair grow back like a man, you know more thicker than usual?

Everybodies different, usually 3-4 weeks it will grow back.
If a women shaves (DON'T DO IT, NOT EVEN ONCE) then, it tends to grow back thicker, like a mans.

Any good waxing kits out there for chin/lip?

Or any waxing tips etc. you can provide for those areas...thank you :)
I have the confidence to do it myself...I'm not lacking confidence, I'm lacking a great product. Any advice?

I am an esthetician, I don't recommend people do their waxing at home without any knowledge, especially on their face. Some of my clients have experience of ripping their skin off or burned themself from overheat wax. If you really want to know how to do it, you may go to a spa, and have a specialist to do the waxing for you, until you have the confidence to do it yourself... good luck!

is it ok for diabetics to get eyebrown waxing?

I go to get my eyebrows waxed and tweezed at a local salon. I also wanted to get my lip and chin waxed, but was going to do it myself. I boutght some beeswax for a beauty supply store, read the directions, that state, "no not use if you have diabetes, circulation problems, etc. Does anyone know why diabetics can't get waxing done?

If you're unsure you should consult your usual doctor just to make sure.

But may I also recommend eyebrow threading?
It's so precise and quick, I'm in love with it and refuse to get them waxed anymore!

Some say it hurts, but surely if you can withstand waxing this is nothing. The procedure only takes five minutes at most and it may cost you around $7-10 depending on where you go.

Just a suggestion. :)

A Sunday Love Story (part 4): Breakups, Makeups, and Mug Shots

Are you up to speed in our little tale of love and intrigue? If not, you might want to stop here first:

Part 1: Red Ruffles and Rat Tails
Part 2: Band Plumes and Compact Discs
Part 3: Corsages and Ladybugs

So I was Molly Ringwald, though a slightly less gorgeous and non-red-headed version, with my perfect teenage happy ending. The boy of my dreams, though not quite Jon Cusak, was officially my boyfriend. We held hands in the halls, oblivious to the rest of the world. During breaks and at lunch, he would stand behind me, wrap his arms around my waist, and rest his chin on the top of my head. We had our first kiss after a church dance. My introduction into the world of high school was every bit as good as it had looked in the books and the movies.

Except when it wasn't.

It only took a few months for reality to set in. In the weeks leading up to my fifteenth birthday, I remember feeling a vague sense of restlessness as the newness wore off. It bothered me that he still pegged his jeans, and it bothered him that I wore a torn denim jacket with political buttons on it every day. We started to bicker about small things.

Chris and I were about to face the problem that would stare us in the eyes our entire courtship: we had met too young, but as much as we wanted to, there was no stopping the attraction that drew us together. We spent every waking minute together--or as much time as our parents allowed us. Because of our Mormon culture, we weren't officially allowed to date, so being together required chaperons. We spent time after school with friends who had to put up with us not being able to keep our hands off each other and being generally uninterested in what the larger group was doing. Our attraction to each other grew intense very quickly, and it didn't take long before it started to scare the hell out of me. There was another boy who was mildly pursuing me during this time, and I found myself...
